This safe is a good deal for the size, functions, and benefits it offers. It is not so heavy that you can't move it, although it can be anchored to the wall or floor to make it difficult for others to move it, and it is pretty spacious inside. It seems to be sturdy and secure made of welded steel alloy on the outside, which is fire-resistant (meaning it will hold fire off for a while), but not likely entirely fireproof. It should keep valuables secure, and I actually put two small fireproof boxes that could be carried off inside this safe so their contents are safer. The instructions are little confusing in spots, but mostly pretty good. The instructions for how to initially open the safe with the key manually are confusing and incomplete. Basically, turn the dial to the left before sliding down the cover below which hides the keyhole, then insert the key, turn it to the left, and then turn the dial to the right and it should open. There are 3 big locking bars that open when you do this, and they close back up when you lock it. Make sure you don't leave anything, especially the keys, inside the safe before locking it back up. Setting up my fingerprint access was easy and works great every time, and you can set up multiple people so others have access too, if desired. There is additionally an option to key in a password on the keypad, which can be programmed in. There is a pre-set one, and you can supposedly change it, but I haven't been able to get that to work, so accidentally set off the alarm in the process of trying. So I know that works. :) Using the unlock features without the key requires batteries, which aren't included. There is an alert to let you know if the batteries are getting low, but they also included an emergency back-up battery pack you can plug into the front if the batteries are dead and you don't have the key. Overall, this seems like a decent, secure, good sized safe that works well to protect your valuables. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. From the outside this is a very nice safe. It's heavy, but manageable for 1 strong person to move around. There are 3 different ways to open the safe, a key, a numeric touch pad combination, or a fingerprint. The fingerprint and numeric combo are battery powered and take 4 batteries. There is an external battery pack that you can plug in to a slot on the outside in case you don't have the keys and the internal batteries die. I haven't tried that yet, but I would think it will work. There are aspects of this safe that I don't like. The inside looks nice with orange leather. But there is a drawer at the top which is made from 100% plastic, and it feels like it. The outside is so solid, but once you open it up it just feels cheap. While expensive this is sturdy, secure & definitely locked with multiple options to open. When looking for a safe I wanted one this size, which is ample for fire arms, jewelry, cash and important documents. So I can say it's worth it just for the size. Secondly I really like the way it is designed on the inside allowing for shelving and different compartments. I also love that you can use fingerprint, code or key to open it... which gives you peace of mind if one option for some reason does not work, although all have been working for us. The only think I wish is that the alarm was louder .... it's fine but it's not alarming so to speak... it could definitely be louder. Overall I can recommend. ... show more

I recently had the chance to test out the WhirShril Safe, and all things considered, I'm happy with how well it performs. This safe has a number of high-end features that make it a dependable choice for protecting your priceless items. Be prepared to need two people in order to lift it! It's important to note that there are a few chintzy parts that could be improved. Now let's get into the specifics. This safe's dual password system, which combines fingerprint and digital password capability, is one of its noteworthy features. You have the choice of opening the safe using a digital password, your fingerprint, or a traditional key. The safe's exterior steel is measured at 5 millimeters in thickness designed to withstand intrusion and prevent theft. It also has three bulky door bolts with a diameter of 30 millimeter boosting its defense against unwanted entry even further. The safe's interior has a luxurious appearance of leather upholstery. It is a thin liner and may not handle much wear and tear but I give it credit because it does look sharp. With its curved door design, it allows the frame to be better secured also gives it a contemporary look. There is mounting capabilities on the back of the unit that allows you to screw into studs. Keep in mind there is a reliance on batteries for power when it comes to the fingerprint and code access. Once the batteries are dead you will be required to use the physical key or back-up battery supply. For some reason the key looks like something from a hundred years ago that opens a treasurer's chest. I'm wondering if this is to conceal the idea it goes to this modern safe. This is not a bad idea, but at the same time it is not convenient to put on your keychain. When we lifted the safe out of the box it did not sit level on the ground by wobbling back and forth. I eventually realized there was a rubber boot still in the styrofoam in the box. It appears these are just stuck on by adhesive and was off upon opening. We attempted to put back on but the adhesive was not strong enough to stick. I will have to find a way to adhere this so that it will sit flat. Overall I found this safe to be a robust and heavy unit. It is not easy to move around and that is one of the largest benefits when it comes to a safe. In my opinion a safe of this magnitude is intended for a main chamber not meant to be easily moved. The door and bolts are bulky and gives you a full sense of security. Multiple entry methods allow flexibility and convenience when accessing inside without having a requirement of keeping track of a key. There was a couple minor items falling short of making it the highest of grade safe, but it has proven to be force to be reckoned with. ... show more

Easy to use and comes with keys and clear instructions for getting started with the fingerprint scanner. Has a nice look to it and is pretty solid! Great little closet safe for quick access.
