This eccentric flaring tool is an improvement over the older style ones that I'm used to using on auto brake lines. It really worked smoothly and easily on the copper mini split lines that I used it on, and there's been no leakage on those connections since. Beautiful thing.

Seem like a pro tool to me... solid and reliable! It feels good to use, as though ergonomically designed, and the clutch mechanism is flawless. I have been getting perfect flares reliably, immediately and I am new to installing mini-split. I got this because the DIY stuff I read suggested a clutch model. Like for most or all flaring tools, one has to know how much copper tube to be flared must extend beyond the edge of the indented conical part of the holding bracket, before you cinch it down, to get the right size of a flare that fits the nut perfectly and covers the whole brass fitting conical surface of the junction's counterpart that copper flare will mate to. But that's how they all work. A little trial and error to figure out how to get the perfect size flare, but easy to cut off the flare and do it again! Just takes a couple of minutes. I think that's the normal learning curve for making flares and it's easy. The stainless steel 'cone' that actually flares the copper is angled/offset from center, yet rotates on its axis, which is important so that, with some nylog or hvac oil, the flaring part of tool doesn't get scratched or marred, because when cones lose their shiny smooth finish, they reduce the quality of the flares by introducing imperfections in the copper flare.

Awesome product, perfect flares, easy functionality. The design is pretty straighforward, but the only opportunity I see would be to include a gauge on it to see how far to stick the pipe out to make perfect flare. I had on in the past with a stick out gauge. So it was a learning experience to get them perfect, but you learn quick. I have always done nickel thickness, but that was too much. ended up being lcoser to a dime / credit card. Very well made, durable. Not too bulky or cumbersome. This ones a keeper. Perfect for HVAC.

This tool is great. I installed two different heat pump systems with it (18,000btu and 6,000btu). Flares came out nice and without damage. Both system passed a pressure test and vacuuming. I used a little bit of nylog on the face of the bit to avoid friction and scratching and flares came out clean and without scratches. I recommend practicing on a little bit of copper first. The hardest thing to get used to is how much copper to leave sticking out to determine the size of the flare and to get used to the tool before.

My mini-split install was almost ruined by a couple of poor quality factory flares that leaked badly. This flare tool came to the rescue. It was delivered quickly, it was easy to use, and it produced perfect flares that did not leak. Nice case, too! This tool has earned a spot in my toolbox.
