Remember WEN. WEN 4288T Cast Iron Bench Grinder Pedestal Stand with Water Pot Remember when your bench grinder stayed put? The WEN Bench Grinder Pedestal Stand resolves this issue by providing an independent surface for you to attach your tool. The heavy cast iron and steel design limits vibration while providing a sturdy 31.5 inch pedestal for your grinder to rest on. The stand includes a water pot for quenching workpieces and a reliable three-legged design with bolt holes for fastening your stand to the floor. The 9.9-by-12.4-inch cast-iron top is provided with slots and holes for securely mounting your bench grinder to the stand. And even though this stand was built with the WEN Bench Grinders in mind, its universal design accommodates the majority of bench grinders on the market. And because its a WEN Product. a stocked inventory of replacement parts, and a friendly customer help line, all to make sure you remember WEN.

Very nice 6" grinder for light users & easy speed adjustment. Good value for money for DIY users like myself

  • Good value, heavy duty

After reading the reviews I was a little apprehensive but I got a good one. Left side grinder wheel was perfectly balanced, the right side wheel just needed adjusting. Motor gets about as warm as you would expect but not hot, works great and it’s a beast. Impressed, and satisfied.

  • It’s a good unit and performs as advertised.
Style: 2021 Model Pattern Name: Grinder
I like the grinder. It’s powerful and fits my needs. It came with a slight vibration but nothing that was a concern. Recently, that vibration became so bad that I couldn’t use it. I tried switching wheels but that didn’t help so I contacted the company and they are replacing it with a new unit, no questions asked. A great example of outstanding customer service! ... show more

  • A genuine bargain
Style: 2017 Model Pattern Name: Grinder
I will allow that some buyers may have received defective unit, which resulted in a negative review. However, with the exception of a few minor details, the unit I received was just fine. Right off the bat, except for a few small differences, this grinder seems to be the same one Grizzly sells for $160.00, plus $19.00 shipping. The differences are that the Grizzly has different wheel grits and does not come with either a dressing tool or an extra tool rest. Plus, the Grizzly owners manual is much better than the Wen. I don't mean to put Grizzly down here because their customer support is outstanding. But if money is tight, you CAN save $69.00 on Wen vrs the Grizzly, which would allow you to buy a couple of extra wheels and a diamond grit dressing tool if you want, Some buyers have complained that the light won't work unless the main power switch is turned on. Wen apparently has taken note of this because on the unit I received you can turn the light on whether or not the main power switch is turned on. Both wheels wobble side to side a very small amount. But this doesn't cause any noticeable vibration. I will eventually bolt the unit to a home made stand. Surprisingly however, the grinder I got runs so smoothly and is heavy enough that I can use it for the time being sitting directly on its rubber feet on my work bench. I had a definite reason for buying this grinder. I am just beginning to take up turning and got a great deal on a used Delta 1460 wood lathe. However I have found that a set of the best lathe chisels are going to run north of $350.00. I decided instead to buy this grinder and a set of HSS chisels from Harbor Freight for $64.00. The chisels are really quite nice except they are useless unless you sharpen them first. So now I have lathe chisels that work just fine, plus a dandy grinder - all for maybe half what a deluxe set of chisels would have cost. ... show more

  • Nice Features
Style: 2017 Model Pattern Name: Grinder
I just got it, assembled it and used it to sharpen some lawn mower blades and chisels. It was sturdy and worked well. Some reviewers commented on having wobbly wheels, but I had none of that. It was quiet, with mimimal vibration. Some also didn't like the fact that the motor had to be turned on to use the worklight. (That's just a matter of post-switch vs. pre-switch wiring, and I was prepared to rewire it, but was pleasantly surprised to find that I didn't need to. When I plugged the grinder in, the worklight functioned independently of the motor switch.) The only change I would suggest is regarding the tool rests - they have notches which only allow for preset angles, rather than infinite angle adjustment against the wheel face. I overcame that by inserting a flat washer between the two notched components. Other than that, I'm quite happy with it. It also came with a wheel dresser. ... show more

  • Great!
Style: 2017 Model Pattern Name: Grinder
I bought the 8" Variable for $100 and it is a great grinder! For $100 dollars it is a solid bench grinder, I was expecting a small dinky thing however this thing is quite beefy. I'd say it weighs around 30-40 pounds and is pretty good for a made in China grinder. There was minimal vibration out of the box but it still existed. Upon closer inspection both wheels were wobbling center to left about a millimeter or two. I took both wheels off, the left wheel was fine but the right finer grit wheel was misshaped by about a millimeter according to my calipers. However I centered the bushings as best I could and tightened it down really well and the vibration has all but stopped. At lower RPM it vibrates the right plate guard but other then that it is fine. The left wheel no longer wobbles but the right wheel still has a slight wobble. I don't know about the cheaper version, but the Variable speed model is great and I have no regrets buying it. ... show more

  • Smooth and balanced.
Style: 2021 Model Pattern Name: Grinder
I wasn’t sure if this would be worth the price tag. It is! A VERY reasonably priced grinder which is smooth and almost no vibration. I have yet to attach it to my bench (I will) and this one does NOT walk all over the bench. I appreciate the variable speed motor

  • Solid and quiet and smooth

Best value for the money even if the tool rests at each wheel and the eye guards are somewhat flimsy--can be replaced at a later date if needed. Update: I had much the same experience as another reviewer with this WEN grinder who uses a Wolverine with it. Surprisingly good for the money. I have a Wolverine Grind N' Hone system and mounting it was easy by simply installing the WEN on a ply board and putting the rubber feet from the WEN on the bottom of the ply board and then setting up the Wolverine--it will be a little off center of the wheel but this is not an issue. Works like a charm. No vibration with the feet on the WEN, some mild vibration with the feet on the ply board but overall good. Very quiet. I trued the grey wheel and will replace it anyway for a high quality ceramic one but I would do that for most of the grinders under $300 on the market anyway. One issue that was likely a very "cheap" design decision: the light does not come on unless you switch on the grinder wheel! Think about it for 1 second..., yah, you got it. So why did their design team not get it?! For that its a 4/5 stars. ... show more
