  • Cool little machine!
Size: WAND 2.5W
Takes some time to learn each software. The free Laser GRBL software is really easy to learn and has a really cool program for programming your cut orders. Been having an issue with it programming a line outside the work area and hitting the hard limiter. Pretty sure that is the software and nothing to do with the hardware. Also downloaded lightburn free trial which is way more advanced for drawing up your own art to line by line print. Haven't found a way to do the other print methodes the first program can do yet but I'm just scratching the surface with that program. For the price, this is a super cool little machine! ... show more

  • Tremendous little tool... supremely versatile and incredibly accurate.
For (JUST) under $100, this is probably the most ongoing fun a geek/maker/creator can experience. Is it the same as my TOOCAH 20W with full enclosure? No. But it's still an EXCELLENT starting point for someone wanting to make their own engraved mug (long process for such a low-power laser, but achievable), or maybe their own custom coasters or a cardboard cutout jigsaw puzzle... customized with ANY image the consumer would like... One of the best parts about this machine is the micro precision that is possible. Couple that with the fact that the laser comes fully built out of the box (just mounting the laser, which is VERY simple), and you have quite possibly the perfect engraver on which someone new to laser engraving can "cut their teeth," so to speak... Someone already steeped in laser engraving can also use this little gem as an introduction to the world of laser engraving for their child or a friend who's new to laser engraving. It integrates flawlessly with LaserGRBL and, for those of us that have dumped Windows (Linux users), this is magnificent. Lightburn made the decision to stop "officially" supporting Linux after 1.7.00 (2024), so alternatives became critical to Linux users, thereafter. One can still find the older versions, but the improvements/enhancements will no longer be supported for Linux. Perhaps Lightburn will change their mind with the MILLIONS of people deciding to switch to Linux, due to Windows 11 limitations, forced upgrades, and ridiculous requirements... time will tell. WiFi connectivity might be great, for some, but I'll never use it. I have multiple machines across a USB hub (powered, of course), and can dedicate individual machines to specific tasks (one for mugs, one for leather, one for cork, etc.). As always, I urge caution and safety. Laser engravers, while unbelievably fun, come with inherent risks (especially if one is not careful). Wear your eye protection whenever the laser is active. Whether the consumer wants to make their own custom-engraved leather belt/purse/phone case, or simply figure out if this might make a good tool to earn some additional income, I consider this to be the perfect gateway for entry into the world of laser engraving. For the money, though small and low power, I found this to be an incredible value. Few purchases come with both long-term fun AND the potential to earn money. This is one of them. I can't recommend this highly enough. ... show more

  • Beginner‑Friendly Laser Engraver: Easy to Start With and Solid Results
I've been using the WIZMAKER WAND Mini 2.5W Laser Engraver, and I find it to be an excellent entry-level option for anyone just starting with laser projects. The 2.5W diode laser has a tiny 0.04mm spot size, which enables it to create clean, precise marks on materials such as wood, leather, and paper. It handles basic engraving tasks without feeling overwhelming. For beginners, this machine is very user-friendly. The setup process was straightforward, and it works with commonly available free engraving software like LaserGRBL. This means you don’t have to face a steep learning curve or invest in expensive programs to start creating. Its compact size and simple controls make it ideal for those trying out engraving for the first time or seeking a hobby-focused machine for home, studio, or light crafting projects. I also appreciate that it supports both USB and Wi-Fi connection options, making it easy to send designs from a laptop or phone. While it may not cut through thick materials like high-power CO₂ or fiber lasers, it does a great job of engraving surface details and designs. It's very forgiving for beginners learning about layout, software, and material handling. Overall, this engraver is beginner-friendly, easy to set up, and capable of delivering solid results for everyday engraving projects. It's a fun choice if you're just starting in laser engraving and want something simple and effective! ... show more

  • A Beginner’s Take on the Wizmaker Compact Laser Engraver
The Wizmaker Compact Laser Engraver definitely comes with a learning curve. Some reviewers before me mentioned that they already had experience and found this to be a piece of cake. Well, readers, I am a true beginner when it comes to laser engraving. I also use a Mac, and most of the manual is clearly geared toward Windows users. The program the seller recommends does not work on a Mac, so based on another reviewer’s suggestion, I downloaded AtomStack Studio. Setup itself was easy. The machine comes assembled, and connecting it to my computer and the software was straightforward. After that, the intuition pretty much ended. I had to Google videos to move forward. One thing I could not figure out was how to focus the laser, and if that information is in the manual, I could not find it. Despite having no clue what I was doing at first, I am a dreamer. I ordered this machine because I wanted to engrave sterling silver. Welp, the fine print says “coated metal.” I was still determined to try, especially since I had only seen this engraver used on wood. To work around that limitation, I tried oxidizing the metal and ran five passes, and it worked! I definitely have room for improvement, but it is a start. For the current asking price of $89.99, this feels like an amazing value. It is a well-made, serious machine, and I know that with time, I will be engraving like a pro. ... show more
