To be totally honest I have only done a test run through of this beautiful powerful device. I have been in the same place many people get into who want power during a brown or blackout. The cool and great help devices that allow for you to recharge your phone and power small items in clever ways: well I have several. But unless you have experience with gasoline generators at work or for emergency situations; it’s difficult to make the move to buy a power source for emergencies that will actually allow you and your family to stay in the home and just do the simple math (or if you hate math, just do some consolidation). The issue for my wife was the idea of a generator filled with gas and blowing smoke while being very loud. I was not really aware of this type and style of gas generator that is made to compete with the construction site monster generator. But the gas tank is around one gallon. The size is about the same as a large toolbox. The amount of power is worth learning (watts volts amps and the amount needed for items you need to run). This Westinghouse generator will allow me to focus on my man cave and control center with A/C and the Internet box as well as a couple of power recliners and a lot of technology like computers tablets and phones. Plus by using a long hd power cord I can also keep the refrigerator and lights and washer dryer working. The only difference between this home generator of this parameter vs. a much larger and powerful professional one with gallons of gas and super heavy serious generator is just using the two 110 or 220 plugs and a couple of really long and well made hd extension cords that can be connected to a device while using and then disconnected and used somewhere else. Like the washer and dryer. Different from the refrigerator that needs a constant power flow; the washer dryer just need power while in use. This also came with a backup gas container. So with a gallon in the generator and another gallon in the safe extra container; you have at least 24 hours of full time running. And the safety factor is obvious and built in with this super well made generator for urban (neighborhoods) that is made so much better with quiet operation and smaller size that doesn’t need a set of wheels. Plus the excellent amount of total watts and the ability to then provide the needed voltage that critical items in a normal home needs in order to know that you can stay home and deal with power outages in most cases. If you want to add a second generator and link it together easily to the other... then you are in awesome shape. I am actually waiting for the first blackout of the summer in order to confirm my test run. Finally the name Westinghouse has a lot of strength in this arena. Plus the easily noticeable difference in overall visual and practical ability.

I had a terrible flood in my basement last March when we had heavy rain for several days, and then one night at 4 AM, the power went down in my neighborhood. My new sump pump didn't work because it is electrical, thus, the basement flooded. I had to call a mitigation crew, file a homeowner's claim and pay a high deductible. One of the contractors told me I should get a small generator that would power the sump pump in case of a power outage. This Westinghouse Inverter Generator was the perfect solution. It was not expensive and can power the sump pump for many hours/days. I can easily pull the cord to start it. and it's amazingly quiet and portable. I am able to move it around quite well. I have it ready to hook up to the sump pump. Now I can sleep better knowing I can easily solve this possible flooding problem in my home. So glad I made this purchase! I trust the Westinghouse brand.

This is the third generator I have purchased. A very large inverter for the main house. An older Westinghouse standard generator that was reused to power our well, that is on a different meter. We were without power for 6 days with Helena. Both large generators function perfectly. But there was a flaw in my plan. To conserve fuel and the generator life span, we only ran the house generator for about 8 hours a day. On for a couple in the morning and lunch time. Then 3 to 4 hours for dinner to bed time. We have a new energy star Samsung fridge. The freezer is factory set to 0, and the fridge to 37 degrees. Between power off around 11 and power up around 6 or 7 am. The temp on the freezer climed to about 55 and the fridge the same. So it has to be powered at all times to maintain temp. This cost us well over $700 in food. Don't need a food issue on top of Helena. Purchased this generator to fill the gap. It will power the fridge and maybe a couple of small items as well when the large generator is off line. Setup was easy. Love the oil fill spout that screws into the oil fill port. Great displays. Even tracks service times for oil and others. Gives load, and exact fuel amount in liters. To break it in ran the fridge for 6 hours on the generator. Easy to start, and low load for the fridge. Fuel use was 2.1 liters for the 6 hours. And of course having options if one generator were to fail is just a bonus. UPDATE: So I have about 20 hours on the generator at this point. It was getting progressively harder to start. As the other day it took 30 pulls to get it to fire. Also seemed to be running rough. Great another generartor issue. Started with the simple, checked oil and replace the factory plug. Installed new NGK plug. Read online some people were having issue with factory plug, cheap. This was the issue, started on the first pull. The following day it started on 2nd pull. Also read that you could run the carberator dry by turning it almost off. Just a hair before it shuts down. This worked also and is a good practice. Hope this helps someone else.

I have a dog treat business that I run out of a cute little trailer. The trailer itself does have a good size generator that I run off propane. It is encased on the front near the tongue. It It very noisy! So much so that it disrupts my ability to speak to customers. My trailer only needs enough power to run some lights and phone chargers, so no much power is needed. When Amazon had their prime day, I found this on sale. The reviews were positive on the ease and quietness, so I ordered it. While it's "only" 50 lbs or so, it's a bit heavy for this aging girl, but still manageable. Setup was very straightforward. After filling with the oil (provided) and fuel, it started on the 2nd pull (guessing it just needed to cycle first). Super quiet, with a rubbery bottom so it doesn't slide around in my trailer. I could place it right behing the trailer and barely notice it (the walls of the trailer are just aluminum with no insulation), or 15 feet behind and not hear anything. It ran without a hiccup. I ran it in economy mode since my wattage draw is minimal. This little unit is proving to be much better for my needs. I highly recommend it. UPDATE. I ran this last weekend, around 9.30 am, with the temps being in the low 20s. Sadly, it kept dieing on me. I was using it to light my parade float and blow up decorations. So very disappointed in it. I'm not sure if it was due to the low temps, or if it's a lemon. But it really ruined my float.

