I've had the bike for a little over 3 weeks now and I'm shocked that I'm so in love with this X-Pro Hawk 250 DLX EFI. I've been wanting to get back into riding since I had to give it up for a few years to be a responsible adult. Now I'm still a responsible adult just happier now that I'm back in the wind. Here is a little about my journey so far and hopefully it will help you in your research. After many days of research myself I decided to pull the trigger on the Fuel injected version of the Hawk 250. X-pro customer service was great to me and kept me well updated with my order. I received my order after 4 or 5 days by box truck with lift gate. During unboxing the only damage was to the right side gas tank plastic, it was broken and unusable, I contacted X-Pro with pictures and they immediately apologized and sent me new plastics for both sides of the gas tank as well as a full set of stickers for all the plastics that arrived 2 days later ( I pulled all the stickers off anyways because all black looks sick.) The delivery was easy and they put it where I asked and hit the road. It was about 5 in the evening and got dark before I could get the thing fully together. I'm pretty handy but working in the dark was tough and it probably took me 4 or 5 hours total. Too my great surprise she fired right up after adding ethanol free gas and putting in fresh oil. At the end of this review I'll leave a list of the most crucial upgrades I've done thus far but what I did the day after unboxing was just do a real thorough check of the whole bike and just familarize myself with it. I then began to customize to my hearts desire. I first replaced the front and rear sprokets, 45t rear and 17t front. Much better all around it was way to shortly geared before and good news is you can use the stock chain, no chain breaking required. I replaced the mirrors for a better view, I replaced the grips, I changed the clutch lever with and adjustable clutch and added an adjustable brake lever as well. I also added an aluminum master cylinder. I installed a windshield that has made a big difference in comfortability as well has a padded seat that attaches with straps under the original seat and really makes a big difference in seat comfort but it does boost you up an inch or so. Seat height is 36in, I shaved the seat foam quite a bit and then stapled the cover back on and it worked well and allowed me to flat foot the bike if needed. I also changed out the factory spark plug for an iridium plug. One of the biggest upgrades was the JFG exhaust I put on this puppy. It was hell to install because it didn't fit quite right so I bought a rubber exhaust extender bracket and bada bing bada boom it worked and it sounds awesome. She definitely performs better in 1st through 4th gear, alot more get up and go with the new exhaust. I also got a 20$ bike cover that works great to cover the bike. Now I'll talk about the bikes performance. After all the upgrades she will go 72mph at full throttle on flat pavement. She always starts right up. Of the nearly 800 miles I've put on her already probably 250 miles are gravel and trails. I was amazed at how well she went on trails. No problem at all climbing pretty gnarly hills in 2nd gear. It runs well and I've had no issues with performance so far at all. Shes perfect for rural roads and pretty much anywhere except for interstates and higher speed highways. Having a max speed of 70 isn't enough to really be safe on an interstate. Now some mistakes I made so you don't make them. I don't think you should torque the oil drain plug even thought the manual says too. I tried to torque it and stripped it out and i had to re thread it, that was aggravating, it really just needs to be good and tight, nothing crazy. Everything else does need to be torqued to spec and you can buy a 20$ torque wrench at lowes. In some states if you bought your motorcycle out of state then it does not need to be inspected the first year and you can take it straight to get registered once you receive the proper paperwork from X-pro which arrived for me one day after the bike did. Be sure to check all bolts for tightness and add loctite to mostly everything you can. The chain came from the factory super tight, you should adjust your chain asap. Ok here is a big one, the manual says to drive under 35 mph for the first 500 miles to break in the engine. In my opinion and many others that I've talked to it is unnecessary to be so conservative when breaking in the engine. Here is what you should do. Using conventional motor oil 10w-40 at first,change original oil before you ever even start the bike up. Run it for a few minutes revving the engine some and letting it idle some. Then turn it off wait for it to cool and change the oil again. Now drive around for about 10 or 15 miles and again change oil. Then drive around for about 100 to 200 miles and change the oil again but this time use 10w40 full Synthetic oil. Now you should be able to just ride it normally. No need to drive under 35mph for 500 miles. I do suggest changing the oil again at around 600 miles though just to keep fresh oil in while the engine is breaking in. The preload shock comes very stiff, I suggest you soften it and raise your front forks about a quarter inch from the fork posts. Also don't forget to grease your axle bolts before you put the tires on. Also check your speedometer and odometer. I find that the speedometer is generally 5mph above the correct speed and I've also noticed that the odometer is a bit off with milage but when I use the trip meter it is accurate. Finally the bottom line is this. After the cost of the bike+shipping+ plus gear I'm probably 3k in this bike and I couldn't be happier. It's fun to ride it sounds awesome it has alot of getup and go and handles well, although there is quite a bit of vibration on pavement.Also customer service was great and I don't see how you can beat this deal for a dual sport bike. It certainly helps if you are willing to learn how to work on the bike and make these upgrades. Out of the box the bike is ok but it really shines after some upgrades. It had been a tremendous pleasure to be back out on the roads and the trails and I love my Hawk. Hopefully you find some of this information helpful. The motorcycle community is awesome and I learned a lot from reading reviews so I just wanted to pass along what I've learned. Below you will find a list of some of the upgrades, you can find them all on amazon. Update: I just want to add that any time I have had any issue Ive contacted X-Pro customer service and they have been very helpful. They have just sent me parts free of charge 2-3 day shipping without me even really asking. Ive spoken with someone named Winnie and they have been awesome. Just wanted to mention the customer service because they really have been great. Update #2- I messaged Xpro support just to ask them if the knew where I could purchase a throttle tube because I messed mine up, it was my fault I messed it up and I told them that. I just needed to know where to buy a new one. They said they would get back to me, 3 or 4 days later a brand new throttle tube with grip came in the mail free of charge. X-pro customer service has been so good to me I'm very grateful. Awesome 250cc and comfortable to ride, reminds me of XR250. The bike comes mostly put together, but you will need some help setting up the front wheel and rear shock. I'm also a small man, had MRSA, and lost a lot of weight. The bike handles well and feels like you have control.

