Given the increasing crime rate I decided to give this a try, and I am glad I did. 2 weeks after the install, someone kicked my front door and the alarm immediately went off causing them to run like a rabbit in a mine field. I also got a nice pic of them from my security cameras for the police report. I have 3 problems with the system, if the power goes out the system goes off line, if you lose internet you have not connection to your phone for notifications, and alarm base could be louder, but it was enough to make a thief run, so it did it's job. I have since added the interconnected smoke and heat detectors and contacted my insurance company. My insurance company has given me a 10% discount for having a monitored fire alarm system. I have tested them and they do work very well and are really loud. I have also purchased a small UPS to back up the alarm receiver, modem and my router.

Product is good for the intended purpose as an alarm system for those looking for a good DIY system. Very easy to setup and install and works well for the average home owner. However, if you want to use it in Home Assistant it’s limited in functionality. This is not a reflection of the unit but a shortfall of HA not have long a native integration. You have to use HACS to get the integration on HA and even after that there is now entity to tell if the system is armed or disarmed. It is because of this limitation in HA that this unit will not work for me as I need that status to control other home automations.

I had high hopes for the X-Sense Home Security system, but it’s been nothing but a headache. The setup instructions were confusing, and the app constantly crashes or fails to connect to the devices. Half the time, the sensors randomly disconnect or give false alarms, which totally defeats the purpose of feeling secure at home.

It all started with a mailbox sensor. I researched all that was offered on Amazon and decided on X-Sense. I am so glad I did. I now also have a driveway sensor, multiple door and window alarms, motion sensors, 6 keypads, smoke and heat alarms, water sensors, temperature and humidity sensors. I have a complete security system and a complete safety system. X-Sense tells you you can have 50 devices on a base station. What it doesn't tell you is that you can have multiple base stations. I have 2, one named security and one named safety. I control everything from the app and get notifications for everything. The available settings in the app are extensive, including naming the device, naming its location, choosing a notification sound, etc. You can set the security alarm for off, home and away. You can set the motion sensors to only function when in away mode. I am just extremely satisfied with everything. Choose a device, tap a button on the app, double tap a button on the device, it connects and you are done. If desired you can then tweek things, even editing the order the devices show up on the screen in the app, as well as naming and renaming whatever you want.
