After seeing a friends long casting cat fishing pole I ordered this. The toy attachments are great however the reel is janky and the length of string on the reel is a joke. Returning and getting another version where you can actually cast and get some playing distance. Add another 7 feet of string and you’d have a killer toy!

To start with, my cat LOVES the teasers/toys that came with this item. She destroyed the worm type teasers quickly, efficiently, and with the gusto of a true cat killing things. The mouse shaped teasers are easy for her to pickup in her mouth and carry around. So, winning with the teasers, but I can purchase them separately from this wand and already have. I take issue with the description that the line is retractable. The way the line is attached to the reel doesn’t allow for it to retract without assistance. Also, this is the shortest line I’ve encountered on a wand teaser. The line is so short reeling it in to cast again is pointless. Also, I don’t recall reading in the description that the reel makes a rather loud clicking sound. Not a fan of the clicking.

I only gave it 3 stars. I was hoping to give the neighborhood feral cat that has adopted me something to play with. However unfortunately it doesn't reel out more than 5ish ft so doesn't work for the cat human comfort zone. Left it out side attached to something for cat to play with. Clasp isn't easy to clip and unclip. Took some finagling to unlatch real lever. It comes with lots of attachment toys which I am hoping to use in the future.

Read the dimensions closely before you buy this. The pole isn't big and it's not like you can cast this across the room! You can just buy better toys on a stick than this.

My cats are nuts about this toy and all of its fun little attachments. The rating section for this review wanted me to rate its "suction power." LOL. There is no suction, but there is a little suckage. My daughter purchased one similar to this from a brick and mortar pet supply chain store and it is quite a lot nicer. Hers can actually cast. This one was extremely hard to even maneuver the lever that lets the reel unwind. And the lever is just bare metal - hers had a plastic coating to prevent it from hurting your fingers. I ended up just leaving the line pulled out and not reeling it because it is such a huge pain to let it back out once it's been reeled in. Even with my gripes, my cats LOVED it. They loved jumping in the air after it and running it as it was trailed on the floor. They loved ALL of the little kitty toys that snap on the end - and it comes with several, which is very nice, and makes it pretty much worth the price. Considering my gripes and how much all of the cats love it, it is impossible to make a negative review or a 100% positive review. Everyone will have to weigh the observations for themselves and make a decision. Would I purchase this again? Hmmmm....maybe.

My cats go absolutely feral over the wiggle worms that come with this - I have never seen them react to a toy like that before! As far as the rod itself, it would be more fun / effective if the line was longer. As it is, it's no longer than any other string-on-a-pole toy we've had. Overall it's fun because it comes with a variety of toys.
