  • Broke my spirit for gaming
A little context, I recently decided to treat myself to a PC upgrade after years (my old GPU was an NVIDIA 970 - that card came out in 2014 for the kids out there that don't know NVIDIA had cards with a 3 digit model number). I was excited about the process now that GPUs are affordable and available since cryptos died. I did my research and was excited to see that AMD was offering what appeared to be the best value for performance on the market. This card competes in the same price range as the NVIDIA 4070 and frankly runs circles around that card on the spec sheet. After doing my homework and reading/watching some reviews, I decided to take the leap and try out AMD. I received my first 7900XT shortly after and installed it into my computer and started downloading drivers. I was so excited, I was finally getting back into PC gaming after years of finishing up college, starting my career, getting my CPA license, and learning to be a worthy husband to the love of my life. Next thing I know, I'm 3 days into trying to figure out the absolutely terrible and annoying screen flickering issues that I was experiencing. All my research on possible issues led me to believe that my card could be the problem. No worries, AMD isn't exactly known for its robust quality control and, fortunately, I decided to buy on amazon for the express reason that returning/replacing the card would be easy if anything went wrong. I didn't let the first faulty card diminish my eagerness, however. After all, I was finally able to get into gaming again after years of setting up adult life, everything was going to be great. I patiently waited for my replacement card to arrive and I began the install process anew. Finally, after years of repressed desires to indulge in gaming and instead focus on the boring, monotonous tasks of setting up a life, and weeks of patience during set up, I was finally ready to game. I get the replacement card installed, drivers downloaded, and finally sit down with my glass of water and adjust my lumbar support in my chair, ready to game (hydration and posture check for those of you still reading btw). Once everything is set up with my replacement multigenerational upgrade treat that I had been waiting years for is ready, I look at my screen only to be greeted with the exact same abhorrent flickering problems on the second card. Mind you, I vetted every possible solution I could find with the first card prior to replacement and frankly could not be bothered to do more research. I finally conclude that the universe simply will not allow me this small pleasure and my spirit caves. I power down my PC, remove the GPU and prepare it for shipping back to amazon. Fortunately, amazon being one of our giant corporate overlords is willing to take the loss on my petty squabbles and furnishes my refund. Defeated, I put my good old 970 back in my PC and download the same old drivers from the inescapable NVIDIA tyrants and my PC is back up and running. My trusty 970 is running like a dream and can handle web browser tabs and microsoft excel no problem, the only 2 things I, now a 27 year old man, should be using a computer for. While reassembling my old setup, I am granted time to reflect on my experience. During which, I reach an enlightenment. Gaming, much like many other aspects of life in 2023, is a relic of a bygone age. The ship has sailed and it is not coming back. No new games try anything exciting or provide any sort of a fun experience without trying to thoroughly and absolutely ravage your ever-diminishing wallet for every scheckel they can. Now, with the complete and utter destruction of my confidence in the industry brought about by AMD's failure to provide a remotely usable product on more than one occasion, I am finally cured of my gaming addiction that had been lying in wait beneath the surface for the years that I spent putting on an adult face and becoming what society would deem as a productive and worthwhile member. It has been some weeks since this revelation and my life has improved in almost every aspect. I tell myself I am happier, I go outside more, I take walks and read, I am a better husband at home and a better employee at work. All since the yearning for that one small joy that I told myself I could indulge once I am set up to be the man I know I should be was completely and utterly snuffed out. Now finally, back to the card itself, would I recommend it? Well, this is a tricky question, if you find yourself in a similar situation as mine, late 20s with a growing career, new marriage, and finally a modicum of free time, I cannot recommend it enough. Will this improve your gaming experience? Absolutely not and will cause more frustration than it's worth. Will it destroy your passion for gaming allowing you to finally embrace your joyless existence? Well, if you're even fractionally as lucky as I was, you betcha it will. ... show more

  • Outstanding GPU!
Purchased the XFX 7900XT from Amazon on 1 Aug 23 to build a portable gaming rig. Unfortunately the other components didn’t work out and I had to return it. The GPU was used for no more than 3 hours and it was amazing! Paired with a FreeSync Premium monitor with Low Framerate Compensation, framerate is outstanding and stutters were eliminated for me in MSFS 2020. This GPU has not been available on Amazon since my purchased as I purchased the last one. Looks like it is in the Amazon Warehouse for a very good price (it is likely the one I returned). If so, it is truly like new, other than the package seal being opened you’d never know it had been touched. It was not registered. If you choose to purchase and your serial number is: XXU029958 you got this “as new” GPU. ... show more

  • This Is the Best 7900 XT on the Market
This is definitely the best 7900 XT on the market as of now. Despite occupying only two PCIe positions, the performance is excellent in my AM5 system that has an ATX mid-tower case. Since the AM5 processors are iGPUs with integrated Radeon graphics that utilize AMD’s Adrenalin drivers, this 7900 XT roared to life immediately after I installed it into the motherboard. Once the Adrenalin software recognized it, it automatically updated the drivers for optimal stability. Now, as for the graphical performance, the results speak for themselves. I ran Unigine’s well-know Heaven benchmark on a 4K 60hz display with high settings, and the benchmark held steady at around 60fps for the entire session. For those of you who are interested in the Radeon RX 7000 series for 4K displays, I would definitely recommend this model of the 7900 XT to all of you. ... show more

  • Great card, great customer service
I love this card I didn't want a 350-400w card and this one is nice and compact and fits in my PC. It is the BEST card available right now - qualitatively. The new 7000-series AMD cards have MUCH better legacy MPEG encoders - comparable in quality to 40x0 NVENC! Among the 4090, 4080, and 7900 xtx, this is the BEST because objectively, all 4 cards do 60fps+ rasterization at 1080p, 1440p, and 4k. All 4 cards do ray tracing at 1080p, 1440p, 60 fps+. Really NONE of the four cards can raytrace at 4K. So why pay more if the more expensive card brings nothing new to the table? Thanks XFX !!! (Fennec is a division of XFX the employees of Fennec are employees of XFX). ... show more

  • Better value as price drops
Wanted a smaller card than my sapphire 6900xt nitro+ while keeping around the same performance, the AV1 encoding and extra VRAM is also nice, this card was a terrible value at the original $899 MSRP but I decided to bite at $780. No hiccups or driver issues, push 150+ FPS easily at max settings in every game so far (1080p) and doesn’t go above 65 Celsius even in my mini ITX case (Sliger 620). TLDR: No nonsense card that runs cool, quiet, stable, and in a condensed package. I think it would be a 5 star if the value was better, closer to $650-700. ... show more

  • Almost perfect !
Extremely good card and has had no issues pushing it as far I can both with vr and normal high end games. One and only issue was installing Radeon Drivers was a bit finicky as it left my monitor completely black until I restarted my pc. (I did finish after a restart ) I wouldn’t blame the card for this though and the problem may already be a thing of the past. ... show more

  • Supported by mesa
I'm using this with arch linux 6.3.9-arch1-1 (64-bit) and after installing mesa it works. The USB-C port works on HDMI protocol and not Display port. If you have a device like a portable monitor or you want to use a tablet as a second monitor it may not work. Edit: I thought I couldn't use the USB-c port because it was not a display protocol but it didn't function because the USB-c video port fails to power up after sleep. This is a bug in all linux distros to my knowlage. It works just fine after the pc is powered off and turned on after a minute. ... show more

  • Integration Hell
Card works great in some games, the problem is WoW has been rendered completely unplayable as It's unsupported by blizzard. They've had a lot of time to sort out driver issues and made 0 progress. I've had driver crashes since release day.
