Description

The Westinghouse Saf-T-Brace allows you to safely install your ceiling fan or lighting fixture without having to access attic space. Ideal for installation during new construction or remodeling, the mounting brace can also be installed in finished ceilings through a hole large enough to fit the box. The Saf-T-Brace features a heavy-duty, all-metal, 1-1/2-inch-deep electrical box with 15.5-cubic-inch wiring capacity. This sturdy mounting brace provides a secure hold to ceiling joists, creating a strong foundation for your ceiling fan or lighting fixture. The included Saf-T-Cap will protect bolts and wires during drywall installation and painting. The fan brace is UL listed to support light fixtures up to 150 pounds on 16-inch centers and 50 pounds on 24-inch centers. Acceptable for fan support up to 70 pounds. Dual mounting capability, includes 10-24 threads for heavier fans and fixtures, as well as 8-32 threads for cover plates and lightweight lighting fixtures. Westinghouse is a trusted, global brand. I did have to do some modification to it so it would fit between my weird 10" ceiling joists but that was kinda easy since I had a cut off wheel. Installing this was just as hard as installing the fan though. The hole was right next to a joist though so I had to use two hands to expand it, one hand to hold it in the right spot and one hand to twist because the triangle end piece had nowhere to sit on. The other mounts I've seen likely wouldn't have this problem. ... show more
