  • Works great
We just got our kids, 9 & 7 years old, an Xbox 360 for Christmas. It only came with one wireless controller. Of course had to order extras. We have had a Wii for the last 5 years and this is a fairly big upgrade as far as screen resolution and quality of games. The wireless controllers are quick to sync with the console and the kids have found them easy to hold and use. I would HIGHLY recommend spending a little extra and going with the wireless controllers over the wired ones. Much easier to use and eliminates the possibility of people tripping and having your console crashing to the floor. I would definitely recommend getting rechargeable batteries. The good news is that these use standard "AA" size, 2 per controller. The box comes with 2 alkaline Duracells to get you started. We've had a batch of Eneloop AA rechargeables that we use with the Wii controllers so we use them for these also. Only other note is be very careful about which controllers you buy. I saw a lot of them on ebay etc, but were Chinese knock-offs. My brother's family has had an Xbox 360 for several years and have gone that route. Every single controller that they bought that was not original Microsoft OEM, had issues. Lagging, sticky buttons, not working after a few months. They eventually replaced them all with OEM units. I am usually all for buying after market items and not paying the OEM "tax" but in this case, I believe it's worth the extra expense. Also, wait for sales. You can always find these at a discount somewhere, Amazon, GameStop, etc. ... show more

  • What you would expect from a xbox 360 controller
I have had my Xbox 360 controller for well over four years and during that time period after thousands of hours of game play my controllers were still working great. Recently this past year I noticed my left analogue stick would move my character by itself which made my gaming frustrating. Second, the controller would not push down properly so I was not able to sprint the way I should be doing in a video game, I then knew my controller was busted so I went ahead and bought another wireless 360 controller. My reasoning for the result of the deteriorating controller was because I had played Resident Evil 6 where there was a lot of button and analogue smashing which broke my controller, so my advice is 1)please do not play RE6 it was not a great game 2) If you must play it be careful not ruin your controller so you do not have to buy another controller. The new wireless controller that I had purchased has been working as it should be, I did not expect it to do any more or any less. I have also read from other reviewers about how the right or left trigger buttons would make a squeaking noise and I personally did not have this problem with my new controller, I did have that problem with my right trigger in my old controller though, I guess it’s one of those things if you get one that makes noise your stuck with it unless you can return it but there is no guarantee the new one would be any different either. I would recommend this controller to anyone who is looking for one. ... show more

  • this controller is better than what you find at gamestop
my controller arrived my 16,2014. this item was packed very well. when removed it from the package i found it was not glossy. i was happy because it wasn't. i bought this because i needed a new controller. when using it i noticed suttle differences, the first was that the D-pad was chrome, secondly it was a nice supprise the D-pad is much higher for easier maneuvering and not as stiff than your typical wireless controller you buy anywhere. the thumbsticks are great. they're not your typical ones. these are much better. they're more durable. it's a more durable rubber and also easier to manuver. and your thumbs fit in te center much better i waited to right this review because, i wanted to see if it could stand up to the challenge of a full 2 weeks of Black Ops 2. it did very well. using the thumbsticks i did find it to be stiff, but after the break in period which was about 3-5 days for me. to test the right trigger button i used the following guns SMR and FAL.i choose these because they're not automactic from the start. it only goes as fast as you can pull the right trigger, and i purposly used it for that purpose. since the rubber is more durable and textured differently i found your able to go around people easier. to test left thumbstick used class with extereme condictioning because you constanly are pressing up on the thumbstick. that also held up very well. all the buttons work fine. none of them are loose either i read the reviews also posted about this controller. my thing on that is, when you have items of mass production you will have issues. this issue could be quilty controll. not enough people to check everything. as a big time gamer i was very happy ... show more

  • Not much can be said that hasn't already.
Like the title to this review says, there isn't much about this controller that hasn't already been said. So I'll save everyone the same old trip about this and that, wireless, yadda yadda... What I will say about the 360's controller is that it does what its supposed to, first and formost, which is obviously important and the whole reason we're here. I will add, while it doesn't reflect on this model of controller, I had a prior model (the black with matte grey accents) analog stick sensors bug out on me (which is why I ended up getting this as a replacement). At the time I was playing Dragon Age: Origins as a Rogue. Any one who's played that game knows that to do melee combat you have to go in and generally not move, because you'll break your auto-attack -which for the build I was using was most of my damage. Well, with the analog sensors bugging out on the other controller, it was causing the game to assume I was moving when I wasn't and would make me drift away from my targets, even when my thumb was no where near the stick. It was annoying to say the least, but it turns out it was a defect that quite a few people were experiencing in the controller itself. I've since yet to see it happen with this controller, and its been over a year now, but the memory sticks in my mind to watch for it, and I'd be remiss if I didn't bring it up here. Other then that, All I can really say is that after years of 360 gaming I sort of miss some things from Sony's Dual Shock line of controllers that Microsoft didn't do very well with this controller; mainly I miss the segmented D-pad and the triggers from the PS2's controllers (I haven't held a Sony controller in years, so they may not have changed). I get by without the segmented D-pad, but it does keep me away from playing very many fighting games (I'm not really the type to buy an item, specially for gaming, SPECIFICALLY for one type of game -I'd rather just buy more games), but what really bugs me most still is those triggers. They're just not sensitive enough and the "throw" you have to put behind them is excessive compared to the way I remember the Dual Shocks simple "its a button, just press it" design was. While I know the resistance is meant to mimic a real trigger, for First Person Shooters, I'd much rather have had Microsoft give us an option between a controller with triggers and one with just another set of bumper buttons. It might be a nitpick overall, but when the rest of the controller is more or less fine, I have to pick the only battle that's really right up in my face. (As a side note, I'm aware of Microsofts other controller, with the twist D-pad, but having handled that a few times I don't find it to be all that be all that better of a solution to the D-pad issue for me. I also know about the Madcatz professional gamer model controller with the swap out parts, but I have not handled that at all and I doubt I will without a huge price cut. Up to $100 is simply too much money for a controller, even if it'll give me everything I'm looking for. I simply don't see the point in ending up paying extra for a bunch of extra parts I'll never use that'll clutter my house.) ... show more

