Only complaint I have is: 1 Either lock the diff from factory or add a transmission with a diff lock since you already have a servo switching gears. Out of box this cannot compete on an obstacle course. With all that said, it is fun and will climb mild obstacles in low gear and is faster than needed in high gear. Cannot complain too much. Very fun truck, especially because it has 2 speeds so your not just stuck going slow in the rocks. It has just enough speed to jump it a little and the low gear has a ton of torque! The truck is somewhat light and all plastic but it functions well regardless. It is well designed and everything works smooth on it. I added oil to my shocks because they come dry and to get them to actually work right I ended up with 80wt oil lol. I greased all the gears to make it run smother and quieter and that helps a little. I installed the rear locker gear in the axle and I'm able to do donuts now! It could definitely use some more weight on it to crawl steeper stuff better so I got brass axle housings and upgraded to the brass wheels made for the monster truck. I'm very happy with the increased performance. All in all it's already a great truck right out of the box!!! ... show more

Cool truck. I will be upgrading the motor and suspension because it just needs it. The headlights on mine never worked. And it doesn't have a shiny paint job. It's rather flat. But the cool features on this truck with the remote is you can adjust the speed without touching the throttle, from a very slow crawl to a faster crawl and the remote will just keep the truck at that speed. I bought the Smasher V2, but never ran it as a basher/ monster truck. I didn't even turn it on. I tour down the diffs and packed the carriers full of JB Weld to link the axles up solid. A set of plastic spools comes with truck but if you're going rock crawl, don't bother. The pinion gear will strip out almost immediately. Thus the reason for 4 stars vs. 5. I also added a set of 70mm Injora Swamp Claws and heavy brass portal covers. For a stock brushed motor, crawl speed is pretty good in low. In high its a handful totally locked but it's still fun. Who doesn't want to do backwards wheelies? The electronics seem solid and the servo comes with a servo saver. So far the servo has help up to some pretty hardcore wheelin. At 1/24 scale this puts any larger rc you could buy at a store to shame. Totally upgradeable , every single part can be replaced easily and usually with a metal part. Has a 2 speed transfer case that you can shift with the remote. Headlights that Also turn off and on by remote. This little guy is serious fun! ... show more

The light wire broke as soon as I got the body off. A portal gear carrier stripped 30 seconds after running it on a flat smooth deck. With the gear glued next run on rocks the scx24s laugh at another different gear carrier stripped, and on first rollover (not fall) a brace on the roll bar broke. With all the gears fixed it lasted about an hour (battery charged once) before the steering went out. I got metal gears with the quid pro quo that I change my Amazon review from one star to five which I did. The metal gears are still in the bag because I had to glue the portal housings because only 2 screws out of all four corners were snug and the rest stripped out of the box. After getting the steering servo I bought and paid for it became obvious that the esc/receiver went out with it, or caused it. After getting a esc/receiver/radio combo that too I bought and paid for It was unbound and would not bind. The original radio would not bind with it either nor any other radio I tried. I have been trying for days to get an response from FMS though they are on the ball and all over it when I buy something from them. During the warranty period I paid counting shipping and weeks of waiting $32 for the axles, $22 for the servo, $55 for the useless esc/receiver/radio combo, plus options buys as well. Add $150 for the truck and that is too much to spend to try to get this POS to work but I really wanted one of these that would last more than an hour and 30 seconds. And this is the short version of the problems I had with this. I know well this is not typical and generally they are durable enough for what they are but I am reviewing the one I have and the service I got. ... show more

This little crawler is awesome right out of the box! Love everything about it. Big fun in a small package! My only complaint is the red paint on the red version. I was hoping that the red would’ve been more bright, like fire engine red. Instead it’s a darker deeper red, almost like candy apple with metal flake. Honestly, the color is growing on me, and would look great with some gold anodized aftermarket wheels in the future. Overall awesome little truck for the money! ... show more