Nothing changed from this original post. Now after the grandson riding it.. no problems. It's a great first bike. I was able to assemble it myself with a motorcycle lift. The video is helpful but better if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. Bike has the rear shock disconnected, so it's riding on the back tire, which means it's not going anywhere easy until you lift and connect. Charged the battery although it may not have needed.. changed the oil even though what was in there looked ok.. adjusted the throttle linkage (set idle) and rear brake light switch and all worked and fired right up. For my 13 year old grandson. No problems.. fun bike.

After watching countless videos online and reading about this bike on forums dedicated to Chinese motorcycles I decided to purchase the Hawk DLX. Shipping: I received it about two weeks after purchase. I contacted the seller directly via the phone number listed on his Amazon account several times throughout the process and they have always been very helpful. R&L trucking was the carrier who delivered the bike. It came on a small box truck with a lift gate. The driver was able to use a pallet jack to get the crate all the way up my driveway and into my car port. The bike came with the usual rub marks on the engine case due to its long journey to get to me. That is to be expected. No complaints. Assembly: I assembled the bike in a couple hours with a little bit of consulting the included DVD, and googling. I had never assembled a front end like this before. An impact and torque wrench will save you loads of time. The little tool set that is included is useless and should go straight into the trash. The decals that come on all of the plastics make the bike look super cheap and chintzy, so I elected to remove them. Luckily they peeled extremely easily and left behind no residue whatsoever. Nice! I then swapped the factory headlight bulb out for a fanless LED. I also checked the valve clearances on the motor, as resources online indicate that these motors come tightened way out of spec from the factory. My bike was no different. The intake and exhaust valves were both torqued all the way down with no clearance. I adjusted the valves to the proper clearances, and changed the oil to Rotella T6 15W-40. I also took this opportunity to swap the oil drain bolt out for a magnetic one. It is very important that you don't run the engine with the oil that it comes with. It is there only to coat the internals for shipping. I noticed that the chain was also way too tight from the factory, and tried to use my torque wrench to remove the rear axle nut to adjust chain tension. It wouldn't budge. At this time I noticed that from the factory the rear axle nut had been tightened down so tight that it actually started to cave in one side of the swingarm. Once I got the rear wheel off with a breaker bar I replaced the rear sprocket with a JT 45 tooth. For some reason all four rear sprocket dampener bolts were secured with LOADS of red loctite. I had to use a breaker bar to get those off and swap the sprocket as well. Function and riding: After going over all the nuts and bolts on the bike with a wrench to double check the manufacturer's work I added some fuel and the bike fired right up! I let it heat cycle one time then took it for a nice hard ride to "break it in." The bike did great! It has tons of low end torque It will do about 65 with a 45 tooth sprocket on the rear. I have ordered a 17T front sprocket as well. Even with a smaller rear sprocket 1st gear is pretty short. The seating position is a little bit too far forward for my comfort level, but I will adjust in time. It should be mentioned that this is a full size bike- I am 5'11" with a pretty high waist and I can't flat foot this bike at the factory ride height. I enjoy sitting up tall thought so I didn't adjust the rear shock at all. The brakes are pretty mushy so give yourself plenty of room to stop on the street. Emergency braking is probably not ideal on this setup. I will have to work on the breaks eventually. The rubber foot peg pads and be pulled straight off which I did. I prefer the grip from the spiked metal pegs. The digital dash is SUPER nice, and way better than I expected. It is very bright, and has a gear indicator and fuel indicator in addition to the speedometer and tachometer. It also has the capability to record mileage on two separate trip indicators. This is a non-counterbalanced single cylinder motor mounted straight to the frame so it does vibrate a good amount. The gas cap also doesn't lock... so that kind of stinks. The ignition locks though, and it doesn't just lock the steering- it has a drop down plate that blocks the lock tumbler completely unless you use the factory key to move it. The suspension felt perfect for an enduro. Not too firm, not too soft. It handled like I would expect. Uh oh: After my first ride I noticed that there was a substantial fuel leak coming from the fuel pump under the tank. I tightened down all four fuel pump bolts as tight as I felt comfortable and the fuel was still leaking. It appears to have been wicking down the threads from the bolts themselves. After looking online, this appears to be a common problem. There are fixes online for it involving cutting out your own fuel pump gasket from fiber gasket material which seem to have very good results. I have contacted the seller about it and they are sending out replacement parts to try first. I have also requested a replacement rear swingarm, as riding on a dented one is not safe. Pros: Inexpensive fuel injected enduro, outstanding value for your money Ships to your door mostly assembled Inverted upgraded forks over the standard hawk Really nice digital dash Nice 50/50 tires A lot of Honda CG250 motor parts are compatible Great customer service from the seller Lots of low-end torque (yes it wheelies) Comes with small burrito tube and a locking bolt on the frame for chaining up the bike The DLX factory exhaust is really nice. Perfectly loud thump. I like it a lot. Cons: Will require tweaking and adjustment just about everywhere prior to riding May have defects from improper assembly at the factory and shipping that need to be corrected Vibration Gas cap doesn't lock Factory gearing is suited primarily for off-road and will need new sprockets to achieve highway speeds Summary: If you like to wrench a bit and want an enduro to entertain yourself on without breaking the bank this bike is a stellar choice. Despite the defects on the unit that I received I regret not buying one sooner. I think it is worth every penny.

