I bought this to insulate from the ground while camping. I have only used it in 45 to 55° temps. But with down sleeping bags, we were roasty toasty on this mat! It is a bit bulky, so shame I can't use it backpacking. But it is perfect for when I don't have to be conscientious of space.

This double-sided aluminum moisture-proof mat does what it’s supposed to do. It provides a good barrier against moisture and works well for outdoor use. The material feels durable, and it’s easy to clean and reuse. However, it’s a bit thinner than I expected, so it doesn’t provide much cushioning. It works better as a moisture barrier than as a comfort mat. Folding and storing it is convenient, but it can crease easily if not handled carefully. Very useful to set this down as a first layer of insulation on tent floor below our sleeping pads. Helped us with a cold night when we camped in Sequoia. Sizing is great, even with 3 regular size pads, there’s still extra gaps/space both sides for our dog and our packs. I’d totally recommend it!

Not super thick but def noticed a temp.difference when sleeping on the ground. Used an inflatable mattress above it..folded up nicely. And I bet you can use for other thermal insulation as well

I got this for a snowshoe trip my kid went on. I admit, I may have been a little hyper focused on making sure they stayed warm when I purchased this. I'm one of those people that are always cold and wearing a coat, so it's a thing for me. It wasn't on the list of necessaries but I thought this mat under the R5 sleep pad (on the list), with the cold weather mummy bag and heat pads could only be good. It didn't add too much weight to the pack and extra warmth is invaluable in the cold. My kid thought I was doing too much. When the trip was over they told me they had the warmest tent in camp because they lined the tent floor with this! MOM WIN!🏅 I'm glad this kept my kid a little warmer in the snow. This is so thin. Used 1 time and from people walking on it, the thing just came apart. Ripping and the silver stuff coming off. I would not recommend.

I only gave this 4 stars because it does tear easy. This kept us warm tent camping in 30 degree weather having it on top of our air mattress. It is a must have for cold weather tent camping I believe.
