  • Works Great but Set Your Lenses Correctly
Tested with a Sony A7 Riii and A7 Riv. This remote works perfectly for me but it took some experimentation to figure out how to make it work with various types of lenses. I explain that in the "Focus Control" part. Shutter Release - This remote works flawlessly as a remote shutter release. I've used many wired remote releases, IR releases and a radio-linked version, but this is the first Bluetooth version I've tried and the fact that I don't need to add anything to the camera's hot shoe and plug it into the camera body is great. Just take this remote control out of my camera bag and it works. Pairing is easy (see below). Focus Control - If you are into macro photography and utilize focus stacking, this is the control for you! If the previous sentence made no sense, skip this paragraph. Slide the switch on the side of the remote to “FOCUS.” CRITICAL NOTE – If any lens you are using has a switch ON THE LENS for AF/MF control, that switch on the lens must be in the AF position. On the 90mm macro, instead of a switch, that control is by sliding the focus ring on the lens barrel. In the Function control on the camera, set focus mode to MF. Now the remote can control focus of the lens in and out. I start my stack by focusing at the near (closest) edge of the object, shoot, click the “+” button 3 times and shoot again; repeating until I have reached the far edge that I am interested in. I find that 3 clicks of the focus button is perfect for each step in the stack I am shooting. Take those images (I shoot ARW) into whatever stacking program you use. For me that means import to Lightroom and use the Helicon export preset. C1 control and AF-On work perfectly. Zoom Control - I don't have any powered zoom lenses so I couldn't test for zoom control. Bottom Line - It sure does work great as a release and for focus control. You don't have to connect anything to the camera - just pull it out of your camera bag and it's ready. Pairing: (Looking at Menu screens in Sony A7 Riii and Riv) Network Page 2 >Bluetooth ON Network Page 3 > Bluetooth Remote ON Network Page 2 > Pairing, hold remote "+" and Main button for 7 seconds >OK >OK. If red light, try it again but mine worked first time. The camera and remote remain paired even after the camera is powered off and days pass between use. ... show more

  • Easy to configure and use but very expensive Sony remote commander
This is an easy to use and configure remote commander for Sony cameras (I am using it with a Sony A7RIV, Sony A7IV and Sony A7C). Included configuration instructions were clear and worked (unlike the one for the Canon cameras). I was setup and working in very short order. My only criticism is that is expensive and is restricted to triggering autofocus and shutter operation. There is no timer functions and requires you to use the camera to set up delayed shutter operation which seems poor for a remote this expensive. However it is functional and works as advertised. • Easy to pair
I am very pleased with this remote. It is a basic remote but was easy to pair with my camera. Once I had my camera up on a tripod I was able to use the remote from inside the car with my windows rolled up in order to escape the mosquitos.

  • WOW !! this brand actually works.
I take a lot of pictures from a tripod of birds, so a good remote shutter release is important to me. I have a Sony A7c with a 200-600mm zoom. Originally I purchased the Aodelan RMT-P1BTA well because it was half the price. Well, you get what you pay for. The Aodelan was flakey and inconsistent. Redid firmware in the camera reset settings new battery everything I could think of. This remote so far is working first time and every time. Save your money and headache if you want a remote get this one. ... show more

  • Ummm... what about controlling more features?!
Why does Sony always make human interfaces so difficult. They really need an XD (experience design) product manager. I would have liked full control over my camera with this, as I'm seeing myself in an external monitor. While it's solidly built and works great, it's very limited and I have to get out of the set to go to the camera to make necessary changes. That really sucks! ... show more

  • My favorite remote
I have used many remotes over the years but this one is my favorite. It is Bluetooth connected, Has great range and is very compact. I turn my camera on, push the remote button and done. I also shoot stack focus macros and I find 3 clicks between frames works perfect. I'm using a Sony A7Riii and 90mm F2.8 Macro. Works flawlessly and fits almost anywhere. I put a lanyard on it so I don't lose it. ... show more
