I have used this on 3 pairs of my skis. I recommend using a Sharpie to mark the edge to make sure you have ground the entire edge. I was able to order extra grinding wheels from the company that sells them at $45 per wheel. For standard edges you MUST first use a sidewall cutter to trim the sidewall. If you don’t the plastic will plug the grinding wheels. Swix makes a good one. If you have a trapezoidal sidewall than you’re cool. This grinder with a fine grinding stone gives you a mirror finish at an exact angle. If you are unsure start at a lower angle and see how it feels than gradually increase it. The ski must be wax free before grinding so brush the ski throughly. Use a base cleaner if you want. It took several back and forth emails but when I got in touch with customer support Robin was enthusiastic and shipping was fast and accurate.

Battery life too short and no product support to order a second battery or extra grinding wheels with different grits. The spring tension on grinding wheel stuck often. I will say it's easy to use, but not worth the money in my opinion.

I run a small ski tuning shop and have tuned over 350 pairs of skis and boards with this machine with no issues. It does a fantastic job of bringing back even the rustiest edges, and I find that I don't need to deburr after using the medium grit disk. Make sure to upgrade to the larger 4Ah battery if you are tuning more than a couple pairs of skis. Ordering replacement grinding wheels and batteries through their helpful customer service number is quick and affordable (the number is on the back of the owner's manual).

Works well on normal snowboards but not the ones with Magne -Traction like Lib Tech. Quick and easy to sharpen the side edges. Not to be used on the base edge or you will put a gash on your edge and base.

I've had this for a couple seasons now and it is simple, fast, and effective. I mostly use it if I end up dinging something hard (I'm a racer); normally just maintain edges with diamond stones. But when I do use it, it leaves a shop machine level shiny, sticky (as in grabs your fingers) edge. Could be smaller and lighter for better portability, but extremely effective.
