This looks and works just like a movie theater machine. It’s worth it if you like popcorn. Easy to make and cooks it up super quick. Sort of a pain to clean. But worth it when you realize you can have movie theater popcorn at home! I bought the larger sized package of popcorn supplies because I didn’t know any better, but use it all just in two batches. I put all of the leftover popcorn in a ziplock bag and can enjoy it for days after. Reminds me of how you can buy real popcorn in a bag at the grocery store. It doesn’t go bad, just stale if not sealed back up. Tastes so good regardless. Makes the house smell great too! I love that the popcorn from this popcorn popper tastes more like movie popcorn. The kernels seem to be more plump, much bigger and the popcorn butters seem to absorb more in the popcorn in this style. I found an older Pyrex square container that fits perfect in the bottom to catch the popcorn so it makes clean up less and easier to scoop popcorn out into a smaller bowl. It does take a little longer to clean it up as it is a bigger machine. The popcorn smells so good in the kitchen while it pops. I find myself popping more popcorn and leaving a bowl out on my counter as a healthy option of a snack. This is a much better improvement over the round bowl as far as taste and how fast it pops. The instruction booklet provided some great ideas of making different kinds of popcorn. My con in this is that the instruction booklet needs to do better with instructions on how to assemble the inside as I struggle figuring out how to attach the kernel bowl. The instruction booklet was not clear for me to understand. A video showing how to assemble would be even better. The price was competitive to other popcorn machines. ... show more

For the price, this machine works surprisingly well. The directions are horrendous. The auger is reverse threaded so keep that in mind during assembly. Not a lot of moving parts so less to screw up. You have to be ready to power off when the popping stops or it will burn quickly. It’s small but makes enough for a half dozen candy-striped paper popcorn bags. ... show more

This west bend popcorn machine is great for movie night! Easy to assemble no instructions needed. It is best to use butter flavor coconut oil which I make myself coconut oil and imitation butter flavor. The smoke point is high on the coconut oil and it makes the popcorn super fluffy. Use a good kernel like Amish and a good popcorn salt my go to is flavacol. It comes out perfect everytime. You just put the oil and salt turn it on let it heat up then add the kernels and watch it pop away. It even has a lighted popcorn sign that gives it added movie theatre type flair. The machine and kettle are easy cleanup I would reccomend this machine to anyone looking to have that theatre experience at home on a budget. ... show more

It’s really nice!!! It’s a great product if ur a pop corn lover like me but HAAAATE spending the price for that movie theater popcorn, it really does taste just like movie theater popcorn corn, THE CON!!! The con is that hot bowl thing inside is a B**ch to get the popcorn out after it’s done popping so u can put it back but honestly th good outweighs the the bad and I’m VERY happy with my purchase, it’s also space saving mine is sitting on my small portable dishwasher cause I live in a smaller apartment and the sound isn’t as bad as u would think!!! My sensory sound sensitive autistic daughter stood there without her noise canceling headphones, now my daughter can handle some noises so if ur kid can’t handle music on a normal level I wouldn’t take this comment and try is around ur kiddo!!! But yes overall I’m happy one full batch in this popcorn machine can feed 18 people a serving and u can go and make another batch immediately if needed!!! Cleaning it is also easier than I thought it would be!!! It is cheaply made tho and if ur not careful the door can pop open so STAND THERE while it pops as u HAVE to turn it off after the pop corn stops popping like a microwave!!!     • Looks good but fails in a lot of areas.
I used the item 2x's before the bucket separated from the hinge. Additionally, when in use, there isn't enough room to drop the bucket down to remove the contents if there is already popcorn in the tray. Lastly, the place were un-popped kernels go, is poorly designed. The plastic cover easily slides or shifts out of the way and it isn't very deep to capture the kernels and then disposal or removal of those un-popped kernels is very difficult. I had never used a popcorn machine personally but I have seen them used so I had a general idea of how they work. The directions to put it together were lacking. That is a fairly minor negative imo. Other than putting it together, it is very easy to start using. We use 2 large scoops of kernels, 2 tbsp of oil, and 1 tsp of seasoning salt. Popcorn comes out great as long as I spread out the oil and seasoning, if not only the kernels that it was poured on will be seasoned and it will be way too much. Pops fairly quickly, only like 3-4 mins at most to make a large amount. We used this 2 times before using it to make popcorn for a neighborhood movie night. Worked so well!
