I bought it initially as a foot rest that also functions as a small storage space. I ended up using it as a stepping stool also assuming it would be sturdy enough to hold my weight regardless of how many times I used it as such. Weighing barely 150 lbs, I thought this would hold me up no problem over time without any regret of potentially breaking it. But after a couple months of using it as a stepping stool here and there, the wood inside the top cushion cracked in half, so now I can no longer safely step on it or even use it as a seat. If you plan on only buying this as a foot rest that also acts as a storage compartment then go for it, but if you also intend on using it as stepping stool every now and then, I don't recommend this ottoman. ... show more
