The Westinghouse iGen2800 Portable Inverter Generator produces up to 2,500 peak watts and 2,200 running watts, making it perfect for emergency home backup during a power outage or for recreational uses such as camping and tailgating. Powered by a 4-Stroke OHV Westinghouse Engine, the iGen2800 is engineered to automatically adjust its engine speed to produce only the amount of power you need for enhanced fuel efficiency. The iGen2800 can simultaneously power most large appliances such as refrigerators and furnaces while powering any necessities you may need while traveling. It’s lightweight and portable, weighing 46.3 lb. with a built-in carrying handle. The iGen2800 has an ultra-low tone for community-friendly use, operating as low as 52 dBA which is quieter than the average conversation. Unlike traditional generators, the iGen2800 safely powers sensitive electronics like plasma/LCD televisions, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices by producing clean, stable power at less than 3% THD. Bought this generator to pair with a travel trailer for boondocking adventures and it fits the bill perfectly. Easy to set up for the first start and now starts on first pull every time. I love that it has a 30 amp outlet for the trailer. Also really impressed with how clean it runs. No gas or oil smells after shut off and allowed to cool, which allows me to lock it inside our vehicle without any issues of toxic odors. Efficiency mode works awesome. And the low weight really saves my back, while still giving us the electric output needed to run an RV AC or appliances. ... show more

Very easy to set up and run. On the ECO mode the unit is very quiet. It is fairly easy to carry. The instructions were very good. We will be using this mainly for camping. I would recommend this to anyone.

Nice small generator for basic use such as lights, music, tv, computer, cpap, that will keep running all night. Very light weight and easy to start and use. Quiet especially with distance. I use it for my cpap while camping out and will run all night long while I sleep.

This is for the igen 2550c. So far, I’ve completed the break-in. It’s been great. It doesn’t really give a break-in procedure in the manual, but if you search online there are many great tutorials on it. Break-in isn’t needed but it will definitely increase the life of your generator and it will smoke less if you seat the rings properly. The plastic carry handle flexes a little, and the access door for the oil seems a little thin. It’s hard to get it to clip back togther because of how it flexes. The LED display is great; it’s a feature most generators at this price point don't have. I love the phone tray on top. The unit is extremely quiet. Way more quiet than the competition, and I’d venture to say it’s as quiet as a Honda, but I don’t have a decible meter to check. The internals seem well made. The only thing I’ll add is, after break-in, switch to synthetic oil. Use Lucas oil stabilizer and get a magnetic oil dipstick. ... show more

The weight of this inverter for it's size amazes me. It's so light and can handle a 30amp RV plug. Dual fuel is a huge bonus. I broke it in using propane. Starting it with propane took a little figuring out. I think I finally read/realized to blip the bleeder a couple time on the propane regulator. I changed to oil a couple times during break-in. Pouring the oil out was very easy and not messy like some others. I just had metallic specs in the oil which is normal for break-in. I probably didn't need to change the oil until the recommended 25hrs. But better to be careful. It was way quieter than my very old generator. I ran it on an open garage, with plenty of airflow, and I was still able to carry a normal conversation. Overall, I'm very happy with this inverter/generator. ... show more

    • Powerful portable generator for home or RV

This is my second Westinghouse portable generator. I gave my first one to my daughter and upgraded to a more powerful unit with 3,000 W output (3,700 W peak). I just prepped the unit with break-in oil procedure, with 3 oil changes and progressively adding loads to the unit for the proper break-in. Unit is very quiet and easy to maneuver on wheels with a collapsible handle for pulling it. This unit will work very well as a backup generator for the occasional power outage we experience in the Northeast, especially in the winters. Able to run refrigerator, sump pump, internet modem-router, desktop computer and 3 LED lights. Then able to add on top of those items, one at a time a coffee maker, a hot pot and microwave. Haven't tried it yet with our motor home, but plan on using it to plug in to the RV to power AC, microwave and coffee maker when not on shore power, which will be nice for "dry-camping". You really can't beat the price of this unit, which makes it much more affordable than the Honda units, which are about twice as expensive. I read many reviews online as well as watched multiple youtube videos about this unit before pulling the trigger. I am very happy with this purchase and recommend it to those looking for backup power for homes during a power outage or for backup power for an RV. ... show more
