Eventually, serious gamers will ditch the standard headset, but if you're new to the Xbox or gaming in general, or you just need to buy some time while you research more expensive headsets, this is a great starter! Mine has been through the ringer (thrown, sat on, spilled drinks, etc.) and still works! So it's highly durable as well. No batteries required, as it attaches by wire to your Xbox controller. Easy to mute and adjust the volume using the integrated buttons that are already at your fingertips. Now for the cons! - Your squad/teammates will hear background noise through your mic if it's loud enough. True for a lot of headsets, but with this type especially, you're not using it for game audio (only chat audio). So that means you're going to be relying on your TV's audio during gaming. If you turn that up too loud, teammates will hear it! - While wired has some advantages, the big disadvantage is that it dangles and can get easily snagged. Minor gripe, but worth mentioning. - Foam earpiece is comfortable for short-term gaming, but the fact it's up against your entire ear becomes more noticeable over time. - Not the loudest or clearest audio experience! Overall though, it's hard to beat the price. Great to have as a backup or in the meantime while you're trying to decide on a more expensive headset.

Great one ear Xbox headset
I really like this headset. It has a mute button you can press that is very helpful and a volume up and down button. I like how it is only on one ear so that I can also hear other people in the house when they need to speak with me or if somebody were to knock on my door. I don't know about other games but when I play my elder scrolls online, I only hear the person or people chatting with me and not the music or noise of the game, but of course one ear is uncovered and you can hear that coming from the TV itself. These are definitely the type of headsets that you need to be gentle with but I have been able to make a pair last a couple years and I've also had a pair last only one year but I do love this particular model the best but it does seem that they may be not making them anymore since you cannot get them on the Xbox store anymore and I have only been able to find them for sale through third-party sellers and it will definitely make me sad when I can no longer buy one from anyone. I do recommend this headset

Sooooooooo I was initially going to give this headset one star and write how I should have read the reviews about it being a defective piece of trash. I bought this for my son for Christmas for his xbox and as soon as he opened it and plugged it into his controller he attempted to chat with his sister who was in her room on her ps4. He could hear her and the other gamers but no one could hear him. Long story short I was pissed and went on to read the reviews to see if others had this problem and boy did I see a lot of reviews saying the same thing. I knew something had to be wrong so I called Microsoft and the tech support got me to go run an update and check all the options in settings to make sure there was no parental control on, chat was on, internet connection and some other settings. He told us to do a reset of the console and turn the controllers off and back on. The settings were all fine so we only did the update and the reset of the console. After doing all of that my son came running out of his room saying the headset was working great. I tried it out and could hear my daughter clearly and she could her me loud and clear!!!

I will never understand why Microsoft made the choice to eliminate the standard headphone jack in the xbox one controllers, in favor of a proprietary connector. Granted they have since seen the error and released an adapter and a new controller that has a standard jack. However, I already own four controllers and do not want to replace them in order to get one that has a jack. As for the alternatives, they have issues. When in game/party chat you can tell if someone is using a headset connected to one of these other options as it will either produce echo or a ring within the party that everyone but the user producing it can hear. Finally, I could live with the proprietary connection, if the product provided was a quality product. This product is poorly made with the thinnest possible wire, which breaks easily. I am now on my third headset and have done nothing with them that was abnormal. Infact I did purchase one of the adapters, which comes with a dongle to connect a standard 2.5mm headset, that dongle made with the same wire as the headset also failed. leaving me without a headset again. I suspect that dongle was responsible for much of the in party noise. Many would argue that I should get turtle beach headset. Those users are not enjoying the true sound capabilities of games mastered in 5.1 and 7.1. Even "Surround" headphones cannot compare with a true surround system. A 2.5cm speaker cannot compete with a 15" 1000watt subwoofer for producing base. And even a few micro drivers baked into a head set cannot truly emmulate surround sound. I use a 7.1 setup with Pioneer Elite Amp and Klipsch Reference speakers. Why would I want to give that up to listen through a pair of headphones that mess with the audio balance in favor of amplifying footsteps instead of providing a well rounded audio experience? Haters gonna hate, but they don't know what they are missing. So here I am stuck giving MS money for a poorly built product with no recourse.

Functional, Lightweight, and Surprisingly Not Trash
Let’s get something straight: this isn’t a surround sound, noise-canceling, Dolby Atmos headset with RGB earcups and a $300 price tag. But you know what? For what it is—a simple plug-and-play voice mic for your Xbox controller—it does the job well. This little mono headset is light, fits surprisingly snug, and the mic pickup is actually super clear. I’ve used it in cross-play with friends on PC, and nobody’s ever said “you sound like you're in a tunnel.” That’s a win right there. The inline mute + volume switch is super handy, and it plugs right into the controller’s 3.5mm jack with zero setup needed. I keep one of these as a backup when my main headset’s charging or when Peighton wants to chat with her cousins online without using the whole soundbar.

I love it but doesn’t last long
I bought mine in June for ESO. Works great! I love the convenience of the mute button and volume control without having to reach up for a switch to mute. Problem though is the cable doesn’t last. Four months later and I have to twist the cable just so to be heard otherwise I sounds robotic and broken up. Very sad as I really liked the single ear mic concept. Also, have to unplug the whole headset from the controller to recharge the controller. That stinks.

Perfect for the price.
First off, the sound. Crystal clear, folks. I can hear my teammates barking orders like they're right next to me, no muffled mess. No fancy surround sound gimmicks here, but for chatting and hearing the game, it's all I need. Plus, my ears don't get tired after hours of battling online, thanks to the comfy design. It's lightweight, adjustable, and doesn't trap heat like some of those old beasts I used to wear. Now, I'm not a tech whiz, but even I can appreciate the simple setup. Plug it straight into the controller, no messing with Bluetooth or batteries. Mute button? Right on the earcup. Volume control? Same place. Easy as pie, even for these old thumbs. And let's talk price. This headset won't break the bank, unlike some of those highfalutin' options out there. For a no-nonsense gamer who just wants clear communication and comfort, this thing is a steal. Sure, the mic boom ain't the most flexible, and there's no fancy in-line controls, but hey, for the price and what it does, I ain't complaining. It gets the job done, and that's what matters.

Great headset and one of my all-time favorites. I like being able to hear my surroundings so like this type of stereo headsets. Headset is comfortable and fairly durable.
