I have a pride of feral cats living in my backyard. This was perfect to shield them from the harsh weather over their cat house. They have a heated cathouse outside, but when the weather looked like we were getting snow, I wanted something that would fit over the cat house and allow them to stay dry while they eat/drink. This dog house is pretty awesome. Having the front and back closures fully removable and having two window sections with roll-up flaps makes it pretty versatile. It was very straightforward for putting it together. The directions were crystal clear for the frame and everything else was very obvious on how it was made to go together. Maybe have taken 5-10 minutes for the frame and maybe 5 minutes for the rest of it. My pictures were not taken on a very sunny day at all but it's been in my backyard ever since and I've seen the amount of shade it provides. My dog absolutely loved laying in the shade whenever she was done running and rolling around on the warm grass. My favorite part is the roll up window screen flaps. Although I dont think theyre really necessary, they can still help with airflow if it happens to be a really hot day out. The material they used to construct this is of real nice quality, feels nice and durable for different outdoor weather. This dog house is a fairly nice size. Not at all too small and although I only have one dog, I can see a 2 or 3 dogs of medium size easily fitting underneath comfortably. The advertisement pictures show the front flap flipped up and over the top but when I tried to do that there's no real way to keep it from sliding back down. I did manage to find a way to fold it a little bit and get the scratchy side of the velcro straps from the window flaps to reach up and over to the edge of the fuzzy velco on the front closure flap. This description may sound confusing, but I added a picture I tried to take of what I did. This only works if you have the window screen flaps rolled up because you need the scratchy velcro that is underneath the window screen flaps. Althought this is a great shaded dog house, the reason I have to take away a star is bc with all the effort they put into creating this structure, I feel the ties they put on the bottom to secure the material to the base of the frame are not at all long enough. I struggled to tie each one because they weren't very long, you can see in my pictures how tight I pulled them. On top of that I don't see these ties lasting very long if you wanted to keep this dog house on top of grass for an extended period of time. Grass usually has quite a bit of moisture, especially in the mornings. I dont think these will last if you leave it getting wet frequently.

To be honest Im no really impressed with it but my English Lab loves it. It's the first doghouse he will actually sleep in. It's very lightweight and easy to assemble, wish the walls went all the way to the bottom and maybe some Velcro to hold door flap partly open (I'll try the Velcro buttons). So for a very satisfied dog I have to give it 5 Stars!

The poles are sturdy but the tarp doesn’t cover the sides fully. I bought this to keep the stray cats warm that are in my neighborhood but it’s not met my expectations. Sadly it’s below freezing all week so I can’t return it because at least it’s something for the babies to hide under.