I was nervous ordering this off of Amazon. I could not have been more impressed with the entire process and the bike itself. Excellent customer service. The seller was very communicative and responsive. I was surprised that the motorcycles arrived on the very first potential delivery date. I thought it might take weeks for them to arrive or I might have repeated delays. My husband put them together. We bought two. He said the YouTube instructionals were very easy to follow. it did take four or five hours for the first one. He took his time and made sure he was properly going through each step. But he said overall, it was simple to assemble. they run great! Good power and responsive shifting. Very easy to insure, title and register. No problems at all there. They are big. I am 5’10”. if I balance right in the center, I can get both my toes on the ground but not sit flat footed. they feel stable, well balanced, and easy to drive. Nice features like an electric odometer, a key start with a kickstart as well. street legal which was what we wanted . They are very good-looking bikes. And a nice combination of dirtbike and street legal— like an Enduro or dual purpose motorcycle. That’s what we wanted so that we could go around on small highways and streets as well as out in the woods. But I don’t need motocross type of bike. I am very very happy with this purchase. also, they arrived in perfect condition. No scratches or scuffs. In my opinion, the only negative reviews are from people who did not do even simple homework and read the description. They were shocked that they had to do some assembly. Not a big issue at all to do assembly at all if you have some basic tools and are just a little handy—especially for this price point! Highly recommend.

I bought this bike and had no issues with it. I then bought a carburated bike a few months later put 1 Mile one it and the next time I went to ride it no spark. I have been dealing with this for several months. I sent several emails and tried calling XPRO USA and have gotten 0 response. I am 90 % posistive it is the CDI box but have ordered several of then with the actual part number. Every box I get is incorrect for this application. This is a DC controlled box and using the part # on the part DCI-ZL78-001 or 06020016 I continue too ge the wrong part. Very frustrated and looking for any assistance. Absolutely no customer service from XPRO USA

I have put 100 miles on this bike without any problems yet. Pretty good value considering a similar motorcycle would usually cost 3 times the price. It took me about 5 hours to assemble out of the crate. Quality control looks to be lacking a little which is to be expected of a Chinese made bike. Although the quality of this bike compared to a Chinese bike I have from over 15 years ago is light years better. Top speed is about 60mph stock. I plan on trying a few changes to get it up to 70mph so it will be a little more highway friendly. Has no problems climbing hills. No complaints yet. Update: 300 miles on the bike now. Running great. Seems like no matter what I try, top speed maxes out at exactly 69mph. Running it at 7000 feet above sea level right now, 17t on front and 45t on rear. Ngk plug. Castrol synthetic blend oil. It will be interesting to see what others have done to maybe get 70mph plus on this bike. Jetting is not an option because it is efi, which I happen to love. Starts on first crank every time, even in freezing weather. Update again: 2200 miles on the bike now. I cut out the cat and welded the exhaust back together. I also put a k&n air filter on it. Full synthetic oil. Premium fuel. This thing runs great. I can now get it up to 72mph. If there is a tailwind it will go even faster. Very pleased with this purchase and glad I bought it when it was under 2k. And the best part, I average between 60 to 70mpg! Update again 4 years later: 6100 miles on the bike now. No major problems. I did have to replace the front and rear rims since they became bent beyond repair. A check engine light came on and it took a while to find the problem, but it was just a dirty sensor that needed cleaning. The biggest problem so far was the gas tank developed a small leak that I was able to fix with a can of sealant.
