  • OK, I will try not to oversell this
Size: 9 Inch Style: Band Saw
But I just LOVE this saw! Where to begin.. Unpacking: it came very well packed, and undamaged. Not much to setting it up at all, attach the table, and using a small tri square, set the table so that its 90 deg to the blade. The 3/8 blade was already installed and set up, the bearing guides were close to perfect. I was making sawdust within 15 minutes! The cuts were fantastic, with zero drift! The fence works perfectly, as does the table bevel. This was a relief as the saw this one replaced (a $100 Ryobi) was pure junk in this regard. That saw never tracked worth beans.. I had been waiting for the WEN saw to show up (I live in Alaska so everything from Amazon takes longer) in order to cut a slight bevel in a piece of trim. The Ryobi couldn't do it without drifting badly, but this WEN handled the project with ease! The manual.. what a great, well done document! It is single language (English in my case) full sized 23 page (8.5x11"), with a print font and size even I could read easily. Parts clearly drawn out, contents, specs, obviously written by someone who had English as a first language. The set up and adjustment pages were clear and easily understood, explaining not only how to set up, but why its important to do it properly. Then towards the back there is an extensive full page of troubleshooting guide, followed by an exploded view of all the parts, followed by a complete parts list. So if anything does fail over time it can be fixed.. This manual is outstanding, and so unusual these days with tiny cheap multi lingual documents poorly written with tiny fonts that even young eyes need a magnifying glass to read being the norm. Bottom line, this saw lacks nothing, and truly deserves the 5 stars I gave it! And the best part was the price! For what I paid for it I really wasn't expecting much, just something hopefully a little better than my old Ryobi, but this saw is miles better.. ... show more

  • This is for the 9" Wen Band Saw Model 3939T
Size: 9 Inch Style: Band Saw
First Impression upon Unboxing on 11-22-2020 with Update Below I have had upscale equipment over the years and am now retired but wanted to get back to tinkering with some new but small projects around the house. I was surprised at the features on the WEN Model 3939T. It is a small scale band saw but it includes impressive features including such things as blade guide bearings instead of touch guides, steel construction for the frame, doors, and base, a rack and pinion adjustment of the composite blade guide, and crowned tires. So on first inspection, I found that this saw, in spite of it small size, exceeded my expectations. However until it is corrected on Amazon’s website, the product information incorrectly said a 3/8" blade was included. But mine arrived equipped with a 1/4" blade at 10 teeth per inch. I have already reported the incorrect information to Amazon. The only other feature I would like to see on this tool is a quick release blade tension adjustment lever. I then set about setting up the saw. Update 11-24-2020 As part of my set up process I purchased an Olson blade: model WB57262DB. It is 62-Inch by 3/8" wide by 4 Teeth Per Inch. I will be working work mostly in 3/4” ply wood with straight cuts and such a blade would optimize this saw for that work. Before installing the upgraded blade, and as part of my initial set up, I removed, cleaned and lubricated the upper and lower blade guide bearings. All arrived as having been lubed with dirty, used motor oil. Several seemed clogged and did not spin freely so I applied a degreaser to flush out the old oil and lubed all the bearings with an excellent cleaner and wax lube product. The degreaser and lube did a great job cleaning and lubricating the bearings. See Photo. The upper thrust bearing however was made subject to a design flaw that required a bit of work to correct: A molded cross brace in the Upper Blade Guard assembly was extremely close to the upper thrust bearing. See Photo. I used a small gouge and file to remove a bit of the composite material to provide more clearance so the thrust bearing could spin freely without potential for getting jammed by sawdust. A small design change in the mold used for the compost blade guard assembly could easily eliminate this condition - minus one star. The table when mounted was spot on at 90 degrees to the blade (tested and verified with a simple cut in plywood). I only needed to adjust the indicator slightly. I used bar wax to lube the slot for the Miter Gage. It makes for smoother operation without squealing or attracting, collecting or holding sawdust. The Miter Gage required a slight adjustment on its indicator. The Fence assembly needed no adjustment. A sample cut showed a 1mm deviation over a foot long cut which is not perfect but is well within tolerance for the work I will be doing with this saw. Tracking the blade: I adjusted the tracking and tension for three different blades (two were 1/4” and the last was the upgraded 3/8” Olson. The 3/8” blade can only be set with the gullet on the center of the top wheel when the blade’s spine is set on the edge of the top wheel’s crowned tire. All the blades tracked perfectly and for each blade all the bearings could be set properly (I.e. touched with the blade ONLY when lightly flexed side to side or front to back. The saw I received was made in China and aside from the design flaw mentioned above is well made and is now well cleaned, well lubed and well tuned. The motor and both wheels run freely, smoothly and quietly. Overall I am well pleased with my new WEN Model 3939T and expect it will provide me with years of good service. Again, I would like to see a quick tension release lever and more clearance on the cross brace above the upper thrust bearing. As such I would still recommend this to anyone interested in a solid purchase of an otherwise well made bench top band saw. ... show more

  • Great saw. Great buy.
Size: 9 Inch Style: Band Saw
I was somewhat skeptical about ordering the 9" 2.8 saw because of some of the negative reviews but I had some of the same tracking/ cutting problems with an older Delta bandsaw. Glad I ordered it. It tracks and cuts perfect right out of the box. See pictures of recut wood. I used the fence, clamped it down and cut the pieces. I like the way the blade/wheel access doors swing open with 1/4 twist of a knob. I like the rack gear adjustment for the blade guide and table tilt. Table is well finished, stable and perfectly flat. I like that the blade guides are all bearings. Nice aluminum blade wheels and they both run very true. A couple things about the description: Saw came with 1/4" blade not 3/8". There is no tension sight hole. Everything about this saw is well thought out and designed. I just purchased the saw, but have cut various pieces of wood checking it out. I have not changed a blade and I know about the frustration of adjusting tracking, but once you figure that out it becomes easier. I was given a new Delta saw years ago because my friend couldn't get the blade to track. Took me several hours first time but has gotten easier over the years. I knocked that saw over the other day and broke the table off, but it still runs true. Will repair that at some point. The miter slot is a little sloppy as others have noted but with a strip of tape down both sides of the slot tightens that up nicely. No a big deal as i have found a bandsaw has many good uses but cutting miters in not one of it's strong points. All in all 5 stars and I am very happy with the saw. It is mounted on my old stand in the picture. ... show more
