  • Well worth the investment!
We bought this tent as a replacement to our last tent that was a 12 person Instant tent. The space was plenty but it did not hold up to the wind. We had it strapped to my truck to keep the walls from caving in on us while inside. You could hear the rain fly flapping in the wind at night which made for a terrible nights sleep. After replacing some parts because they broke form the wind the tent never was the same. So we decided to make the investment and get the canvas tent from Whiteduck. We got the 20’ Avalon Bell Tent and for a family of 5 we have more than enough room plus our belongings. It has already held up to 20+ winds and it is quiet inside compared to our last tent. The kids enjoy the extra room inside! We have nothing but good things to say about it so far! One minor issue is our front door zipper, if it comes all the way out it will take at least 2 people to get it zipped back up. It does weigh more than what you think it would so double lifting is a must! Rebar stakes are included which adds to the rigidity of the tent and keeping it sturdy in the wind. All in all this tent is well worth the investment! ... show more

  • A great tent at a great price.
Size: 13' (4M) Material Type: Water Repellent
This is our first Canvas Tent. We had been looking at Wall tents, but we really liked all the windows of the Avalon Bell Tent. We live in a warm client, so the windows are a must. We couldn't be happier with the tent. Setup could not be easier. I had watched several YouTube videos before purchasing the tent. In all the videos, the reviewer assembled the tent first, then added the ground sheet. Our tent came with the ground sheet already zippered to the tent, so we went ahead and assembled the tent with the ground sheet attached. I don't think it took 2 of us 30 minutes to assemble the tent the first time. In none of the videos I watched, did they ever mention staking down the ground sheet, so this step surprised me. These stakes are important to keep the ground sheet from bunching up. One very important step I learned was making sure the main pole is center in the top of the tent. If it is off just a little bit, the walls won't be even and the tent will look weird. We spent a lot of time making sure the main pole was centered and plumb. After that, the rest is easy. The canvas is thick and heavy. After we put up the tent, we sprayed it down with water for a couple minutes and let it dry. No water came in during this wet down. We had a serious downpour not long after we assembled the tent and everything inside stayed nice and dry. No water leaked in through the tent walls or through the ground sheet. The 4 meter tent has plenty of room for a few twin size beds or a combo of twins, full and queen size beds. My son and I slept in the tent. He slept on a twin bed and I slept on a full size bed. He was on one side of the main pole and I was on the other side. We could have had 1 more twin size bed in the tent. With just the two beds, we had plenty of room for our gear. With the full and twin bed, there was plenty of room between the beds to still get around the tent. Two full size beds would work too, but not as much of a path between the two beds. I'm pretty sure with two queen size beds, there'd be very little, if any, room to walk around the tent without crossing over a bed, but there would still be room for gear. With just one side of the tent used for bed(s), there is still plenty of room for a table and chairs, a desk or other furniture. If you need a camp stove, it will reduce the space for added beds/furniture. We went with the 4 meter because we needed the tent right away. We wanted the 5 meter tent, but couldn't wait the month or so for it to be delivered. We are happy with the 4 meter, but the extra room of the 5 meter would be really nice. So far we've only used it in the backyard. We purchased it for an immediate need as we needed extra space for our son to sleep while we had a family member stay with us for a month. He was very happy with the tent. The coldest it got down at night was 36 degrees. With the windows shut and just a couple comforters, he sleep very well. He didn't get cold at all. Most nights that were in the 40s and 50s he slept with the windows open. We are looking forward to using it outside of the backyard. I'm really looking forward to going out into the mountains with a camp stove in below freezing temps. I think this tent will work out really nice for cold weather camping with a camp stove. We may purchase a portable A/C unit (not a window unit) and use the stove jack opening for the exhaust to see how it works in hot weather. As long as it removes the humidity and cools the tent a few degrees, I think it will work well in hot weather too. ... show more

  • LOVE THIS TENT
I paid extra for this tent because it's F'ing gorgeous. That being said, even though I give it 5 stars, it's not without a few minor lacking improvements. It's literally a hair away from being the absolute perfect tent. One of my windows had 3 small holes in the mesh. I feel this should have been caught, but it's easy enough to repair. Still, for the money.. Kinda annoyed with that. Including a mesh and canvas repair kit would be awesome. The knots on most of the guy lines are all wrong, and many of them are loose and will slip open if you don't either tighten them up or retie them properly. Just simple stuff like the proper knots for joining 2 ends of the bungee cord together at the tent attachment points and a proper bowline loop for the stake end. The large stakes drift when you try to hammer them in because the points shaped like a chisel. I took mine to the grinding wheel and put a proper point on them all. I'd much rather have the large nail style stakes. Since you have to hammer these bent rebar style stakes off center, they also want to bend much easier if you are staking in hard or rocky terrain. For rocky terrain, I use a cordless hammer drill and a 1/2" masonry bit for large stakes and 5/16" bit for the smaller ones. The included mallet came apart on the 2nd use. when tightening the guy lines, it wants to roll and saw through the bungee loops. The rolling action put on the bungee loops make the locks want to pull open all that much easier. I modified this by adding some 1" stainless steel rings to all of my bungee loops for the guy lines to thread through. No more sawing or added tension trying to spring open the locks. Draw a target on the floor for the center pole! Measure it out first and take all of the guess work out of positioning it dead center. I've used this tent many times now, and in all kinds of weather. Snow, rain, and hot desert locations. I use a large, fancy Winnerwell stove for snowy conditions and it all heats up quite well. It really is a great tent and I look forward to many many years of use! ... show more
