The WEN 4500-Watt Dual Fuel Inverter Generator produces clean energy free of voltage spikes and drops without all of the noise of a regular generator. Generate up to 4500 surge watts and 3500 rated watts of power on gasoline, or connect a propane tank for up to 4500 surge watts and 3150 running watts of power on LPG. Our 212cc 4-stroke air-cooled OHV engine operates at an extremely quiet 58 decibels at quarter load, about as quiet as a window air conditioner or the average conversation. This limits its invasiveness while hunting, camping, tailgating and restoring back-up power. Our unique Auto Fuel Selection Technology automatically switches between propane and gasoline for longer run times with limited hassle. The keyless electric start lets you turn on your generator at the press of a button, and includes a recoil pull starter as backup. The WEN 4500W Inverter Generator is also equipped with fuel shutoff. This feature turns off the flow of fuel, allowing the generator to use up the remaining fuel from the carburetor before automatically shutting down. This helps fight the build-up and blockages caused by stagnant fuel inside of the carburetor, minimizing maintenance while prolonging the unit’s lifespan. Designed to mirror a pure sine wave, this generator limits total harmonic distortion to under 0.3 percent at no load and under 1.2 percent at full load, making it safe for laptops, cellphones, monitors, tablets and other vulnerable electronics. Great generator. very quiet. About the same as my older EU 2000 , Honda generator.Easy to use. Excellent manual. easy to maintain.Like the fact that you don't have to tip it on its side to change the oil. runs my AC on our RV, no problem. It is heavy, but is has good wheels and a nice fold down handle for moving it. weights about twice as much as my old Honda, but twice as powerful. takes my wife and myself to load it in our vehicle, but we are not as young as we once was. (100) lbs. electric Start works well. all plug ins and controls are easy to understand. price was fair and warrantee, seems like it will be good. So far very happy with it. did as the manual says. ran it for approximately 8 hours, drained out the oil, (break in oil) and installed new oils per the manual. I used 10-30 synethic oil, as it's good for all temperatures. Does have nice lifting handles for loading. Also ordered the madnectic Oil plug for the unit right away. Glad I Did, as most new small motor engines seem to have slight slight metallic particles stuck on the plug, when changing the break in oil. For small units like this, there is no oil filtering device so recommend, the magnetic oil plug. seems to be a great unit and am extremely happy. ... show more

Today I unboxed my new inverter generator. After a lot of shopping around I settled on a Wen DF451i that set me back $753 on Amazon. I always considered Wen a cheap tool manufacturer and generally avoided them. That view has changed. This generator was well considered with a lot of design features that I liked and it seems well built. I removed the shipping bolts on the bottom and added oil and gas. It started on the first pull. I immediately noticed that it was a lot quieter than my old inverter generator. It isn’t as quiet as a suitcase one, but it is quieter than most its size. I will definitely be quieter than any of our boondocking friends. I liked that it came with a funnel that reached into the cabinet and made filling oil easy. Likewise the drain for draining the oil made a hot oil change less than a 5 minute job. I had to take off the side to make the battery connection. The battery was over 13 volts when I connected it and the electric start works good. I ran it for an hour and changed oil while it was hot. That went really well with the built in oil drain hose. I filled it back up and it started right back up. For the break in I ran it for an hour. The first 20 minutes was no load and varying from eco mode to full speed. Then I started introducing loads. Small at first and then my RV’s air conditioners. It started both the front one with a soft start and the back one without it and they ran on about ½ power according to the display. It would start an AC compressor on eco mode but it did step up the engine speed a little. At exactly one hour I changed oil. I ran it two more hours with varying loads and will go one more hour tomorrow before changing oil again. At the 10 hour mark it will go to synthetic oil. So far I am pleasantly impressed with this generator. -It is quieter than most -Oil changes are a breeze -The big handle for moving it around is very nice - It sits on rubber feet when it is level. It will not be going for a walk from vibration. -It will start an RV rooftop air conditioner compressor in eco mode and not go above ½ load. I was skeptical because of the Wen name. The price was right for a dual fuel electric start inverter so I gambled. At the 3 hour mark I am very happy with it. We will see what the future holds but I expect good things from this little unit. ... show more

Love this generator. I have had it for a while now and it works very well. It is a very quiet running generator. Runs all my RV toy hauler has and never bogs down. I have not used the propane part yet as the gas runs all night long on a full tank. Easy to start too.

