WARNING! Instructions are dismal! 1 star deduction it’s so bad! Diagram was more a breakdown of the components of the winch. Needs hardware identification guide! Also, instructions has installation of the winch to bumper first, then wiring. DO NOT go in that order!!! Reason? There is a shell that partially encases the motor and the wire connectors are located just above an opening to that shell that I will call “the black hole of hardware”! Trying to connect the wire, the nut dropped and fell into this black hole (see pic where finger points) and because the motor is round, my magnet retrieval tool would not reach to retrieve that nut. I had to uninstall the entire winch, fish the nut out (with picture hanging wire with a hook bent on the end), and THEN I did all the wire connections to the winch before reattaching to the bumper. If you chose to do it in the order of instructions, do yourself a solid and block this black hole of despair and anguish with masking tape to prevent fallen hardware from being sucked into the void! Aesthetically, it is a good looking winch. I have not yet had a chance to test it out so I’ll leave my review at 4 stars and if in use it falters or fails to meet expectations, I will reduce the rating. It will not increase due to the poor instructions. I can’t ignore the anguish that has caused! UPDATE: got the wiring completed and the winch is operating well. I thought I was cheated out of the advertised wireless control, but realized the one controller is both wired and wireless. Unplug the cable and notice the indicator changes color between green and red to let you know if it is in wired or wireless mode. Both modes worked for me.

Looks great and easy I stall. Maybe an hour total install time. Wires were the perfect length for my jeep. Anything larger you may have to get creative routing to the battery.

I have been using the 13.5 for 4 years now and believe me i have put it through hell and back from snow wheeling in deep snow aired down with buddys to pulling some big logs for firewood it has a lot of use, seems I really need a winch or two in my truck family always have ,and for the rope yes it turns pink instead of red from abuse but it is amazing I am not worried about breaking my line at all that stuff is crazy strong. I was on here looking for another xbull winch to install n my car trailer and thought I would give a review on the 13.5 synthetic rope winch. really it pulls and behaves as well or better than all others including WARN I have played with guys that have them all, and the remote always get praise from everyone the dual function is really nice [ corded or remote same controller} anyways I Love this Winch and would buy another in a blink. hope this help with all the winchs to choose from these days, it looks good to.

I Install was super easy, came with everything you need. It did not include a curcuit breaker and I do not know if there is one inside the solenoid cover. Might be a good idea to buy one. The remote is amazing. It has a built-in battery that I assume needs to be charged by plugging the remote into the winch. Sounds kind of annoying, I wish it took some AA's or something. But, I have had no issues. It connects immediately and the range is every bit of 120ft. The magnet is super handy too. I have used the winch 5 times so far, 4 pulls to get my Lexus out of some mud, and another time pulling a Jeep out of some sticky mud. I had the Lexus chained to a truck and the winch was dragging both of us to the Jeep, so I had to chain the Lexus to a tree. So it's a very strong winch! I do not doubt the 13.5k rating at all. For the price, I highly recommend this winch. I will update the review when the unit has an issue.
