I am an HTV hobbyist, I'm not running a business or anything. That said, I've been using ink and vinyl transfers for years to make Halloween costumes, personalized gifts, t-shirts for volunteer events, girls' weekends, or family trips, etc. I do it enough that I invested in a big clamshell heat press a few years back... and after trying it out a few times, it's pretty much stayed in a closet. The issue is that it had inconsistent heat and a confusing control panel that I had to relearn each time I used it. It was easier just to use my large handheld iron-style heat press most of the time. To say this Whubefy Auto Heat Press is a gamechanger would be an understatement. I will be honest, I am not familiar with the Whubefy brand and, at this price point (less than $100 more than the clamshell one I bought!), I was not expecting much. It is heavy duty, emphasis on the heavy! My friendly delivery driver, who can toss a queen-sized mattress around like it's a queen-sized pillow, really struggled to bring this one to the door. It is extremely well-packaged and comes with heat-proof gloves, a few sample iron-ons, and a simple, easy-to-read instruction booklet. And not that this matters a ton, but this looks like a sleek and modern device, whereas traditional clamshell presses look old and industrial. The hardest thing about this machine is clearing space for it on a sturdy table in your craft room or area and physically lifting it on to said table. The difficulty stops there, if you've operated an iron before, it's extremely intuitive. The heat provided is accurate and consistent with no noticeable hold or cold spots--even on the first ones I did, it was a one-and-done situation without having to redo any corners. The swing-away motion makes it so easy to set up and smooth out a shirt or other item on the press as you've got full access and visibility and aren't risking burning your knuckles. The fact that it works on its own (that is, no need to use your hands to apply or maintain pressure) frees you up to go prep the next item, improving efficiency if you're doing several items in a row. Two little extras it comes with are (1) a chart you can stick on the machine that lists common temps, times and pressures for various materials, which is super handy, and (2) a few sample iron-ons. The latter weren't really my style but I appreciated them anyway--it was able to apply them to scrap fabric to test out the press without having to first go cut some vinyl or print anything. I also got a kick out of just placing a collared shirt on the platen and giving it a good, dry-cleaner's style press! I only have the single station unit, and that's just fine for a hobbyist like me. The dual station appears to require a bit more setup and also workspace. However, if you have a small business or do a lot of large runs of shirts or other items, I can see how the dual station would improve the process even more. All in all, with the price point of this being barely above an entry-level clamshell press, I don't know why anyone would choose one of those over this. I love how evenly this applies hit to my heat transfer vinyl. It is a nice wide base to apply a large patch to anything. I love it attaches all the vinyl at the same time reducing the chance of bubbles or rips. This makes things stick where they should and not where it should not. Heavy Duty build quality. The media could not be loaded. I’m so in love with this heat press. My old one was a manual adjustment for the pressure and there was a lot of guess work involved. This is automatic everything with a digital display. The temperature is adjusted by 5° increments so you may have to adjust accordingly. It lifts up & down evenly so your item doesn’t suffer ghosting w pattern movement. It’s quick to heat up. I’ll need to read up on the pressure now to see what is best for can coolers. I’m so happy I found d it! It comes with some nice gloves, a couple HTV patterns, and a clamp to clamp the machine down to your workspace (the machine is pretty heavy so I didn't use it). There's a temperature reference sheet to stick on your machine. Tomorrow I make some shirts, magnets & koozies for our business to sell. The wide 15”x 15” plate holds plenty of them on there. ... show more