  • Better Quality Than Matte Black/Gray Controller
After playing my Xbox for about 5 years (yikes ... it has been that long already!?), I was in desperate need for a controller upgrade as my current controller had worn out its welcome and the joystick pads were all but textureless. My brothers purchased a newer xbox than mine, and it came with a black controller with the matte gray lining. The controller really felt no different than my white ones, and I really liked the black, so I thought I would get this one, and get it in gloss just to mix it up a bit. I was surprised to find that the quality of this controller was far superior than the black and gray controller. I am not sure if the batch that I got uses different parts or what, but the controller feels a lot more sturdy, the joysticks are nice and strong (they dont wiggle much in their neutral position) and the buttons have a stronger feel to them. Now some people might say that this is because it is a new controller, but I have been using this one now for about 5 months and the controller is just like the day I bought it. Again, I dont have proof that the components of this controller have changed, but they sure do feel better than any of the older xbox controllers. ... show more

  • Great Controller
While I remain a Playstation-loyal gamer, Microsoft certainly knows how to make really nice controllers. These controllers feel great and work great! One bummer (inescapable, I might add) is that these controllers auto-turn-off really REALLY fast. This isn't a problem if you're gaming, but when you stream netflix and want to pause it really fast is a major irritation. like I said though, this problem is not with the controller, but with the software and can't be avoided if you have an xbox 360. This controller also works great for PC gaming, but unless you buy the PC-specific version, you will need to get an adapter/dongle for it (links for both included below). I already had two of these controllers, so it made sense for me to buy the dongle for my standard xbox 360 controllers (this one) and not PC-specific controllers. Also, this is a plus if you have friends come over to play a local game on your PC and they only have standard xbox controllers as well. I connected 4 standard xbox 360 controllers to the adapter and it worked perfectly. If you get this, I would also buy the charge kit (link below) as you'll want a rechargeable battery (not included with this) and a cord to charge it with (you can play while its plugged in charging). Overall, this controller feels great, performs great, and is durable. 5/5 Charge Kit: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Black-Play-Charge-Kit/dp/B000OYMYZQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418153338&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+360+charge+kit PC Adapter: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HZFCT2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Xbox 360 Wireless PC Controller: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Controller-Windows/dp/B004QRKWKQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1418153466&sr=1-1&keywords=xbox+360+wireless+controller+pc Xbox 360 Wired PC Controller: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Controller-Windows/dp/B004QRKWLA/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1418153527&sr=1-1&keywords=xbox+360+wired+controller+pc ... show more

  • It's native to windows, works seamlessly with both cable and the wireless adapter.
So, it's 2016 and Microsoft will soon (if not already) discontinue production and support for the xbox 360 and it's accessories. I've had three of these already and they inevitably develop a minor drift in one of the analogue sticks. I'm ok with it because these controllers can now be found on amazon for as low as 17 USD. I do not use an xbox360 but this controller is the only controller I use for PC gaming. Whether it's with the cable or the xbox360 wireless adapter this unit just works. all the games I've ever played (except phantasy star online2) go by the A,X,Y,B layout and although I find the PS4 and PS3 controllers to be more ergonomic and safer for extended grinding; there's just too many things you need to do to get them to work. PS4: you need input mapper, the PS3 works fine with the wireless D-input converter but some of the newer games don't recognize the controller as a digital input and then there's the panic moment when a game prompts you to smash the X button and you instead hit the PS3,4 X's button which is actually the A button... I am getting too old for having to reverse engineer my controller - just wanna play a darn game :). Long story short. It's getting pretty easy to find this controller at a really cheap price and for now I feel it's a very good alternative to purchasing the xbox one controller (69 USD) plus the wireless adapter (29.99) ... show more

  • Ehhhh...
The goods and the bad's are here for my review. THE GOODS -Its a pretty good controller. -Good for a back up controller. -All the functions/controls work. THE BADS -The joy sticks/triggers are EXTREMELY stiff, a lot of resistance in the triggers. Way more than a new store bought controller. -Its hard to get used to because of that ^^^^^ -The triggers squeek whenever you pull them, and the D pad makes a weird noise also. OVERALL If you are a hardcore gamer, I would pass on this controller and go to the store for the same price to get one. I would recommend this as a back up ONLY, and if you cant find one anywhere else. Its really not that bad, its just I am pretty picky because I like precision when I game. ... show more
