I have a Brother 550D embroidery machine and am enjoying making projects for my grandchildren. To get me started, I purchased a set of 40 spools of embroidery thread from Madam Sew that matches my Brother color numbering system. It was great but I needed more colors for some of the Disney projects. I then ordered the 63 spool Simthread set which filled in some of the missing colors. This set also had the Brother color numbering system although the colors are slightly different. But, as I expanded my designs and started purchasing embroidery patterns from other websites, I needed more colors. This caused a huge problem which ended up being quite a conundrum!! I started researching other options of threads and wow...there are tons of options! Some are pretty cool but are also pretty spendy. Since I had already started with the Brother numbering system, I really didn't want to have to start over with another brand but as I started exploring the NewBrothread and Simthread options, all of the available sets specifically for Brother gave me the same colors that I already had! And, I couldn't find an option to purchase just the colors that I needed. I finally discovered that the 120 spool set from Simthread actually contained different colors from their 63 count set at a very reasonable price ($76.99). It's a great set and I think I will be able to find whatever color I may need amongst the 120 spools. The only problem is that it has an entirely different numbering system (S001-S120) which doesn't correspond to the Brother numbering system. They do provide a color chart so you can try to compare colors from the pattern to the chart, but it is definitely not ideal. While it is a pain in the you-know-what, it is something I will live with due to the circumstances. Simthread...if you see this, please add a conversion chart!!! If there was one, I would definitely give you 5 stars!!

I purchased this thread thinking it would be a great value and a good way to get a ton of colors off the bat and I could add to it as I went. I checked the reviews and really didn't see many people having problems, until after I started having problems and checked the 3 star reviews. There I found others who had the same issues as me. Some colors worked just fine, most of them snapped in my machine. Threads breaking constantly, nesting under my work and shredding. I returned them and switched to Isacord and haven't had a problem since. Not everyone has the same problem, perhaps its an incompatibility with my machine, a bernette b70deco. So if that's what you have, you should avoid this.

I bought this set to practice on my first embroidery machine , I got them on time no problem with quality of thread but I got 119 spools only and no spools and shade cards also , I was so ready to start my embroidery that I missed checking everything

I like this thread. Colors are vibrant. It doesn’t fray or shred. The reason I gave it a 4 star is because it doesn’t have a way to secure the loose end after using. Other brands that I have bought, have had a way to keep the thread secure.

A few months ago I purchased the 63 spool kit and was quite happy with it. I wanted more colors, so I bought this 120 set. On the 120 spools that I just received, the thread comes off the spool opposite (backwards) to how the previous 63 spools do--and backwards from how all my other thread does. My machine calls for the thread to unroll from under the back, and to make this happen with these new threads I have to turn the spool opposite from how it is intended. Also, I ordered the 120 threads in part because it was advertised as being completely different colors from the 63 spools I bought previously. This seems to be the case, but the numbering system is completely different, so that makes it very hard to integrate these two sets of threads together. I'm overall happy with the quality of the thread, but these 2 issues significantly impact their ease of usability for me.
