I needed a way to extend my laptop across two additional monitors. I have Thinkpad running Windows 10 and the other, 2012 Macbook Air running 10.1 (El Capitan). I can connect either laptop and they both work. I can run both the laptop and two additional monitors as extensions (3 independent screens total). For the Mac I did need to download the driver from the Dell site, which was simple. Really pleased this device works for both operating systems.     • It works with everything
This is marketed as a Dell product, but Dell could have sold many more of them if they said it was universal for Windows because it is. I have now tested it on a Surface Laptop, an MSI gaming Laptop, a Thinkpad Workstation, and best of all, a Surface Go Tablet. The Surface Go is significant because it only has a single USBC and the Surface connect port. As you have probably noticed, if you're researching this product, it is made for USB-3, which uses the normal USB-A port. I discovered that it works with an adapter without any noticeable change in performance, at least if you are using standard monitors. Modern computers don't have many ports, and this easily expands the number. 5 USB ports 1 Ethernet port 2 HDMI ports 1 Display Port It effectively turns my Surface Go into a usable computer for desktop-type work, as long as too much processing power isn't required. The only downside is that you have to use your computer's charger. This does not supply power to the computer and not just to non-Dells. It is not designed to charge the computer.     • Works for 2020 and beyond MacBook Pro M1 Chip Laptops
The new M1 chip MacBooks released by Apple is flawed given that it's new and new prototypes often go through the growing stages before later models in the next years. Since the M1 chip is new, you can't just use any docking station to connect to more than 1 monitor. As this is one of the docking stations i've came across that can connect a MacBook Pro w/ M1 chip to more than 1 monitor. Since the only 2 ports embedded in the laptop other than a headphone jack is USB-C connection, you have to purchase a USB-C to USB-A dongle to connect the Dell docking station to the MacBook. Other than that hurdle, I would say this docking station is worth it as it is functions as it advertises. It has many ports: 5 USB, 2 HDMI, VGA, headphone/microphone, and power port. The 'Dock' is more of a port replicator, and a poor one at that. 4k output is only available using the Display Port, and there is only one of them, so despite the title saying "4k Triple Display", you're only able to output in 4k to one display. The USB ports all work as expected. The biggest problem with this device is the mouse lag that is created. I can replicate this behavior with multiple computers in my office. I have tried multiple different mice, USB receiver directly to the laptop bypassing the dock, USB receiver in the dock, and I have also tried a wired mouse. This makes the product unusable. When you move your mouse, you expect the mouse to move, so the created lag is not acceptable. ... show more

I purchased this dock with the mind that its not for video processing/video playback or gaming(but, I'm able to have two 1080p video's running on different screens with no issues.) This type of box makes it easy for telecommuting, when all I need to do is connect a single USB 3.0 cable to my laptop to connect everything up (and makes it easier to switch to my own personal laptop at the same time) I am using three monitors @ 1080p for each monitor. Bad thing I just found: Audio - I couldn't just plug in a set of speakers (Wouldn't detect) and had to use a splitter cable to allow me to plug in regular speakers.
