We have a couple of full size, name-brand, wind-proof umbrellas that work well plus a couple of small ‘travel umbrellas’ similar to this one from SmartTrends. The attached photo shows those latter umbrellas to the right of this one. The opening/closing mechanism works well, just like the one to its right in the photo and it feels better made than that umbrella. I don’t, however, like the handle on either of them, finding it too short to hold the umbrella securely. To be fair, the Amazon listing does say the handle is only 2.7” long but the umbrella on the far right in the photo has a much beefier handle. The Amazon listing describes this umbrella as windproof and as wind-resistant. I doubt that the former is true, our larger ‘windproof’ umbrellas have a vented design that allows wind to escape without compromising their rejection of rain. This SmartTrends umbrella seems pretty standard by comparison. That said, it is a good choice to take along if size and weight are a concern.

Works just as I would expect an umbrella to work! Kept me dry in the rain on my way in to work from the staff parking lot. It was easy enough to pop open and a little more difficult to get it to close back up but I still got it after a couple of tries. I appreciate the little carrying bag it comes with so you can slip it in there if it is a little damp and then it won’t get your bag or your car or whatever wet when you’re traveling with it after use. I think it’s a nice simple straightforward product that does what it’s supposed to do without any issues so far.

A great full-size umbrella that shrinks down for easy storage. It is well-made and the mechanics are well designed; with one button you can set the umbrella up and with the same button you can collapse the top and then manually push it down to fit into a bag or even a purse.

This umbrella is about a foot long when fully retracted. The handle is small, but big enough to get a decent grip. Pressing the button smoothly deploys the umbrella. It has eight ribs and feels sturdy. It's big enough for two people if you don't mind being close. Pressing the button again retracts the umbrella partially. It can then be fully retracted manually & comes with a cover for storage and protection.

This umbrella ready to open and close with press of a button and is made with a quality material. It’s a little smaller than it appears in the photos, but not too small that it doesn’t work. Overall I think it’s a good value and do recommend it.

This nicely-constructed umbrella when collapsed and stored in its matching sleeve is the perfect size for stashing in the side pocket of a shoulder bag or piece of carry-on luggage when on the move. Made of a good quality nylon -like material, it opens easily and quickly with the touch of a button in the handle, and retracts just as smoothly when pushed down from the top. When in use, it is a nicely-domed full-sized umbrella canopy held in place with jointed plastic and metal ribs. It's size makes it easy to store anywhere you might find yourself needed an umbrella in a pinch, including the car's glove compartment, which is where I plan to keep this one. This umbrella is quality and utility when you need it at a very good price.
