I like this item because you get two good pieces of hardware for less than what you would pay for them separately. I use the aluminum mount brackets frequently in several different ways. They are good quality. The gum drop stud is an excellent base for fiberglass whips. In my most recent application I was putting a heavy, five-foot Firestik on the gum drop. The gum drop works great, but that antenna is pretty heavy, and the aluminum bracket had a bit more flex from the heavy load than what I was comfortable with on a Jeep that's always used off-road. A lighter whip, even a five-footer, would work fine with the aluminum bracket supplied. This is a really good item.

STRONG ANTENNA MOUNT
I got this mount along with a 305-550 5000-watt Wilson TRUCKER antenna. The mount appears to be plenty strong. I put a stainless HD barrel-spring between this mount and the antenna. One thing I added that should have been included is EIGHT stainless 1/4" flat-washers, one under each bolt-head and one under each lock-washer. The flat-washers prevent the bolt-heads and split-lock washers from digging into the mount surface. One very peculiar situation I ran into that I find is becoming all too common in this Chinese world --- although the stainless bolts are indeed standard 1/4x20 thread, and the stainless nuts are 7/16" HEX, the silly bolt-heads require a METRIC 10-MM wrench --- this is merely an inconvenience that required me making two extra trips back to the tool racks before getting the right size wrench to hold the bolt-heads. I smeared a coating of anti-sieze onto the threads of the co-ax connector and also on the bolt-threads, so that in the future everything will easily un-screw. I like the way that the fat base of the stud-mount spreads the flex-load over a much broader area, thus bracing and reinforcing the foundation of the antenna assembly.

Great mount. I move at high speeds and get into bumpy terrain and brush my antenna against low limbs. This thing hasn't loosened, moved, or anything else. It has stayed strong.

Wilson is reliable.
I’ve used these before. Easy to install and tough to kill. I usually get several years out of them on each truck. I just take them apart and clean the salt out in the spring to keep the SWR readings low.

solid part
This part of my antenna was solid and held up fine however the top part snapped off at the base of the coil when I hit a low hanging tree limb I was only going about 10 MPH and did not seem to hit it very hard but it was enough to snap off the top of the antenna it need to be steel where it connects instead of plastic

Truck mount for everyone
Awesome bracket for installing CB antenna. Keeps the bugs and dirt away from the wires. The only issue I had is with newer trucks they need longer bolts to reach and secure together.
