I got the Plotanis 15" Dual-Zone Wine Fridge to replace a generally less capable unit from Colozo. The Plotanis arrives in a large shipping box. As is typical for heavy items, you can remove the sides and top of the box by cutting a few nylon straps. The item is fairly well packed, but I did notice that one of the screw-in feet had cracked at some point. Uh oh. Ah, but it's NOT "uh-oh" because this is apparently a common enough occurrence that there were spare feet in the envelope of included stuff. The apparent build quality of the Plotanis is pretty good. The only thing I don't love is that the coil for the refrigerant loop in the back is pretty exposed. I let the unit sit for 24 hours (to let the lubricant in the refrigerant drain down to the compressor), and then I plugged it in. The operating noise is pretty low, with the unit having a quiet compressor. The compressor is small, but it's still able to remove a decent amount of heat energy, even when loaded with quite a bit of thermal mass. From empty to full, the temperature stabilized in a couple hours. Not bad. The controls are fine, but there are limits to the temperature ranges for the different zone, so you can't turn the unit into a more conventional refrigerator. The drawers are nice, especially since all but the bottom one are equipped with slides. The hinge point of the door is such that the door doesn't necessarily need to extend past the width of the cabinet - which is great for tight installations. The only thing you'll need to keep an eye out for is that the slides can hit the rubber seal if the door isn't opened quite far enough. The door isn't prone to popping back open on closing, which is nice, but you may still want to adjust the leveling feet to have some rise in the front. As far as the aesthetics go, the unit looks great, and definitely in keeping with the $450 price (with $250 off coupon, at the time of this review). The only thing that's not in keeping with the overall level of quality is the door lock. I think a cheap tubular lock would have been fine, but Plotanis instead opted for a hex latch. Oof. If you're trying to keep kids out of the fridge, you better hope they're under 10 (or not very bright). Recommended ... show more

We replaced our old wine refrigerator only because of the noisy compressor. It worked fine otherwise but had to be relegated to a garage. The is better but gurgles and hums as expected. The problem is that the shelves will only fit the slimmer wine bottles. Anything on the “bulbous” side is a tight fit. The only other thing is the lighting is a choice of blue, green, or pink… just plain white would have been nice. ... show more

What I love about the Plotanis Beverage and Wine Cooler: • It's delivered on its own pallet and packaged extremely well. It arrived fast, but it is in perfect condition. • It's beautiful! Stainless steel and black modern design with optional color LED lights makes it stand out. It looks good free-standing, but also built into your cabinetry. (Perfect for a wet bar.) • Minimal set-up involved. • It holds a ton of beverages. (Upto 60 cans and 20 bottles.) The shelves are adjustable, too. So if you want tall cans or 16oz sodas, or a combination of both, there is room. • Each side has its own temp setting, and because it's has separated sides, you aren't wasting energy getting the beverage you want. • Each door has a lock, so you can keep all your drinks to yourself! We got this beverage fridge for our gaming room. It looks cool, and has made the space quite the hangout with everyone's favorite drinks not far away. I've had the Plotanis 12 Inch Wine Cooler Refrigerator 18 Bottles Wine Fridge for about five months now and I can tell you that I find it very useful for wine and other chilled beverages storage. Throughout the summer I kept bottles of whites, roses, and champagne chilled to about 44 degrees. By the way, I found that the bottom shelf was the best place for champagne bottles but you can only get two bottles on the shelf due to the shape of the bottles. Also, when I first loaded up the cooler I didn't realize the depth of the shelves so I mistakenly thought I could only get two wine bottles per shelf. Actually, by placing the two outer bottles with the cork facing front and the third middle bottle with the cork facing inward, you can easily load up three standard 750ml bottles per shelf. Anyway, the unit is very stylish, has worked flawlessly so far, and is a great addition to your home if you are serious about keeping your wine at the proper serving temperature. Now that autumn is upon us, I think I may change up the inventory to Pinot Noirs and other reds (and raise the wine cooler temperature to about 55 degrees) and see how that works out. ... show more
