  • Fantastic Light!
This is a great flash unit. Great quality feel and finish. Performas with a much more powerful flash than the rating. I have actually used in full sun on backlit subjects and lit their face with no issue. Great carry case, and battery life seems outstanding.

  • A great value light, but not for Canon RT
I returned after shooting three events with these. We use a Canon RT wireless network (430RT's, 600RT's, and EL-1's) and have tried every third-party product that claims RT compatibility. These couldn't hang with the Canon lights in crowded radio environments (pretty much, any wedding these days). The radio would drop at the worst times and getting it back online was frustrating and stressful (with impatient clients looking on). Around the house and in rural spaces the feature and useability of these 200's are great. HSS is easy to use, power and battery are great. A pity about the Canon RT robust issue. ... show more

  • Extremely disappointed today...
Honest follow-up review. After playing with the charger (putting the battery back on to charge, taking it off) eventually it powered up. I thought it may have been a one off situation so I decided to keep it for about a week. Once the battery became low and I had to charge again, however, the same issue occurred in that the unit would not power on. Due to this and further research, I returned and went with the Godox AD200 instead. I still respect the Wescott brand (love the X-Drop system, umbrellas, etc.) but I cannot risk being on location and having power issues with my flash. I just received 2 Godox AD200s today, charged up fully, and powered up both without a problem. I consider myself a novice in photography and wanted to develop my skills more and have spent countless hours studying and watching videos about the art. Wescott has been helpful to me in gaining knowledge about lighting so I decided to go with their ecosystem as opposed to others such as Godox or Prophoto. My first purchase was this FJ200. I was extremely excited!!! The package arrived a couple of hours ago and I literally was like a kid on Christmas! I started off by scanning the QR code and following the instruction guide. Charged the battery up fully, popped it in correctly to hear the “click,” and hit the power/test button. Anticipation led to nothing. The unit is DOA. I triple checked my work an it will not power on at all. To say I’m extremely disappointed is an understatement. Furthermore, now I’m questioning the brand in respect to strobes, wondering if I should have went a different route. Photography gear is truly an investment and for issues like this to occur it is really disappointing. Sending it back today along with the separate trigger I purchased. $500 investment, $0 return. ... show more

  • Good light
I moved to westcott because of universal adaptability. I use most major brands and having flash systems per company gets expensive. This allowed me to switch cameras while keeping the same lighting setup. My test of it was setting up the lights and switching the trigger to each camera and use TTL. It worked for each camera. Westcott gives me the ability to have TTL and high-speed sync with any camera that I have that supports it. ... show more

  • Easy to use, compact, and still powerful
I recently purchased the 3 light fj200 kit and it is an impressive product, to say the least. The fj200s provide a consistent flash output both in terms of color and power. If you are wondering if this small 200ws flash can become your new daily drive.... The TLDR is YES it can. It's a flash and it flashes exactly as it's intended to. But so do a lot of other products, so what sets the FJ200 apart from its competitors? The user interface is so easy to navigate! I was a little concerned at first with the lack of buttons on the back of the unit, but I quickly learned this was one of the strongest features of the unit. The LED screen on the back should become the new industry standard for flash control. Gone are the days of having to remember what every button does and what menus are buried under what buttons. It is also feature-packed with things like high-speed sync, front, and rear curtain flash, and all the options and features you would expect from a modern flash. It's a good idea to pick up their universal controller that also works with ALL camera types and it's just as easy to use as the lights. It's also really cool that one controller can work with every type of camera out there. If you use gels, you should seriously consider picking up their grid/gel kit. There is a magnetic flap in the front of the grid/gel holder that makes using gels hassle-free. I cannot believe that this is the first time I have seen this system for holding gels, like the LED menu screen this should now be the industry standard for gels. Just fold down the gel holder, put the gel in place, and fold it back up letting the magnetic flaps hold the gel in place. Done in seconds. No more attaching multiple binder clips or clothespins to the edge of the lights and dealing with light leaks. The magnetic flap holds the gel in place and covers 100% of the output. If you shoot weddings, on-location work, travel, outdoor portraits, Then I highly recommend the FJ200s. I think the only area where the fj200 would struggle would be lighting up a huge scene, such as putting them in the ceiling of gyms to light up an entire arena... but that is to be expected with a 200ws flash unit that is about the size of a coffee thermos. ... show more

  • A Great Combination of Power and Portablility
The FJ200 is a great combination of power and portability. It is light weight (about the size of a 70-200 f/4...you can handhold it in one hand while holding your camera in your other hand), has a fast recycle time and the battery lasts a long time. Colors are also consistent. It is part of a great system along with the FJ400 and the FJ80 and integrates seamlessly with Canon Speedlites. As a Canon shooter that is a major plus. One of the best features is that the trigger (The FJ-X2M) is universal...it works with Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sony (with an adaptor), Panasonic and Olympus and allows for TTL and High Speed Sync. Since I teach, this makes it easy to pass the trigger to all of my students, just changing the brand on the trigger. Highly recommended! ... show more
