  • It works fine after a month in the shop
Style: 3700 Watts - Gas Only - RV Ready
Update: got it repaired under warranty. Works great now! Rating updated to 5 stars First, I am an aircraft mechanic. I say that to let you know that I am meticulous with setting up and operating equipment of all types. This generator looks nice, set up was smooth (oil and fresh gas). Followed instructions, started on third pull with full choke. As it warmed up I advanced the throttle dial slowly towards run, stopping incrementally to ensure I was not putting undue stress on the motor. After 15 minutes I began to advance the throttle to run, it shut down. Began again, same thing happened. Checked it over for leaks. Etc. Nothing. I have a service request in with the company, I'll see how that goes and will adjust my rating if it goes well. ... show more

  • This was awful
Style: 3700 Watts - Gas Only - RV Ready
I ordered this generator to use with our camper and after reading reviews was very hopeful. It arrived in a box that looked like it had fallen down three flights of stairs. I opened up and immediately noticed the front case had a large crack and was pushed in. Still I was hopeful that it would be ok. Took it outside put the oil and gas in and it starts on the first pull. Went to switch it into run from choke and the knob won’t turn. This sucker is stuck in choke so it’s running loud and rough and smoking quite a bit. Not what you want while camping. So I get a hold of Amazon and they tell me it’s unreturnable, yea that right you can’t return these things. So I’m like what do I do finally talk to someone else and they say that they will just ship me another one and to discard the first one. So the second one arrives and the box looks like it fell off the truck and was hit by another truck. Ugh here we go again. But I’m ever so hopeful again. Pull it out of the box and it’s fine. So I take it out gas and oil and first pull it starts but I notice that this time the knob won’t go into choke at all, just have run and off. So I turn it off and try to start again and it’s a no go this thing won’t start for anything. Three of us tried over and over to start it and nothing. Once again contact Amazon and this time they are no so nice. Had to talk to many people to finally get a supervisor to approve a refund. Once again they tell me to discard it. So now I’m stuck with two huge paperweights until I figure out how to recycle these things. Just save up your money and buy a nice Honda or something, just saying. ... show more

  • A NON-Paid Review, An Outstanding Investment
Style: 3700 Watts - Gas Only - RV Ready
Hello, This review is an honest review that was not part of any paid promotion. I rarely leave reviews on items but the quality of this item warranted me to share my experience with potential fellow customers. My wife and I have a 30ft camper and this 3700 watt inverter/generator hits the mark in ever way for us. This inverter hooks directly to our 30AMP service plug with the provided adaptor and has no problem keeping up with anything that my camper throws at it. The build quality for the price blew me away; I was thoroughly surprised with the build of the plastic clamshell and material used to mold this inverter. It is super light with a wheel/dolley addition and is super super quiet. Fellow campers: this inverter is the inverter that your neighbors at the camp site will appreciate you for. Campers: please stop lugging in massive generators that can be heard all throughout the camp ground, it’s ignorant and inconsiderate. Buy this generator/inverter and don’t be a inconsiderate POS. This item has surpassed my expectations and in my opinion seems to be a great competitor to the Honda generator/inverters especially since it is a fraction of the price. Time will tell how it holds up, but then again I can buy three of these for the price of one of the Honda counterpart so it really only needs to last a third of the lifetime of a Honda to be competitive in my opinion. Pros: -Super quiet operation -3700 Watts- for the size and price it will provide full service to almost everything in a 30AMP camper. -price -size, lightweight -controls/build quality -eco mode Cons: -LED Light on the front doesn’t turn off when running. -Fuel Capacity We are happy campers with this purchase and would recommend this inverter/generator to anyone! ... show more

  • Poor quality. Terribly difficult to start. Runs poorly. Poor quality. Terribly difficult to start. Runs poorly.
Style: 3700 Watts - Gas Only - RV Ready
I like the fact of its small size to fit under my truck cover -- but it ends there. My first one arrived and started on the first pull, but the choke appeared stuck. The engine was running ruff and producing heavy black smoke. I shut it off and could not get it to restart. Upon close inspection of the carburetor, I saw the choke butterfly assembly was broken. I called Amazon and they replaced it with another one. It arrived late last night. I opened it this morning and discovered a small amount of gasoline was already in the tank. Moreover, screws on one side panel showed signs of having been twisted on, as the panel had obviously been removed after original assembly. I added gasoline and oil. The engine started on the third pull, but again, this one also ran rough and produced a lot of black smoke. I shut it down and had great difficulty restarting it. The only way to start the engine now is to remove the side panel and manually reset the carburetor linkage. This being the second one I received, I am now at a loss of what to do. I paid for a generator that doesn't work well. I am embarrassed to call Amazon again, but it might be necessary. Poor quality and craftsmanship should cause Westinghouse to be ashamed, and not me. UPDATE: I CALLED AMAZON AND THEY ISSUED A FULL REFUND IMMEDIATELY. THANKS AMAZON. ... show more

