Perfect fit to replace the ones in my apartment. Changed them out in less than a minute. No funky taste or smell. Great value compared to disposable plastic water bottles. We've been using this system for years. This water tap is mainly for drinking, cooking, coffee, ice tea, Camelbaks, and to refill the dog water. The filters make water clearer and taste 100% better. Maybe some of the owners are using the filters past the recommended date and/or gallon useage? We replace ours everytime we replace the filter on the fridge. It really depends on how much water your family uses. They last anywhere from 3 to 6 months for us. (Beats the heck out of going to the water&ice store with 5 gallon jugs.) I run the water for 5 minutes or so after replacing the filters to remove air and charcoal. I take samples in a clear glass until the water is crystal clear. I then test the water and I get perfect results on pH, chlorine, acidity, etc. The original tap was made out of plastic and didn't seal well on our sink. Get rid of it a.s.a.p. and upgrade to stainless steel to get a better tap and mounting system. Make sure you are putting the filters back in the correct order when replacing them. You get what you put into this system. It is not for everyone, but we have been getting a great return on our investment of time, money, and muscle. We live in a warm, dry, climate and thus probably use our filtered water more than others. ... show more

I like the idea of clean drinking water but they don’t last as long as advertised. They should be priced lower for as long as they last. I installed the filters in the beginning of May on the 3rd and by June 6th, some 34 days later they need to be replaced. Lasted nowhere near the 6 months as stated. Honestly, I would have been satisfied with 3 months. Now it’s back to bottled water. Update to last review. I’ve found less expensive replacements and even returned them before the 30 day window closed for return. I would have them replaced and start the process over again. Lately I came across recent prices that proliferate upward to a $130 dollars plus! I am shocked and dismayed by this kind of criminal pricing. This is no more than blatant price gouging by a once trusted company name as Whirlpool. ... show more
