  • Stay away from this "official" trash
TLDR: The build quality of official controllers are absolute junk, just look at the nearly 20% 1 star reviews, and you can see, its trash. They have the gall to charge $60MSRP for such cheap garbage. brand new controller lasted 6 weeks before becoming worthless. Original Review: Bought this thing to play certain games on my PC. I have almost no interest in XBox, and have had no interest in the XB1, but everything is designed with the Xbox controller when it comes to using a controller as input. The XB1 is the equivalent of the WiiU of this generation of consoles. the overall design is decent, the buttons work well, and the sticks are accurate, I have a few issues with some choices for how they built the controller, along with the actual design of the layout and buttons. the design of the triggers and the bumper buttons, you can tell, they sacrificed ergonomics for looks. Take the PS4 controller for example. the bumper and triggers have a separator between them, making it harder to accidentally activate one or the other when trying to actuate them. they are also smaller, as they dont need to be big. the XBox1 controller has no separator, and I have found myself occasionally accidentally activating the bumper when trying to only pull the triggers. on the subject of questionable construction, I have also noticed that with the way they designed the different plastic plates for the shell of the controller aims at either being cheap or just bad design. the plates all have angular edges, so if there is a gap between the plastic plates, you get a jagged edge. again, looking at the PS4 controller, all of the edges of the plastic plates are round, there is nothing to catch your skin as an edge, even if there are gaps between the plates. It may seem that I dont like this controller from how much im bashing it, but I am more just disappointed. the 360 controller was better designed overall I feel, with the massive flaw of the 360 controller being the d-pad being downright terrible. The XBox1 controller on the other hand, has much better joysticks, and an actually good d-pad. admittedly, it is not as good as the PS4 controller, but the d-pad is actually useable now. Another great thing is the battery life of this thing when used via bluetooth on PC. the thing just refuses to die. I can game with a PS4 controller for most of a day before it needs to be plugged back in for charging, but the XB1 controller has been going strong for nearly a week of moderate to heavy use on the same set of batteries. it slightly sucks that you have to go out of your way to get rechargeable batteries as a separate thing, but I now feel spoiled by the massively long battery life on this thing. I used to use a Logitech controller for PC gaming, but after using the DualShock 4, I realized how crap the joysticks felt, and could never get over it. The DS4 has basically no/terribad PC support, so the option to use that as my controller was completely out. That lead me to cave in and get this controller, which I was pleasantly surprised with. overall, the Xbox One's controller is an improvement on the 360 controller, some things annoy me, but it is still an excellent choice for a gaming controller. throw on top of that, this version is a very nice shade of blue. If you are looking to get a controller for your PC games, this thing is well worth your money. Edit: Terrible software for configuring the controller. super bare bones. there also is no indication of the battery level on PC, so you have no idea when you need to change out the batteries. Edit2: jesus, it just is getting worse and worse. it has been less than 2 months since I bought the controller and already, the right bumper is acting up. the button switch has become unreliable, you have to now crush the right bumper in to be able to guarantee that the button is registered as pushed. if you use mild pressure, it has a 50% chance of either not registering at all, or spazzing out and stuttering. Considering that most of the games I play rely on the right bumper for important tasks, this $50 controller has become a $50 paperweight after just 6 weeks of use. I always thought the button switches felt a little cheap ever since I got the controller, looks like my fears were confirmed. I am quite sure that M$ decided to cheap out on the button switches for the bumpers. They seriously feel like they got the same switches for a dollar store mouse from the 90s and used those for the bumpers. I would say that the contacts for the switch are messed up, but likely they were of bad quality in the first place, so it was a matter of time before they failed. ... show more

  • If you get a dud, exchange it - good controller otherwise
I went through 2 other controllers before I got one that didn’t have faulty button responses. Third times a charm! Now that I have this working one, it works great. I ordered the first one through Best Buy and the buttons wiggled around and had to hit them a number of times before they worked, so I sent that back. Then I ordered another one from Amazon, same issue but not as bad as the first so I had to exchange it for another and luckily, no issues. (Knock on wood). From what I’ve read online, it’s actually quite common, which I was shocked to read. I had never had issues with PS4 controllers. Hopefully the new controllers that come out with the Series X fair better. The color on this blue one is awesome. 9/10 ... show more

  • Works well as advertised
This works really well. I'd been using the controller that came with the xbox one for a couple of years now, until I finally wore out the rubberized top of the left joystick. :) I bought this as a replacement, it was the cheapest reasonable replacement. I like the color, the texture and feel. It behaves just like the original. My sole complaint is the audio out on the headphone jack is a good bit lower than on the original. It's not a major drawback as I have volume control on the headset. For this controller I turn it all the way up, and about half to 2/3 when plugged into the original controller. ... show more

  • Works fine for IPad Pro!
I bought this controller for use on my IPad Pro for playing games that are much better played using a controller rather than the touch screen on the iPad. A lot of the games now being offered with Apple Arcade have controller support, (using iPad iOS 13.6) and work wonderful with this Xbox One controller. You simply go into your Bluetooth settings on your iPad/iPhone, put your controller in Bluetooth pairing mode (blinking blue light on controller) and the controller will appear as Xbox One Controller on your iPad. Tap to connect and you are done! Mine arrived brand new in a sealed box, with a set of Duracell AA’s. So far, so good. If you are looking for a great controller for use with your iPad/iPhone, Win 10 computer, or of course your Xbox One then this is it! ... show more

  • It's an XBOX Controller
I'm using this on a Windows 10 PC via Bluetooth. I had no issue with the initial pair, but a day later it would not connect. I tried to unpair/re-pair multiple times but could not get it to work anymore. Finally I downloaded the 'Xbox Accessories' app from the Windows Store and connected it via MicroUSB cable. The app found a firmware update for the controller and installed it. It seems to be pairing and reconnecting properly now but I'll have to keep an eye on it. I did get a kick out of some other reviewer's pictures showing the control sticks broken off blaming the controller for being fragile. There is no way these would break off unless they get seriously abused (Smashed hard onto the floor, etc). ... show more