  • Good product, but needed ground
Style: 3700 Watts - Gas Only - RV Ready
The generator is quiet and easy to use. It's not too heavy... it can be lifted to put in a truck bed and lifted out without ramps, dollies, etc. It has wheels on one end and an extended handle on the other to wheel around. Based on the other Westinghouse generator I own, I'm assuming it will be reliable. The issue is that it has a floating ground which, after some research, I learned is not fully grounded and won't pop the fuses if there is a surge from an appliance. When I connected my circuit analyzer/surge protector for my RV, it it indicated no ground. There was nothing in the description or in the user manual how to properly ground for an RV. After a lot more research, I found the Southwire Company LLC Neutral-Ground Bonding Plug (sold by: Amazon.com). This small ~$20 product provides grounding which now reads as a proper circuit for the RV. Based on the poor explanation of grounding from Westinghouse and propsed option or solutions for RV use, I'm rating this as 4-star. There should be further details for proper grounding with an RV. ... show more

  • Super easy to use. Pull out handle an awesome feature.
Style: 3700 Watts - Gas Only - RV Ready
I am so happy I got this larger unit. I’m a single female and live in Florida where I have to have one. The extension handle and wheels make this a dream to wheel out and in to store. It was easy to start. The instructions are clear for break in and storage of the unit. This one has a switch you can turn on once started that will allow it to run more quietly using less fuel under smaller loads but will run harder under increased loads. There is more than enough wattage available to run a fan my aquarium the refrigerator make some coffee and i ironed some clothes. Anything that heats will draw more current so I didn’t overload it during break in which is five hours run time under varying loads but not exceeding 1500 watts. It used less than a gallon of fuel in the break in period. It has two usb ports for phone charging making it a superb hurricane survival machine! I’m very happy with the purchase! I’ve previously used a smaller Honda inverter. This one will be more than adequate to run everything I need to get by when needed. Peace of mind! An inverter is much better than a generator as the power out is steady and clean vs glitches that come from the motor. This is a single cylinder single spark plug unit. Comes with the proper oil as it is not shipped with oil in the engine. Fairly compact for its power. All lights, outlets and breakers on single front panel. It does have a molded handle for lifting. Great design. Solid engineering. I’m an electronics engineering technician by trade and appreciate the construction, design of the unit. ... show more

  • Not worth your money or time
Style: 3700 Watts - Gas Only - RV Ready
I purchased this generator. It ran 5 hours. Not even 1 tank of fuel. It shut down and wouldnt start. I waited until tomorrow for total cool down. When I got it started it ran rough and backfired. I contacted westinghouse who identified the problem with a part and asked me to return it to them. I did. They sent me a new 1 but it was not new. It was a different 1 with different serial number, dirty oil, and a huge scratch across the side. It ran 4 hours a day for 2 days and would not start. I contacted westinghouse again who informed me they dont refund money. And amazon is only 30 day refund. I chose westinghouse for their durability and integrity. I recieved neither. Its like buying a brand new car, 2025 and 50 miles down the road it wont start. You tow it to the dealership who calls you to pick up your car and in its place is a 2024 car. And you are told this car is the 1 they are replacing your car with. I purchased a generator at walmart. No problems. So I sugest dont buy it from the mail or spend extra dollars for the westinghouse name! Not if walmarts performs better and if there is a problem you can get your money back. ... show more

  • Quality control concerns.
Style: 3700 Watts - Gas Only - RV Ready
After following oil and gas startup instructions meticulously I pulled cord to start generator for first time. Would not start and quite a bit of gas leaking from under unit. Further research on my own confirmed the gas float bowl drain screw was left open so as I pulled the start cord gas filled the bowl and immediately drained out the bottom through the drain tube. This feature is designed so you can drain gas out of the system for long term storage. So whoever at the factory tested this unit drained the bowl for shipment but failed to tighten screw back down and close the drain off. Just plain lousy quality control. I pulled the cover, tightened the screw and closed off the float bowl and the unit fired up and seems to run fine for the short time I tested it. Most customers would not have figured this out easily plus it dumped a bunch of gasoline all over place. So beware. Jury still out on how it performs and I will try to provide an update after using it more. But initial experience is concerning. An American based company with these kinds of quality control issues is concerning beyond this one product. We'll see if anyone from the company reaches out to me after reading this review. ... show more
