Caveat: Embroidery isn't my usual medium, so I have no expertise The concept for my current project — embroidery and hand quilting on quilting cotton over flannel — required gold and silver embroidery floss, and this product is more than adequate. Lessons I've learned the hard way: –Focus on untwisting the threads instead of sliding them apart –Couching is the easiest technique, but things like outline stitch are more than possible if you 1. use two or three strands max, 2. use beeswax or Thread Magic to minimize friction, and 3. maintain tension while pulling each stitch through. –Threading the needle with a single thread of metallic along with regular cotton or polyester floss can give the metallic effect while minimizing tangling Multiple reviewers have struggled to differentiate between the two gold colors in the pack — even in person the difference is very subtle, but there's no need to struggle because each skein is labeled and the two golds have different labels. ... show more

This metallic thread is just what I wanted. Firm but not too stiff. Easy to work with. There is no discernible difference between the two gold colors but that’s not an issue for me. Will buy again.
