I bought this for use in my Pelican sit-in kayak while fishing in a local river. The river itself is pretty slow moving in general, but has dramatic tidal impact for several miles. This means that if fishing during incoming or outgoing tide, there will be noticeable pull in that direction. In addition, if gas motor powered boats go by, their wakes obviously create sometimes significant wave activity. I've used this anchor twice now and both times it has kept my kayak extremely steady. When coupled with an anchor trolley system from Amazon, it helps keep me facing whichever direction I prefer as well. For the money, this is fantastic. I wouldn't trust the smaller 1.5lb size anchor for use in a river with a kayak at all however. In a lake with some wind? Maybe. The size is no problem to portage around however. I'm confident enough with it, that I plan on taking a 12ft aluminum boat in the same river. Due to the sheer weight of it, we'll see if the anchor holds, but only time will tell. One safety note that isn't explained well in the product detail whatsoever is that the rope is supposed to be secured to the BOTTOM eyelet on the anchor, NOT the top. Once it's connected with a secure knot, secure the rope to the TOP eyelet with a smaller ziptie. This will allow the anchor to be retrieved whether snagged or not. If those instructions don't make sense, just watch a couple YouTube videos about it. If you tie it to the top eyelet only and it snaggs on a deadfall or something, you will likely have no choice but to the cut the rope and lose your anchor otherwise.

First day out and the rope broke in the middle! and that was that! 12ft inflatable boat in the florida keys. 20 minutes of use and the rope broke! $25 went to the bottom of the ocean. How do I get a refund now?

Shows a float and clip and need this to release and retrieve while on the kayak. These were not provided and only option is to return which is a pain. Just wanted those parts sent out. Now have to go buy them
