I am very happy with this grinder. Purchased this to grind meat for raw food diet for a dog. It grinds chicken bones with no effort at all, the meat and bones go through with no strain at all. I can grind and bag 35 lg of chicken [ 2 Costco bags of thighs and 1 pack of 2 whole chickens] in less then 15 minutes, it takes 2 people, one grinding, the other bagging. The skin removal from the thighs and chopping up the 2 chicken took me 45 minutes. for a total of 1 hour. Clean up is relatively easy, rinse out leftover meat with hot water, then wash with soap and rinse - about 5 minutes. This Weston grinder was a nice change compared to a purchase I made of 2 grinders of another make that were DOA and had to return them and lost over 2 months grinding de-boned and de-skinned chicken with just a Kitchen Aide grinder attachment - which is good, however just a toy comparing to this Weston grinder. I do have a suggestion to Weston, at this price point there should be no sharp edges exposed - please round off the ends of the sheet metal, or modify the design so the cover does not extend and expose the sharp edges. The media could not be loaded. I had purchased a big Weston vacuum sealer in the past (which is legendary btw), so when I went looking for a grinder for my homestead, this was the brand a wanted. I accidentally overbought with the 1.5hp #22, when there happened to be one with box damage; and I'm so glad I did! We feed our dog raw, and this takes care of rabbit bones, no problem. In the video, my husband is dropping the whole front legs and vertebrae in. This thing can't be bothered to struggle. This thing is big and heavy, I think 60ish pounds, so lifting it is the only negative. I also make sausages and it doesn't have trouble doing frozen or partially frozen. I've never once regretted spending a little more on this model, it was absolutely worth it! Pro tip: after you're done grinding, run a few ice cubes to finish clearing the meat out of the tube. ... show more

This machine will deliver everything it says and more, I bought it to grind raw diet chicken (bones included) for our dog, this thing could make a body disappear bones and all; like Houdini. Stuffs sausage like your pushing play-dough and grinds boneless ribs to make the best sausage.

I bought this grinder to make raw dog food. It made quick work of bone in Chicken necks, legs and thighs. However, it does weigh 42 pounds. But that is because it is all solid metal and works so well.

After I posted my terrible review, CS got in touch with me. Maybe they would have anyway and the timing was coincidental. Anyway, after a couple emails and documentation, they sent me a brand new unit. Now I can speak to the effectiveness of this machine. I use it to grind my own dog food, about 50 pounds every other week (3 hungry dogs) and it does a phenomenal job. I grind chicken (bones included), beef, organs, fruit and vegetables, and it works great. The dogs get better food than what is commercially available, at least in my price range, and I can control everything about it. I have had this for less than two months, and mid-use it stopped working. I have only used it 4 times. Initially, it was working great, but now it will not start, and worse yet, I can't get in touch with anyone in customer support. Call the number and you will just get a recording saying to fill out a report online. Well, I did that, and so far, no response. Considering this is almost a $1,000 unit, not only should it work, but when it doesn't, someone should answer the phone and help me figure this out. Ugh, I am angry about this. By the way, yes I did make sure all the outlets have power and tried pushing the circuit reset button. That's all the manual suggests. ... show more

This is such a good product! I use this to grind 20lbs (per week) of chicken thighs with the bone for my dogs good. Has no issues at all! Easy to assemble and clean.
