My Sports organization ordered on 8/26; it ran for about 2 hours then quit. Wont start. Have to send it to repair shop already after owning less than a week and using for a couple hours. To be fair, we have two other Westinghouse generators that run flawless.

They work well I had a little trouble getting the cover off of the first one. I bought two and run them parallel I need to load and unload them and these are easy to handle. Vs the big 5000 watt unit, and together these produce more power.

    • Automatic shutdowns with good oil level and no loads - DON'T BUY!

Bought this on 1 Jun 26 and successfully performed its 5 hour engine break-in with no problems. Changed oil per the manual, ensuring the level was correct. Started having automatic engine shutdown occurrences, sometimes 3-4 times in 10 minutes, with no load on the generator. Most of the time, the OIL LED would illuminate then shut down. Checked oil level and it's exactly where the manual said it should be. On a few occasions, the OVERLOAD LED would illuminate just before an automatic shutdown. Past the VERY SHORT Home Depot 7-day return window, so now stuck working with Westinghouse to find a fix. Look for a retailer to buy from that offers a more customer friendly return window, like a typical Home Depot one of 30 days!! I was going to buy the Honda eu2200i at $1200 instead of the Westinghouse iGen2800DFc at $549. But I wanted dual fuel capability, save 54% in costs, didn't like Honda using Bluetooth and requiring users to rely on their phone app as that's just another method for Honda to data mine users, build profiles, then sell the info to marketing types. Now I would have spent double and bought the Honda for reliability and just not use their app. Stay away from this (and maybe other models) Westinghouse generator. Reliability is #1 and Westinghouse definitely is NOT. ... show more
