The 9 positive stops increase in increments of 1/128 inch anywhere from 0 all the way up to 1/16 inches. The base plate shoe even includes two v-shaped grooves for easily flattening and shaping sharp post corners. This is my first electric planer. I read the reviews before purchasing. Some people had trouble with the motor burning. Like one person said don't push it too hard. It's not a commercial or heavy-duty planer. You won't get one of those for $29. I'm renovating an older home and all the inside door jams are the same size as standard doors without any clearance. I needed to plan the doors to fit. I would plane a door, hang it while the planer was cooling and then repeat the same until I had all the doors planed and hung. Gave this thing a hot supper twice in a row out of the box. Chips do bind up in the chute, but for the price and how I was able to flatten a large split log into a bench without burning it out...worth it.

If you are just a weekend warrior like me, then this is a great value. Works like a champ. If you are a professional woodworker, then I can't say. I used it on a few projects like building a patio table and it was a life saver for certain parts of the job. Highly recommend.

Worked superbly to plane down the sides of my solid oak doors that were sticking. It’s messy so be ready for that if you don’t have an attachment for a shop vac for it (which I didn’t).

I bought this for the small size and easy handling. So far it's been quite acceptable. Not super quality, and no carbide blades, but very usable for a low price point. As with all of my power tools I recommend initially running the motor in at various speeds and positions under no load, and checking for any loose parts. Only blows dust out of one side.
