I've used Microsoft's earlier iteration of this charger (the mini USB type connector that is on Xbox One controllers) since 2016 and now this iteration with my Series X since November of 2020. This thing has never failed, always charges (I charge it over night or when things are downloading and I'm not playing), and the included cable even works with PC. I assume that last point is probably a no-brainer, but this means you don't need a special cable for PC, you can simply use the included one and then switch using the controller on Xbox whenever you want. I don't get all the 1 star reviews. Maybe these are the type of people that leave their cables and controllers around for their pet rats or children to chew on, but I keep my stuff out of reach of the kids and have never had a problem. For the record, I have used an off brand rechargeable battery pack in the past 5 years on one of my controllers and it would frequently disconnect or not hold a charge. I will continue to buy Microsoft's proprietary offerings for accessories because I know they will work out of the box with their systems.

I ordered one of these batteries for my Xbox Series S controller because buying new double AA batteries was getting expensive. The first one I ordered did not work at all; it was a dud. The battery would hold maybe ~5 minutes of charge, then it would disconnect altogether. The only way I could play was to have it connected via USB-C whilst in use. I contacted Amazon via email, and they sent me another one and allowed me to return the faulty pack. Success! The second one works perfectly. If you happen to receive a faulty one, just reach out and have it replaced. I highly recommend it!

I’ve been using the Xbox rechargeable battery for a few months now, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best investments I’ve made for my gaming setup. The battery charges quickly and holds power for hours—even during long gaming sessions. It fits perfectly in my controller and eliminates the constant need to buy disposable batteries, which is a huge plus for both my wallet and the environment. Brand new rechargeable battery has not worked from day 1. Tried charging it via USB with the controller connected to xbox. It won't charge, controller loses connection non-stop even when attached to USB cable. Games are unplayable when the controller will not stay connected for more than 5 seconds. Xbox shows battery level is full, but controller disconnects immediately if you unplug it & continues to lose connection non-stop. Doesn't matter how many times you try turning it back on, it just drops connection. Plug it in & it continues to disconnect repeatedly. Tried turning on controller over & over, and leaving it on, in an attempt to drain whatever life is in the battery, to the point where the controller will no longer turn on. Battery still will not charge, and controller still disconnects non-stop even though USB cable is plugged in. Took out this useless rechargeable battery pack & installed normal batteries & now the controller works perfectly. Obviously the rechargeable battery pack is the problem. Do not waste your money on this garbage.

I’ve saved so much money in batteries. This is worth the price. However it kicked the bucket a week ago and stopped charging after 5 months of use.
