    • It's neat that it works without power. It just starts spinning when it heats up!
I see reviews saying it doesn't move much air. While that's true, it does move /enough/ to make it noticeably warmer on the opposite side of the room. I.e., the heat spreads to where we sit more quickly than waiting for it to rise, fill the top of the room, and then fill the room from the top down. So it does exactly what we wanted it to. Pros: -Spreads the heat across the room more quickly than it would spread naturally, without noise and without needing electricity. -Price was in the right range that I was looking for. -It's neat that it works without power. It just starts spinning when it heats up! Cons: -I was surprised that the fan doesn't have a magnet built into the bottom. I plan to add one myself to make sure we don't end up bumping it off the stove and damaging it. -The included thermometer was easily broken by my children simply pushing the pointer. I wish it had a glass cover over the dial to prevent accidental damage. ... show more

The fins are a bit larger than any other of the fans I have (2 others), and much more curved, and yet this fan does not seem to move any more air than the other fans. I am surprised! Anyway, the fan works fine, is well built, and I think is reasonably priced. I do recommend.

We have a wood stove. It is not our main source of heat, but we live in a small town where storms and high winds often leave us without power for hours or days. The stove heats the front part of our home, but the bedrooms stay cool. The addition of this fan has helped move the heat down the hall. Well worth the money.     • Not really a fan
The item looks very nice and once it is up to temp it begins to spin. The problem is there is almost no air flow. The amount of air that it circulates is close to the same amount as when you breath out. This could be improved by changing the angle of the blades but feel there was no R&D and the plan was to make it look good. Additionally the magnetic thermometer that came with the product is defective and will not go over 200 F. To make sure it wasn’t the stove I bought another thermometer and used a heat gun to double check. When the stove reads 500F the thermometer still reads 200F. I do not recommend this item to anyone even if the price is free ... show more

This thing does about 40% of what the built in electric fan does, but without all the noise, or even the need to turn the switch off and on. Therefore I'm going to add another one to the other side of the stove to move more air. What I've noticed, and this is probably the biggest change, is that I can let the fire just simmer in there without the need to keep the fire blazing all day to get heat. I heat my house with a wood stove and thought this might help move the hot air more then the stove blower. It works and spins fast but doesn't seem to move the hot air more than a foot away from the stove. Looks kool though
