It's installed in an old garage that has the light switch on the opposite side of that way the door opens, so I was always having to go through the door, close the door and turn the light on. The media could not be loaded. I plugged this motion-activated control into my garage ceiling and into the device's outlet a hanging light rope to act as a guide because I suck at backing my car into the garage. Every time the garage door opens, it triggers the motion sensor and the guide light comes on! If the device were plugged into a wall, the range of detection would be what seems to be within a horizontal plane, which makes sense as you'd normally plug it in somewhere that intersects people's pathways. With it plugged into my ceiling, detection is a vertical plane which works out to be from the garage door in front of my car to right behind where I park my car. The packaging states that the detection range is 25 feet. Due to the garage door motor obstructing my sensor's view, the range is artificially restricted to 15 feet, but if I walk anywhere within the sensor's view plane or open the garage door, it triggers the motion detection, which is perfect for my purposes. There's a loud click when power to the device's outlet is activated. The sensor's power-on timer can be set to 4 seconds, 1, 2, 5, 10, or 20 minutes. I set mine to 20 minutes and it stays on for the expected time. (In the video the light blinks because that's what the light does by design when first powered on.) By the way, to clear up some people's confusion, this device does not contain any built-in lighting. The clear panel is the motion sensor. This works 100% as advertised. Three things irritate me about this product: 1. It does not know the difference between a bright room and a dark room so it turns the light on every time you or the cat walks by even when the room is brightly filled with sunshine. And it makes a clicking sound each time 2. The motion detection range is very narrow so the light only stays on for about 1 second then clicks off again. If it stayed on for 10-15 seconds it would be much better. 3. That I did not read and comprehend the product description well enough to realize that the above would irritate me. ... show more
