Ever wish you had a circular saw you can use with one hand? The 4-1/2” Worxsaw Compact Circular Saw is for the DIY-er that wants to put a little more muscle and flexibility into their projects. We’ve gone all-in on the maneuverability angle and created a sleek, easy to use, lightweight electrical saw that quickly adjusts cutting depth up to 2” (so you can tear through stock lumber), quickly adjusts for bevel cutting from 0-45, and lets you do all your cutting with one hand by utilizing an ergonomic, comfortable grip. Its 4100 rpm will slice through 2x4s in a single pass. And the smaller blade—4-1/2” compared to the 7-1/4” of a traditional circular saw—requires less power to get up to the same speeds of much larger saws. That puts less strain on the motor and extends the life of the tool. The Worxsaw is made for wood, but it’ll cut many materials. The left-sided blade housing gives you clean lines of sight for your cuts and the dust port lets you attach a vacuum and keep sawdust out of your way. An included parallel guide will come in handy as you and your Worxsaw make quick work of the projects around your shop.

This saw is so compact, and yet able to cut through 2x8 lumber like butter. It is easy to operate one handed and has a very smooth cutting ability. It adjusts easily for different thicknesses and can also do angles. Installing the blade was very simple and the measuring guide is very handy for straight, perfect cuts. The only downsides are that it is extremely loud so earplugs are a must. And the vacuum attachment feature to suck up sawdust is very awkward to use, although I love the idea and appreciate the lack of mess. Finally the hilt is just a little too fat for my female hand even though I got the narrow hilt model. I can just barely reach the safety button with my thumb and engage the trigger with my fingertips at the same time. Despite those drawbacks, I absolutely love this saw and would highly recommend it. I would also highly recommend Worx as a brand since their quality is excellent and their tool designs are very clever with little extras built in. ... show more

I think mine was a previous return, because it didn't come with instructions or the Allen wrench. Grr. I thought I had it set up right, but it went half an inch into the 1"x8" and stopped dead. After trying a few more times, and then swearing for a while, I remembered that this saw actually has good ratings. So I came inside to google if there's a torque knob or something. So here's what I learned: If you're not getting enough power, the blade probably isn't tight enough. Luckily, I have a set of Allen wrenches (thanks, Dad). When you tighten the screw through the blade, press and *hold* the red button on the back of the saw, which will lock the apparatus in place. It's lefty-tighty, right-loosey for some reason (the opposite of normal) so hold the red button and tighten the screw to the left with the Allen wrench until it's really locked on. Presuming I'm talking mostly to other women, here, who aren't going to go nuts and crack anything. Don't go all Hulk Torque! on it, but you want it to be tight enough to really hold the blade. After I got that fixed, it worked beautifully. (And if the instructions had been included in the box, I probably wouldn't have needed help.) I'm doing repairs outside, and it's sooooo much faster than a hand saw, especially with 8" wide boards in the Florida summer heat. Perfect weight, too. Not sure how I lived without it. ... show more

This is a great little saw for doing light to medium work around the house. Has the extra depth needed to actually cut a 2x4 as advertised. It does get very warm with continued use so I wouldn't try to use this as a replacement for a full-sized electric handsaw.

Worx Worxsaw versus Rockwell Compact Circular Saw I am a cabinet maker and am frequently asked to do maintenance and repairs on many 75 year old to 120 year old houses that cover my neighborhood. These homes tend to have many tiny places (closets and cabinets) I need to squeeze myself and my tools into to make repairs. A traditional 7.5 inch circular saw cuts speedily but is too unwieldy for such small spaces as these and a reciprocating saw is frequently too slow and too big. I received the Worx Worxsaw yesterday after spending several hours comparing it to the Rockwell 5 Amp Compact Circular Saw (at nearly twice the price depending on the vendor) which is made by the same Chinese manufacturer as the Worx. Despite all the rave reviews for both saws, I had hesitations about each of them. My concern was that the 4 Amp Worxsaw wouldn't be powerful enough for what I do and that the poor placement of the lock release button on the Rockwell and the Rockwell's 3 extra inches in length would make the saw uncomfortable to use in the cramped quarters I frequently find myself in. I opted for the Worxsaw. It came yesterday and I put it to use today in a tiny closet I needed to partially demolish. My concerns are gone. I love this thing. It cuts through a 2 by 4 effortlessly. It cut 1/2" plywood right along the straight edge I clamped to the board without creeping so alignment of the blade to the footplate is spot on. Depth adjustments are easy. It fits my hand like a tailored leather glove. The lock release is easy to reach and the hand position is genuinely comfortable. It small size makes it incredibly easy to maneuver even in very tight spaces. It even sounds good (you can hear the healthy whine of the gearing inside). The engineers coaxed the perfect amount of torque out of the motor when paired with the thin kerfed blade. Most importantly, the cut surfaces are clean enough for gluing if you need to do so provided you let the tool do its job without forcing it. I rarely review a tool online. This tool is a rare exception. To be fair, I have only had it for a day and have no idea how long it will last. Nevertheless it feels solid. It is not too heavy or too light for its size. I have noticed that Worx sells a similar tool in the UK with a laser attached. I wish I could have purchased that as it would be a help for the kind of work that I do. My recommendation is that you don't concern yourself with the power output in comparison to the Rockwell. This is a stellar tool. ... show more

I work with 1/16” thin woods in my laser projects and find that the larger circular or jig saws tear up the wood when I am cutting out the individual squares to laser. I was leery that this compact saw would be better, but I was tired of having to manually cut out my pieces. The saw comes with a blade with 24 teeth, so I bought an additional blade with 40 teeth to do finer cuts. Since my wood is so thin, I use a work table that has two pieces of wood with a gap in the middle, anchor the wood, and cut down the middle through the gap. From the very first cut, this saw has worked perfectly - it cuts a straight cut with no chipping or tearing of the wood - either for rip or cross cuts. I love it. I also have used it to cut a 1x4 board - again worked perfectly. It is fairly light weight and easy to hold and work. So glad I found this one. ... show more
