The distance is perfect for me step to step I'm 5"6 240lbs and I climb with aiders. Able to get about 21" up. Weight is a tiny bit heavy but it isn't bad to pack around. Very functional, even after taking the straps off it sticks to the trees itself. The steps are not too far apart, and packs okay. Wished it packed tighter but it works. Pretty loud being aluminum, just use some hockey tape or silencing tape and you're good to go. ... show more

Great product, lightweight, extremely sturdy, and stick to the tree once set. Fully trust these sticks to never fail me. Height without aider is around ~15 feet (with a two step aider 20’ no problem). Only complaint would be the buckle style straps, would recommend upgrading to rope mod style straps. ... show more

If you're looking for the best of the cheaper name brand climbing sticks, these may be it. They're functional and easy to use but not perfect. A few thoughts: 1) The stacking feature is really nice, in terms of allowing them to stack sideways as two pairs or vertically as a set of 4. However, the black plastic sliding connector that locks them together can be really annoying when you're trying to hang them, since it'll slide down against the button and get in the way of strap attachment. 2) The straps are really long and very heavy. I've never seen such a heavy strap on a climbing stick. I don't use the straps - I made amsteel mods and hang them that way, which is much lighter and not really any more difficult. 3) The sticks themselves aren't exactly light. They're incredibly stable and bite the tree really well, but it feels like you pay for that functionality in weight. 4) Like nearly all sticks, they're really loud. Not just banging together, but even just knocking the tree or strap makes a lot of noise. I have them wrapped in camo gauze tape but they're still frustratingly loud. ... show more