Product: DF451i Super Quiet 4500-Watt Electric Start Dual Fuel Portable Inverter Generator Brand: WEN This is the fourth generator I’ve purchased in the past four years, so I knew what I wanted: Inverter generator, between 3000 and 5000 watts peak power, dual fuel/propane, electric start, and—because I live in California—must be CARB compliant. This is the only generator I could find that fit all the requirements. My delivery driver was an absolute hero, but I digress. This generator has many great qualities. I like it and depend on it daily. There is still room for improvement so I’m rating it four stars. Here’s why. Strengths: 1) A key strength is that, once it gets going, it produces a lot of load with relatively low fuel input. It runs in all weather until I turn it off or it runs out of propane—which takes a surprisingly long time. I have only run it using propane. 2) I’ve had problems in the past with generators shutting themselves down due to the carbon monoxide sensor. Does this even have one? I don’t know because it’s never shut itself off. I don’t need a CO sensor, and I don’t care if it has one. 3) Because I run this generator almost every day, it starts right up—once I got the electric start working. More on this below. 4) This generator runs quietly. I find its hum rather soothing, a signal that sweet power is flowing, in contrast to my DuroMax 12000 watt generator, which I believe can be heard from space. Okay—here are some weaknesses I’ve found. 1) When I first power the generator on, I get a red light most of the time and it does not produce any power, even though it is running. This may be correlated with cold temperatures, but I’m not sure. I have to let it run for a while, then turn it off, then turn it back on before it produces load. I’ve never found anything in the instructions about this. It’s something I’ve just worked out, and we are going with it. 2) The instructions were not completely accurate about what was required to get the battery hooked up. Contrary to the instructions, all the terminals arrived hooked up. I just needed to make an inline connection, but it took me a while to figure this out. 3) Here is the biggest area I see for improvement: this is a heavy generator and the oil fill is way at the bottom of one side. I practically have to roll the generator on its side to access the oil fill, which I do not believe to be recommended. It is very heavy, so there is no way I could pick it up and put it on a table to service it. Oil is blood to a generator, so how about making the oil fill easier to access, read and fill? ... show more

Powering our 5th wheel while house is being built for about a month now. No issues. Works like it should. Went through a basic break in period. Got the magnetic dipstick. Minimal metal after changing the oil. Pretty much just a small amount of powder on the tip. Tried the dual fuel but it from what I’ve noticed it uses propane faster than gas. And when it runs out of propane it’s supposed to switch itself over to gas. It does but struggles for a few seconds. Like it’s trying to figure out what to do while it’s running out of fuel. Other than that it’s been great. Very quiet. Mainly keep it on the eco mode. Electric start works great. Even the pull start is easy to start. Very happy with it. Keep in mind buying a generator for your RV. 4500watts is just right. An RV handles 30amps max. That’s 3600watts. This generator is 4500 surge watts 3500 continuous running watts on gas and 3150 on propane. Another reason I keep using the gas. Dual fuel is nice just cause I always have one or the other around. Anything over 3600 watts your wasting gas and have a over powered machine. Bigger isn’t always better for a camper. Just an FYI to keep in mind. No one ever told me I had to research it all. ... show more

I used my Wen generator over Thanksgiving weekend to power my RV while dry camping in the California desert. I ran it non-stop for 65 hours and it worked flawlessly. I tested it with the 15K BTU roof mounted A/C and it powered it no problem. I did not attempt to run A/C with the Microwave...at 3500w capacity I felt that was pushing it.. I will say that when the Eco Mode switch is on and you go to turn on the A/C...the surge would cause certain devices like my Starlink to reboot. When Eco Mode is off and RPMs are already up....this did not occur. This is obviously expected behavior for a generator when demanding a high load when in Eco Mode. Turning on smaller loads like Microwave or even the electric space heater was no problem in Eco Mode. Most of the time I was running at 1/4 load (or less) in Eco Mode.....and the 2.2 gallon gas tank would get me almost 15 hours runtime! I was running it at 3000ft elevation with the Wen High altitude carburetor jet (sold separately). Not sure if that made any difference on fuel consumption, if it did, then I would suspect it was minimal. I have tested it at home using propane and would say that seems to run slightly quieter and smoother. Propane is cumbersome for traveling but great to have on hand during power outages which was my primary reason for purchase. Did an oil change after first 8 hours per manual....fair amount of expected metal shavings from engine break-in on the magnetic dipstick (sold separately). Changed the oil again after the 60 hours non-stop use and was pleased to see very minimal metal deposits and the oil still looked pretty good. I am using the 5w-30 synthetic from Briggs and Stratton. All in all I am pleased with this little generator. I would definitely buy again. ... show more

There are two major issues with this generator. The first is the regulator sent with it leaks lots of gas out the side of the regulator...not the two little holes, the SIDE of the regulator. I lit it and it was a very nice flame. Once I got gas to it, I started breaking it in. Someone else has a good guide on doing that with 30W and ZZDP. I could smell a lot of propane while it was running but couldn't figure out what it was - just assumed it was that crappy regulator, so I hooked it up to my RV line. It was quiet when I did, and I could hear a hiss when I turned the propane on to it - with the fuel switch to the off position, and all switches off. Since I'm mechanical, I though how hard could it be. The first thing is there is ZERO breakdown on the propane portion of this. Again, I know enough to figure it out, but what a pain. I pulled apart the regulator thinking that the rubber seal had slipped, but that was fine. I finally pulled the gas tank and pulled the propane line from the front panel, plugged it and it STILL hissed. Some idiot at the factory had loosely attached the propane nut to the front panel connector and never bothered to tighten it. But more frightening is the fact that Wen has zero propane leak test. Hey, Wen, propane leaks both euthanize and kill people. I am not happy I've wasted two hours because they have zero test for this and no QC. Makes me wonder what else is wrong with the generator. I submitted a ticket on this to WEN on 8/14/2023 and have yet to receive a response from them, for at least a replacement for the faulty regulator, which I cannot use without loosing a lot of raw propane. So far, WEN's warranty is zero. ... show more
