Description

Small by design, still packed with power. The Worx MAKERX Rotary Tool with Brushless Motor fits nicely in your hand. And without an onboard battery pack, it’s lighter, so you can work longer without feeling the fatigue in your arms or shoulders. Yet, with a brushless motor you still get more than enough power to engrave and etch, grind and sand, cut, polish, and clean. The variable speed control lets you pick just the right amount of juice for the job (5,000-35,000 rpm), which you can control right from the Hub. So for different materials and different types of work, you can find the speed that works for you. And it’s fitted with the common collet size of 1/8”. It can work with all standard collet sizes, so it accepts the bits and accessories of all the major brands. Get the MAKERX Rotary Tool and start engraving glass, wood, and metal. The Worx MAKERX Mini Heat Gun was made for embossing paper and cards or drying painted or glued crafts quickly. It’s indispensable for projects where you need to warm up plastic or wood for shaping. It’s great for heating shrink plastic around a product for shipping, gifting, or selling, to give it that professionally packaged look. But it has so many uses around the home that everyone in the family will be glad it’s there. Thaw frozen door locks, valves, pumps and spigots. And it’ll heat spilled paint or adhesive, making them easy to remove. The slim design allows you to hold it like a marker when you need to heat an area directly, and the narrow focus nozzle lets you pinpoint just where that heat blast is going to go. The Mini Heat Gun has a built-in prop stand that holds the hot nozzle away from delicate surfaces, so you won’t do any accidental damage. MAKERX has created crafting and hobby tools that are smaller, but more powerful—the secret lies in the Hub. It’s a power source that you can take with your tool, so if you want to work in the middle of a large space, you can, and still have the power to get the job done.

  • Interesting concept, was on the fence but now I'm sold
Style: MAKERX Heat Gun Only
Update (3/20/21): Used the heat-gun and soldering iron to connect a 24/12v converter to a battery bank via a 4-port terminal block. Summary: I have had rotary tools long enough to remember when the first real accessory for a Dremel was the extension shaft. This is similar in that you have relocated the power source away from the part that you hold, resulting in a lightweight tool. Previously reviewed the WX739L Rotary only tool combo (there is video in the link below): https://www.amazon.com/review/R3HSAXMQJGSDVS/ref=pe_1098610_137716200_cm_rv_eml_rv0_rv Observations: 1) To test the rotary grinder (Dremel equivalent), I used the included 3/4" cut-off wheel, and cut a 1" section off from a 3/32" thick curtain rod bracket. Additional detail in that review. 2) Next I looked at the Angle Grinder. The 2" disc should be sufficient for most small tasks, and would excel at bolt/round stock cut off. I like that the motor is brushless, as that is then newest technology, which makes for more efficient and cooler running. You can really dial the speed down very slow, which I showed in the video. 3) Lastly, I tried the soldering iron. Having soldered things just about my entire life, I was really looking forward to this; however, the temperature seems very low, relative to what the digital read out indicated. It does heat up quickly, and adjusts back down relatively quickly. I need to test this further, so for now I'm rating it fair. One thing to note, you'll probably need to increase the heat much higher than indicating. Recommendations: 1) These systems of tools really makes economical sense when you have many of them. This MakerX combo has the rotary tool, angle grinder, and soldering iron, and they also offer an air brush. I'm sure they intend to release more tools. The 20v Power Share is also compatible with many Worx 20v tools also. The heat gun is the only one sold separately, not as part of any combo. I intend to buy the mini heat gun; the reviews are fair, not great, but I would much rather use a mini heat gun than a lighter to shrink heat wrap. 2) For the angle grinder and soldering iron accessories, I used a 2-compartment Sistema container (link below), and added some foam to hold the bits from rattling around; I think it turned out really well. Drops right inside the bag, and all the little bits are there at your fingertips. Pros: Good fit & finish; brushless motor (rotary and angle grinder); 20v Power Share family of tools; includes a tool bag. Cons: A bunch of warning & caution stickers; soldering iron isn't super hot. Conclusion: At $170 for this set, I rate this 5-stars, and I would recommend this WX991L set over the smaller/lower cost offerings (like the rotary only for $100). Spend a little time to see which kit would be suit your needs and budget. • A-lot of heat from sure a small device
Style: MAKERX Heat Gun Only
Perfect addition to my Worx MAKERX tool kit. This heat gun is very compact but it deliver a whole lot of heat. Heats up very fast and is very easy to handle. I used it to heat up my KYDEX holster so I could mold it to my pistol… worked perfectly. Also, excellent when working with heat-shrink tubing. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • WORKS WELL FOR MY PURPOSES
Style: MAKERX Heat Gun Only
Product arrived on time and well packaged. This was purchased for light duty use for wiring repairs and also as a way to help defrost frozen locks and vehicle windows in very cold winter weather. Per its instructions it should only be run for less than ten minutes at a time. It does provide decent airflow and hot air even when used outside in temperatures below 20 degrees. I had a need for a reasonably priced battery powered heat gun and since I already had the batteries and charger, this suited me well. I did also already have the MakerX hub. Please note that this was a BARE TOOL ONLY. No hub and no batteries or charger. If you do a lot of work requiring a heat gun this may or may not work for you. The amount of air provided and its temperature may not be sufficient for heavier tasks. I mention that as I did run some tests using a laser thermometer and the temperatures I reached did not match those claimed by Worx, although those temperatures may be achieved if you place the nozzle VERY close to what you are working on For me it was a near perfect choice. Your mileage may vary. ... show more

  • Great tool
Style: MAKERX Heat Gun Only
I can't wait to get all the parts. I needed a new Dremel when I found this and decided to give it a try, not this heat gun attachment but the main piece and rotary tool, but you need that main piece to use this. The heat gun works great for what I need. Blowing resin, melting plastic sheeting to wrap items. It's much better than the hair dryer I've been using. I don't have another heat gun to compare to. It fits my needs perfectly. I have 4 pieces now, working in getting the rest. If you need this for lightweight heat gun uses, I totally recommend. People that used breast guns for heavy duty purposes have some complaints, I have seen those reviews on YouTube, but for a hobbiest, like me, it's perfect. ... show more

  • Good Concept, But...
Style: MAKERX Heat Gun Only
I've purchased most of the tools in the Worx Maker X family. The concept of an interchangeable tools on a single controller and battery really intrigued me, primarily for use aboard an older sailboat where projects are always on tap. My usage is probably a little more than Worx intended for the Maker X system, but since I already had a number of Worx tools and batteries I decided to give the tools a try. So far, I would rate the scores of the devices from a two to a five in utility and functionality. The heat gun falls right in the middle. It is useful, but in a pretty limited manner. Running on a battery, it struggles to produce a high level of heat output. It will shrink heat sensitive tapes, but slowly. It will allow you to shape some plastics, but PVC pipe is mostly a bridge too far. Stripping paint is possible, but your progress will be very slow, though it does work okay in small tight areas. Battery life is not bad, though the heat gun, as you would expect, will deplete the battery fairly quickly. All in all, I am happy enough with the purchase, but when it comes to the heat gun my enthusiasm is a bit muted. I did have to contact customer service to replace a bad controller and my experience was positive. ... show more

  • Excellent tool
Style: MAKERX Heat Gun Only
I’ve always liked WORX tools and have quite a few of them, quality is always good and fair prices. Initially I was looking for a full size rechargeable heat gun but price and quality didn’t appeal to me. Then I came across the WORX line. I’m very impressed with quality and performance of the heat gun. The fact that it’s lightweight and I can take it outside without worrying about a power cable is great. It’s bigger than I expected and works really well. I will be adding more of these hobby tools in the future. ... show more
