The media could not be loaded. I had never used a popcorn machine personally but I have seen them used so I had a general idea of how they work. The directions to put it together were lacking. That is a fairly minor negative imo. Other than putting it together, it is very easy to start using. We use 2 large scoops of kernels, 2 tbsp of oil, and 1 tsp of seasoning salt. Popcorn comes out great as long as I spread out the oil and seasoning, if not only the kernels that it was poured on will be seasoned and it will be way too much. Pops fairly quickly, only like 3-4 mins at most to make a large amount. We used this 2 times before using it to make popcorn for a neighborhood movie night. Worked so well! This popcorn machine is a great purchase. It takes less than 3 minutes to assemble. The machine is sturdy and well made. It is the perfect size to sit on the countertop without taking up too much space. It pops perfect popcorn every time, proving enough popcorn for a family of 4 to enjoy. This makes good popcorn. My family of five needed to make 3 batches to satisfy our popcorn itch, but it was delicious. Easy enough to clean. Not tall enough for the heated kernel popper to fall freely to dispense all kernels, some scraping in crannies to remove popped kernels was required, but that wasn’t a challenge. ... show more

I love popcorn. I prefer movie theater popcorn so i make my own. This is the third popcorn popper that i have tried. The first one broke after a few months. The second one was trash because it was a bad design and no matter how hard I tried, the heating coils would get the popcorn oil on it. I have to say the other two were not West Bend models. They were, however, pretty big name brands. I have always wanted the popper that looks like the ones at the movie theaters but not so bulky. I am so glad I found this one. The price was right and the size is perfect. I do purchase the butter popping oil and the popcorn salt to make sure tis exactly like the popcorn you can get at the theaters. A few weeks ago I had some guest in from out of town and I fired up my West Bend popcorn maker and they were all excited and impressed. Needless to say they were all on Amazon ordering their own West Bend popcorn maker. It is easy to use and my favorite part is- easier to clean. It makes the perfect amount of popcorn so everyone can have some and none goes to waste, I highly recommend splurging on the good popcorn butter oil and good popcorn salt and a good brand of popcorn kernels. The media could not be loaded. This popcorn maker is so fun to use. While the popcorn is making a popcorn light lights up it came mostly assembled. Just had to put the small parts together. It looks nice so we leave it out on the counter. The noise level is not unbearable. It is made of good quality materials and the kernel pop is great. I think we had two colonels in the machine after all of the popcorn was popped and it has a kernel catcher in the bottom of the machine ... show more

This was a replacement for a more expensive brand in which the on/off switch broke. This popcorn maker is just as good for the price (quite honestly, it is almost identical to the more expense brand I had) and makes good popcorn! All kernels get popped. No issues thus far.

We only used this popcorn machine three times and the bottom flap below the door broke off and it won't stay on, so the popcorn falls out onto the floor. We are no longer able to use the machine. We contacted the manufacturer, West Bend, and they said that they are no longer making this model, and they do not have a replacement part that they can send to us. We feel that we have been ripped off by West Bend! I still see this machine for sale on Amazon, so I don't understand why West Bend won't help us!! I always thought that West Bend was a reputable company, but apparently, they are not!!! I will not recommend this popcorn popper to anyone!! I would not even give a one star, but it won't let me bypass!! ... show more
