Description

Remember when your bench grinder stayed put? As all woodworkers know, a grinder on a normal work surface often times jostles and skews the other items in a work area due to heavy vibrations created by the grinder. The WEN Bench Grinder Pedestal Stand resolves this issue by providing an independent surface for you to attach your tool. The heavy cast iron and steel design limits vibration while providing a sturdy 31.5 inch pedestal for your grinder to rest on. The stand includes a water pot for quenching workpieces and a reliable three-legged design with bolt holes for fastening your stand to the floor. The 9.9-by-12.4-inch cast-iron top is provided with slots and holes for securely mounting your bench grinder to the stand. And even though this stand was built with the WEN Bench Grinders in mind, its universal design accommodates the majority of bench grinders on the market. And because its a WEN Product. a stocked inventory of replacement parts, and a friendly customer help line, all to make sure you remember WEN.

  • A stout stand at a very fair price. Bought a second!
Style: 2021 Model
I almost skipped past this product because I figured it would be low quality and flimsy. While it is no cast iron Baldor stand, for the money IMO this cannot be beat. It is heavier gauge than you'd expect for this price point. Once assembled it feels quite sturdy. Let me take a moment to share my thoughts based on my use case. I mounted a ~45lb Bucktool 8-inch low speed bench grinder on this stand. Once I got it assembled which takes a matter of a few minutes, the included hardware worked perfectly to mount the grinder. The only plastic item on this stand is the small plastic hook included which I assume is for the grinder's cord. I then installed some small leveling casters which I also sourced from Amazon to make this a bit more mobile. With that said, I'd knock myself for taking this approach since I think this should either be bolted to a heavier piece of steel, or to the actual shop floor. I'm using this grinder mainly to sharpen HSS blanks for my lathe and shaper, and an occasional fly cutter tool bit. It holds in there pretty good, but the base isn't overly wide and with only three legs, it can move if you're pushing harder trying to remove some material. The stand itself doesn't seem to feel flexible, it's simply the fact it's not anchored to the ground. Dang physics! I think it will work for me, but I'll likely try to find a permanent home and actually anchor it to the floor at some point so I can really take out my aggressions after a bad day on a HSS blank. haha It's nice when you buy something and you don't feel like you got a total pile of garbage. Like I said, it's not like old iron by any means, but in today's world of a lot of Chinese junk being flooded into the market, this product will actually work decently well for its intended purpose. It has my recommendation and I paid full price for the product. Update: After using the first stand with the 8” grinder, I bought a second for my smaller 6” Delta variable speed with 320/600 grit CBN wheels. I didn’t put it on rollers this time since it’s light enough to move around with leveling feet. Zero complaints. ... show more

  • Nice tool stand. Well worth the $$
Style: 2021 Model
Surprisingly sturdy. I figured for $45 this would be like a wobbly aluminum table, but it is fairly heavy steel and cast iron. Went together in 10 minutes with the included Allen wrench (never glanced at the instruction manual). My grinder bolted right up without modifications. The only thing was that the plastic (cord?) hook was a mystery as to where it screws in. I just wrapped a Velcro cable tie on my cord and neatly stuffed it in the water tray. Perfect. Oh, yeah, as everyone else has also said, it's short, but certainly not unusable. I'll work on a fix for that, but right now I'm glad to have my grinder off my bench. ... show more

  • Very well constructed and solid
Style: 2021 Model
The stand is very well made and easy to put together. It is made with quality materials and well designed. I have a Wen grinder that my granddaughter bought me for Christmas so I purchased the Wen stand to go with the Wen grinder. The height is perfect, it is heavy duty and stable. You don’t have to worry about it tipping over when you’re using the grinder. Very pleased with it and would recommend it for anyone who needs a good and reliable grinder stand ... show more

  • Worth what they cost, easy to improve if you need to.
Style: 2021 Model
These are pretty nice. They go together easily and are sturdy. Other reviews here have mentioned two main issues - the height and the stability. These are 32" high instead of a standard counter height of 36". If you are taller you may find them a bit uncomfortable. At 5'10" with long arms I think they are OK but wouldn't mind a little height. They are also pretty stable for their size and I don't think it would be possible to sell for $40 shipped if it were much heavier or bigger, which is how you would make them more stable. If you're not leanining into them, they are totally fine. I used one for a buffer and one for a sander and both are stable under normal pressure. The great news is that the base of the stand accepts lag screws. If you need more height and stability you can easily bolt these to a platform or even scrap 2x material. This can add weight for stability, width for stability, and height. My only other small criticism is that the slots for bolts don't line up well with my sander and I was only able to use two bolts instead of the 4 that the sander accepts. I think they could be improved to accommodate more tools but they are serviceable and seem perfectly fine for buffers, bench grinders, etc. They could also be drilled out if I really needed 4 bolts. ... show more

  • Good stand for grinder and drill press
Style: 2021 Model
I bought two of these stands: one for my Rikon 8” bench grinder and the other for my WEN 10” drill press. It worked perfectly for both applications. The black powder finish was in perfect condition and the parts were easy to assemble. It is fairly sturdy, but if you push really hard on it, it could possibly tip over. That shouldn’t be an issue for most people. Plus you could always secure the stand to the floor if you want more stability. For the price, this is a good stand for my needs. I only use my grinder for sharpening wood-turning chisels and gouges. And I only use the drill press for relatively small wood projects. So I’m not concerned about the stand easily tipping over. I use the included “water tray” for stowing my drill press’s chuck key and counter sink bits. Before I got the stand, my drill press was sitting on a workbench, which made it much too high for everyday use. I had to stand on a step stool to use it. Now the drill press is at a perfect working height and off my workbench. Mounting both the bench grinder and the drill press on the stands was super easy. The bolts that are supplied with the stand are too small, however. But I had some larger carriage bolts that I used for the drill press and machine bolts for the bench grinder, which I mounted on a piece of MDF to allow for mounting my grinding jigs, as you can see from the photo. In summary, I would buy this utility stand again should the need arise. ... show more

  • Pleasantly surprised.
Style: 2021 Model
For $60 bucks I wasn't expecting much. I was expecting to have to do some modifications to make it sturdier; I was pleasantly surprised. + height is a good working height + The base is cast and is held to the column by two set screw (not just one); the screws were already in place / just tighten...and thanks for the allen wrench so I didn't have to hunt for one. + The water tray is cast. + The top is held to the column by a cast piece again held by two set screws not just one. (no wobble) + The top is sturdy (10 ga? ) the cut outs fit my bench grinder and they supplied ample bolts for even a very large grinder. + overall fairly hefty, I'll still bolt it down but it doesn't tip all that easily unsecured. - my only negative: the hook they provide presumably for hanging a face shield is a nice touch but it's plastic and doesn't protrude very far. It won't last long / I'll replace it with a conduit clamp when that happens. Not a big deal. Overall I'm very pleased, I was not expecting much for the price... I was pleasantly surprised. ... show more

  • Missing screws
Style: 2021 Model
Decent stand. Seems like it may be sturdy enough. However, they failed to include the necessary M4 Pan head screws. Even the “ pre-installed in the base of the top plate’” are missing. These , coupled with the aforementioned other missing M4’s, make assembly impossible without a visit to the hardware store. ... show more
