  • Great saw for a beginner
Style: with Flexible Work Light
I bought this saw for my husband's birthday. The picture is his very first project. He is still learning how to use it. I chose this saw because you can use pinless blades as well as pinned blades. I believe this will make a difference when he gets into more intricate cuts. I think I said that right. It comes with both blades which is really nice. The saw cuts really well once you learn not to push your project and let your blade do the work. It is a wonderful saw for beginner for a great price. ... show more

  • Good value
Style: with Flexible Work Light
This scroll saw is a good value regardless of a couple shortcomings. The dust port doesn't work very well so it's a good idea to blow the dust out of the saw after every couple uses to keep too much sawdust from building up inside. Using a shop vac or dust collector with the dust port on the saw does help to reduce floating sawdust though so it's worth using if you can work with the vacuum noise and the vacuum hose sticking into your crotch while you're sitting in front of the saw. It would be much nicer if the vacuum port was on the side of the saw, not the front. The LED light seems like it should be helpful but in practice it's not so much. It shakes a lot and is a few inches too short to reach around and light up the front of the blade where you really need it. If you are doing any fine cutting you will want to use plain end blades. There are lots more choices of blades and much finer blades available in plain end as opposed to pin end. The plain end adapters that come with the saw are rather frustrating and time consuming to use and to change blades with. Fortunately, WEN does make and sell replacement blade holders which are easy to swap out, super easy to use and still work with pin blades. The only thing you lose is the sideways mount blade option. They cost about ten bucks for a pair and are worth every penny if you are going to put any hours in using this saw. Go to WEN's site and search for 3920B blade holders. ... show more

  • Great saw for the price!
Style: with Flexible Work Light
I'm really impressed with this scroll saw, especially for the price. As someone just getting into woodworking, I didn't want to spend a fortune. It's been perfect for the small projects I've been working on. The variable speed is a fantastic feature that gives you a lot of control, and the work light is a nice touch. It's also surprisingly quiet during operation. ... show more

  • Everything you could want!
Style: with Flexible Work Light
I didn't know how to use a scroll saw when I made this purchase, but I wanted to get the finished results of a scroll saw project. I did some research and purchased this machine because it had great reviews and was a reasonable price. This is, quite literally, one of the best purchases I have ever made. For months now I have spent weekends using the saw and producing projects that I love. I have had to learn about blades in order to use the machine, but that's it. It's so easy to use and super fun! Some opinions about other reviews: Vibration: I understand what people are saying about vibration, however, there are holes in the machine to screw it down to a work bench or mobile scroll saw stand if necessary. That being said, I only use mine at medium speed and there is no vibration at all. Additionally, there is a moveable arm right next to the blade of the unit that allows adjustments for the height of the wood. Keeping this flush against your product is very helpful for stability. Light: I agree, the light isn't very helpful. If it was mounted in a way so it could swing to the left or right side and if it was a bit longer it would be awesome!!! Sadly, it's not the case and I don't use it. Blower/vacuum tube: Yeah, I am not sure if mine came bent or if that's how it is supposed to look, regardless, it's also a pointless attachment. ShopVac hookup: Works great! Honestly though, unless you are working in a completely clean environment or cutting MDF (or other heavy sawdust wood) It's not needed. Just tip the machine forward when you finish your project and clean up saw dust from there. Blade type: Pin and pinless can be used with this machine. Both work great! I love this thing. I would say buy it if you are at all thinking about it and enjoy! You will have to have some patience at the beginning to learn how to cut straight, but it is pretty much a sewing machine that cuts wood. Just take your time, dedicate yourself and soon you too can be a scroll saw pro. Enjoy!!! ... show more
