What I like: - allows me to completely empty my rain barrels for cleaning - feels less work cranking than pumping to move the water - portable, and easy to store What I don't like: - sharp edges of thin feed pipe - wobble and flex when used - a filter that doesn't - no thread or hose adapter on output end to outflow pipe I have a couple of rain barrels, and both have faucets a few inches up from the bottom. This means that unless I want to precariously tip them on their stands there is always a bit of water stuck at the bottom which makes cleaning and maintenance a pain. This barrel pump and bung wrench set seemed like an ideal solution. The pump consists of three thin sections of aluminum pipe, the pump itself, and a small U-shaped outflow pipe. For the aluminum input pipe be sure to note that two have flared ends and one does not. The plastic "filter" screws onto the pipe with threads at both ends. These pipes are thin, and I was concerned about bending them or deforming them throughout setting up and using the pump, especially as the whoel pump is held by the threaded bung clamped around the pipe. Not only is the pipe thin, but it has been poorly threaded so there were many sharp edges and rough pieces of waste thread pointing out ready to cut or splinter into unsuspecting fingers. The pump itself is a cast block of metal, and you bolt the handle onto the crank in its center. It arrived oiled and moving freely, but feels like a piece of low quality military surplus. The action turned freely, and with the outflow pipe connected I could easily get water moving at a rate suitable for filling watering cans or pumping pumping out the bottom of the barrel for cleaning. The flow rate to crank efficiency isn't enough to convince me to empty the whole barrel this way, but for five or ten gallons it will work just fine. Even with the bung screwed down and the pipe clamped firmly in place there is a lot, and I mean A LOT, of wobble and flex when turning the handle. So much in fact that I've taken to holding the pump body stable with one hand while turning the handle with the other. This makes me wonder how long it is before the pipes will split at the join with the pump body. Talking of the pipes again, the U-shaped outflow pipe seems to be designed to be small enough to foul the handle as much as possible. Due to the placement of the bung on my rain barrel I had some problems getting the outflow to a useful and usable location but found one eventually. The kit includes a small, thin piece of expanding plastic hose which allowed me to get water clear of the top of the barrel and into my watering can, but annoyingly the end of the outflow pipe is not threaded or ribbed to securely hold a hose attachment. I'll be clamping a hosepipe to the end as the plastic concertina hose is already splitting, but again wonder about the weight and stress I'll be putting on the joins. I plan to leave the pump attached to my rain barrel for filling watering cans, etc. but am already wondering how long it will hold up to the Florida sunshine. It works as a pump but does not exude a sense of durability, so I feel I can only give it a functional but for how long 3 out fo 5 stars. ... show more

1. This product does not fit the threaded bung for 15 gallon or 30 gallon drums. 2. Interior seal not made for fuel. This product will leak out the top about 30% on every pump.

    • Great to have for fuel or oil
I currently have this for my fuel tank, its something i bought off of Amazon that has about 32 Gallons. it sits on the ground so basically this is a replacement if needed. I have the same one and its worked fine for over two years and still going strong. I saw this and was able to snag another one for backup just in case. I don't think i will need it anytime soon because this product is really good and holding together great. ... show more
