This safe is a nice small safe that can be used to tuck away valuables. It mounts to the floor or to the wall through holes at the rear. I would recommend drilling into at least 1 stud, or ideally concrete, if you really want it to stay in place. The included hardware will go into drywall and grab hold but can be easily pulled out of the drywall... cause it's drywall. Open the safe with the included key. (Don't put this key inside your safe!!! If you do and something goes wrong you're out of luck.) The key hole is in the front of the safe in the lower center area behind a rubber plug. Once it's open you can put your batteries in. Please note as shown in the image that they slide all the way through. It took me a minute to figure that out. The programming is simple, open the door and push the red button that is near the inner hinge. Type your new code followed by #. Test the lock unlock to make sure it's working. The lock bolts for this are a strong thick steel and I do think that the safe would keep someone out for a little while. Not a long while though. The steel that the actual safe is made out of is by no means a heavy gauge steel. This safe is also listed as a fire safe, which is the reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. As someone who owns a fire safe, I can assure you that this safe isn't going to keep anything safe if there's a big fire. Overall it's a nice little unit. My partner will be keeping some of her nicer jewelry in it once we get it mounted in the bedroom. ... show more

the safe is good for a "don't forget or making sure the kids don't play with your passport and stuff. but i doubt someone wanting to steal stuff from you would have any trouble removing the safe or breaking in.