I bought this generator as an insurance policy against power outages, since I live in a hurricane-prone area. I really wanted a Honda, but didn't want to spend the money for one. I bought this Westinghouse during Prime Days and I feel like I got a pretty good deal. I have not used this in an emergency yet, but my initial impression is very positive. It started up on the first pull and is VERY quiet, at least as quiet as the Honda. In Eco mode, it gets even quieter. To be fair, I have not run it under load yet, so it probably gets noisier once you start plugging things in. The manual is very complete and well-written. You can tell it was written in native English, not translated from another language. The only negatives I've found are: 1. To add or check the oil, you need a screwdriver to remove two screws and take off the side panel. This is a little frustrating - they could have used thumbscrews to make it easier. They did include a screwdriver to use. 2. The oil fill is awkwardly located at the bottom of the unit, so I had to tip the unit to fill it properly. Once you tip it, of course, you can't measure the oil level accurately, so it's a tedious process. 3. It's a little heavier than I expected and awkward to lug around with the handle, but no worse than a heavy piece of luggage. Other than these minor quibbles, I am very happy with this generator! Kudos to Westinghouse for making an affordable, no-frills alternative to the Honda. I will update this review as needed once I use this generator in a real emergency!

UPDATE (07/15/2023) First one worked so well I bought another and the kit to connect them together to run the RV! For years I have considered buying a compact generator for camping and other outdoor events where I need to have power but have no access to electricity. For instance when tailgating or at a picnic. I just never felt it was a need but was more of a want. A prolonged power outage at a campground that prevented me from working remotely was all I needed to finally convince me to do it. After doing a little research I settled on the Westinghouse 2200. As soon as the generator arrived I unboxed it, read the included instruction manual and setup the generator as directed. Westinghouse included the tools, funnel, and oil needed to open the side access panel and fill the generator with oil. Once filled with oil, I added the gasoline and took it outside to start it up. The generator started on the very first pull. I ran the generator for 5 hours total varying the load using my electric impact drill (which draws a peak of 900A) to generate the recommended maximum amperage load (which is no more than 50% of the max). I didn't run the drill non-stop but ran it for 2-3 minutes every 15-20 minutes. The generator increased its output each time the load surged and had no problem at all. The generator is also very quiet. I have a 8000 watt generator for my home and it is so loud you can't carry on a conversation next to it without shouting. The Westinghouse generator was quiet enough that my wife and I carried on a conversation when she was standing 20 feet away and I was right next to the generator. I think my impact drill was actually louder than the generator. As far as portability is concerned, the generator weighs around 50lbs with fuel. It was easy for me to pick up and carry around using the handle. Lifting it to the tailgate of a larger truck would require two hands for most people but would still be easy. I am taking the generator on a camping trip next week and will update my review then with more real world experience. UPDATE: Love this generator. I get real world 10 hours of power for every tank of gas. During recent storms power was out for days. Used for 11 days running refrigerator, lights, fan, TV, and other household small appliances (microwave, coffee maker, airfryer/toaster oven) as needed by unplugging items to maintain proper draw. Ran with zero issues. Starts on first two pulls most times. Great for camping too.

I was originally looking at the Predator generators to power my new camper. My camper needs at least 1.8kW continuous to run the AC and the fridge at the same and the 2kW Predator only provides 1.6kW continuous and the jump up to 3.5kW unit was huge in both price and size. There is an apparent hole in their product line for the 2.5kW class of generator. So I saw Honda makes a 2.2kW unit, but the Honda units are very expensive. So, I found this 2.5kW Westinghouse that had good reviews and ordered one. So far I've only run it for the 5 hour break-in with varying a light load, but it's pretty quiet once you aren't standing right on top of it and I can barely hear it inside my garage with it running right outside the door. I like the Eco mode to drop the RPMs to idle when there's no electrical draw and I really like the LCD display with fuel and power output gauges. Having a digital display that shows fuel remaining in liters, runtime until empty (at current power output), power output, voltage output, and lifetime running hours is just really convenient. It's pretty compact too and easy to move around. It has some nice things I wasn't expecting like the fuel cap has a metal chain retaining it to the unit, the filter inside the filler neck has a big red FULL marker to avoid overfilling, it came with a toolkit including a screw-in funnel for the oil port, and the spark plug has an easy access cover over it. It is a carbureted unit like every other generator, so sometimes there's a smell of fuel after moving it around or if it gets tipped on its side. Also the carb doesn't have any kind of adjuster screw for tuning the fuel, so if you plan to use this in high altitude you need to order the high altitude kit from Westinghouse. The kit comes with 3 different sets of jets and seals for varying altitudes from 2k'-7k'. The procedure to swap the jets out looks a bit more involved than I had hoped for and looks like it will be a pain to do often. I plan on driving my camper from sea level up to 9k' and everywhere in between so I'll need to swap the jets fairly often depending on where I end up on that day in the mountains. So my only real complaint is that I wish the altitude adjustment was easier.
