Like others have mentioned, the chains come twisted. I guess the children that assemble these things don't have motor skills developed enough to not twist the chains during assembly. You'll need to get some pliers and carefully open and close one of the rings to untwist the chains. Other than that I really like it.

when I opened the plastic box it came in the packaging was not of quality, not sustainable or environment friendly. the two chains were put together hastily. once I got one chain straight the other chain was twisted and kinked up. they are not on separate swivels but the chain got stuck in a chair I was sitting in and the cheap ring came out dissasembled. I took a key ring and was able to put it back together without kinks or twists. it operates as it should now. Its a shame i had to put it back together only better. It looks great now though.

The chain I received did not have the heavy duty style clips. It came with tiny flimsy ones that were held onto the chain by a small ring that appears could detach at any moment. I had to upgrade it on my own by adding small key rings at each end and then attaching sturdier clips.
